Obama and his cronies have thrown away EVERYTHING achieved a generation ago by Gorbachev, Reagan, etc. They've restarted the Cold War, trashed the economies of much of Europe. And killed thousands of innocent people.

Bearing in mind the complete fictions Washington and Langley concocted to justify Freedumbing Libya, does anyone still think they don't know EXACTLY who shot down MH17? And that it was their own allies in Kiev? I wouldn't be at all surprised if Langley was directly involved in that, as part of some lunatic scheme to either shoot down Kremlin-1, or to give them an excuse to invade Russia itself.

Kremlin confirms Hollande, Merkel visit to discuss end to Ukraine civil war

The French president and the German chancellor are set to visit Moscow on Friday after a trip to Kiev, in order to find a peaceful solution to the escalating violence in Ukraine, the Kremlin has confirmed.

“I can confirm that indeed tomorrow [Friday] Putin, Merkel and Hollande will have talks. The leaders of the three states will discuss what specifically the countries can do to contribute to speedy end of the civil war in the southeast of Ukraine, which has escalated in recent days and resulted in many casualties,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

he leaders of Germany and France will meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev on Thursday and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday, according to Reuters.

"Together with Angela Merkel we have decided to take a new initiative," Hollande told a news conference. "We will make a new proposal to solve the conflict which will be based on Ukraine's territorial integrity."

"Then, on Friday, we will discuss the initiative with the Russian president in Moscow, since we are short of time,"Hollande said.

"In view of the escalating violence in recent days, the chancellor and President Hollande are intensifying their efforts, which have been going on for months, for a peaceful settlement to the conflict in eastern Ukraine," Merkel's spokesman Steffen Seibert said in a statement.

According to Hollande, the joint initiative of France and Germany is aimed at producing a text “acceptable to all,” as "diplomacy can't go on forever." The French president also said that France is not in favor of Ukraine joining NATO.

US Secretary of State John Kerry also arrived in Kiev on Thursday for a meeting with Petro Poroshenko. It follows Washington’s consideration of supplying Ukrainian army with weapons.

Europe wants to talk peace, Kerry wants to get even more people killed.

I doubt if ANY of this would have happened in the first place if Washington had stayed out of matter that did NOT affect the US in the slightest, due to Ukraine being thousands of miles from the US.

Unlike the Washington chickenhawks, European leaders know what war really means - nothing but death and destruction.

Ukrainian hryvnia in free fall after bank said it can no longer support currency

The hryvnia lost 34 percent against the US dollar after the head of the central bank signaled it can no longer support the currency with regular interventions and will allow greater fluctuations.

“Get used to market volatility," Central Bank Governor Valery Gontareva told reporters in Kiev on Thursday.

With foreign exchange reserves at only $7.5 billion, the central bank “is changing its approach to monetary policy, while strengthening its rigidity,” according to a statement published Thursday.

The US has given $16.4m (£10.7m) in aid to Ukraine, as the nation's humanitarian crisis deepens on the frontline of the conflict.

John Kerry, the US Secretary of State, has visited Kiev and condemned "Russia's continued aggression in the east".

During a joint news conference with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Mr Kerry warned the US would not "close our eyes" to Russian tanks and fighters crossing the border.

So, how hard would it be to produce ONE SINGLE PHOTOGRAPH showing this happening? The US spies on the entire world; the entire world has cameraphones.

But there is not ONE SINGLE PHOTOGRAPH of this happening. Why, it's almost as if it's a pack of lies to justify what the US has done.

PS - $16 million is just chump change in that kleptocracy, barely enough to pay Hunter Biden's cocaine bill. And the Ukrainian economy is in its death throes today.

US partly to blame for Ukraine’s use of cluster bombs – McCain

The US is partially responsible for Ukraine’s indiscriminate use of cluster bombs in the country’s east, US Senator John McCain told Russia’s Sputnik news agency. According to McCain, it is due to the US failing to send Kiev other arms.

“I think that if we had provided them with the weapons they need, they wouldn’t have felt they had to use cluster bombs. So, it’s partially our fault,” McCain, who is also the US Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, told Sputnik.

Human Rights Watch (HRW) has confirmed November reports that Kiev’s military used cluster bombs in residential areas in southeastern Ukraine, including Donetsk and Lugansk. The NGO also said that cluster ammunition was deployed in Donetsk on October 2, which led to the death of an employee from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The usage of cluster munitions has been declared illegal and a violation of international humanitarian law by the UN. Up to 114 countries have signed a UN treaty banning such weapons, which are made of hundreds of submunitions that can travel in any direction during blasts, putting everyone in their vicinity at high risk.

