You'd be amazed at just what natural gas is needed for, LL, heating's the obvious one, but industry needs it as well. No gas? No big bakeries for the cities, very little food processing at all. Hospitals, schools, everything depends on it. It's needed to generate electricity, all sorts of things besides simple domestic heating.

perhaps Ukraine should finally pay Gazprom not only for the gas they would like to use in the future, but also the gas they have already used and payment for which is overdue and which the IMF, i.e., the US taxpayer, gave Ukraine explicit money to pay for and instead was embezzled by the people in power.

Which was as predictable as sunrise.

The announcement was made by Igor Sechin, Rosneft’s chief executive officer, who spent two days sailing on a Russian research ship to the drilling rig where the find was unveiled today.
