Prince Andrew denies US allegations over 'sex slave'

Lily, as long as they think this is about Andrew having sex with a 17 year old, who appears to have been handsomely rewarded for the sheer ghastliness (and boredom, if Fergie's remarks are anything to go by) then the truth about this is NEVER going to come out. It's tacky, it's seedy, it's horrible, it's morally indefensible, but it isn't actually illegal - except seemingly in Florida, which isn't where it supposedly happened.

Instead of looking at the lurid headlines, people should be asking what lies behind it all, given some of the names involved.

Bill Clinton's name frequently comes up; if he's been filmed having sex with a REAL minor, then the consequences are incalculable. Note I say IF - all sorts of stories are flying around, and it's hard to make out the truth.

Which is why it needs to be aired in court, IMO.

Remember, Andrew may be a royal, but he's not of any great importance. Of course he could be thrown to the wolves, to take the heat off the genuinely powerful names being dragged into this.

I agree with you Bonny. Things are not what they seem on the surface so who knows what the truth actually is?

Remember the Lord McAlpine business? When false accusations were made, against the wrong person, and in the subsequent uproar any chance of getting to the bottom of what had actually happened was gone forever?

Jane Does 3 & 4 seem to be upset that they were not part of the original settlement and are now after the US Government so they can then sue for damages?

It would also seem that by bringing into the mix the names of people who were not part of the original proceedings (e.g. Prince Andrew) it ups the ante.

On top of that, Jane Doe 3 is writing a book and this firestorm will ensure it makes best seller status.

Yes, and all anyone will remember is Randy Andy's exploits, no-one will be interested in anything else, and no-one will bother asking difficult questions about just why his convicted pervert friend was procuring young girls for powerful men, Ms Maxwell's role in it all, and where these alleged films of it all were really going.

It all adds to the lurid story, Lily, but I personally find it a bit offensive. 'Sex slaves' are those poor women and girls smuggled into the West from poor countries, and forced to work in brothels almost till their deaths.

Not girls allegedly getting paid £10,000 for shagging princes, and happily getting themselves photographed by the media at parties.

I repeat, it's all tacky and disgusting, and morally reprehensible, but it demeans real victims of sex slavery to compare the two, IMO.

My reaction is actually more like blind loyalty to The Queen, LL. Randy he might be, but he won't be completely stupid, as though he couldn't get something a bit more fragrant and discrete than that silly little girl.
And I'm not having The Royal Family bandied about all over America.

I understand perfectly well why America gave The Crown of England the push. But they did, and now they wish they hadn't. So the best they can get is Fergie, who isn't actually Royal anyway.

Americans in the main, are fascinated by the Queen but many don't bother one way or the other, Sabot.  They don't want to be ruled by a royal family although there is reason to believe that they currently are.

Personally, I think she is the most amazing lady and I respect and admire her in the extreme.