HRW blamed Kiev for not investigating its army’s indiscriminate use of prohibited cluster bombs against civilians in the country’s east. Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk responded by claiming “there is no evidence of that,” and suggested that the group should focus on Crimea, which split from Ukraine and reunited with Russia in March 2014.

I gather that he's in a flap because a lot of European leaders have had enough of this nonsense, Lily, not least because Europe does so much trade with Russia, and frankly needs every bit of business it can get. It's also disgusting at a human level to have this slaughter going on in Eastern Europe.

Unlike Biden and co, Merkel and Hollande, for all their failings, DO know what war really means. Biden would be better employed cleaning up his own back yard, IMO - starting with getting his parasite son Hunter off drugs, instead of into directorships of Ukrainian energy companies.

The maniacs calling for lethal aid to be sent to Kiev were the last straw for Merkel and Hollande, I suspect - they seem to be making this trip off their own bats. Though that was followed by McCain announcing that the only reason Kiev had committed war crimes - on other Ukrainians, let us not forget - by using cluster bombs was that they didn't have enough of the other kind.

Talks between Russia’s President Putin, France’s President Hollande, and German Chancellor Merkel have been constructive and work is underway on a possible joint document aimed at implementing the Minsk agreements, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

“On the basis of proposals made by the French President and German Chancellor, there is currently ongoing joint work to prepare the text of a possible joint document on the implementation of the Minsk agreements – a document that would include proposals made by Ukrainian President Poroshenko and proposals put forward today by Russian President Putin,” Dmitry Peskov said after the talks between the three leaders finished in Moscow on Friday.

He explained that after the document is prepared it will be presented to both sides in the conflict in Ukraine for approval. Peskov characterized the talks as “constructive, informative and substantive.”

The preliminary results of the talks will be discussed in a telephone call between the ‘Normandy Four’ – Russia, France, Germany, and Ukraine – on Sunday, he said.

The French government viewed the talks as having been “constructive and meaningful,” RIA Novosti reported, citing French media sources in the Hollande administration. Meanwhile, German sources said that the document on Ukraine will include suggestions from each of the 'Normandy Four' leaders.

Following both the talks and a joint dinner, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have traveled back to the airport.

The importance of the talks has been highlighted by the fact that the details have been shrouded in secrecy. RT’s Maria Finoshina reported from the Kremlin that the journalists were given a mere 30 seconds to take photographs of the three leaders, and none of them uttered a single word to the press during the photo-shoot.

Hollande and Merkel arrived in Moscow on Friday evening. They headed straight to the Kremlin for talks on the Ukrainian crisis with President Vladimir Putin behind closed doors in discussion which lasted for nearly five hours.

I don't like the politics of either Merkel or Hollande, but at least they are decent human beings trying to bring peace, not more death and suffering. Crimea cannot be blamed for seceding from Ukraine – a country in turmoil – and choosing to join Russia, said former president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy. He also added that Ukraine “is not destined to join the EU.”

French President Francois Hollande called for “quite strong” autonomy for Ukraine’s eastern regions while speaking on France 2 TV. He also revealed part of the joint plan discussed in Moscow on the conflict’s solution.

On Saturday, Hollande said that the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Lugansk need “rather strong” autonomy from Kiev.

“These people have gone to war," Hollande explained. "It will be difficult to make them share a common life [with Kiev]."

The French President also revealed part of the joint document under negotiation between Berlin, Moscow, Paris and Kiev. He said it will feature a 50- to 70-kilometer demilitarized zone on each side of the current line dividing militia-held and Kiev-controlled territories.

Steffen Seibert, spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said Sunday that preparations are underway for her to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and French President Francois Hollande in the Belarusian capital Minsk on Wednesday.

Seibert said the decision follows an "extensive" phone call among the four leaders Sunday morning, during which further measures for a peace plan were discussed.

He said the leaders had worked further on a package of measures "in the context of their efforts on a comprehensive settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine."

The aim is to draw up measures that breathe new life into a much-violated September peace plan. Seibert and the French government said preparations for the summit will take place in Berlin on Monday.

They said there will also be a meeting in Minsk by Wednesday of the signatories to last September's accord, including Russia, Ukraine and representatives of separatists in eastern Ukraine.....full story at link.

I actually do not see ANY other US president letting a mess like this happen, Lily. Any president except Obama would have sat down with Putin, assorted Ukrainians and European leaders (which doesn't include Cameron ) and stayed there till they had thrashed out a peaceful solution.

The damage Obama has caused is incalculable. The worst obviously is the loss of life, Ukraine is now a failed state, Obama's mad sanctions have tipped fragile European economies over the edge, and now McCain and Biden have scared the living daylights out of Europeans, who do NOT want a European war over George Soros' bank account. Or Biden's - let's not kid ourselves that there is any great ideological principle at stake here.
