And speaking of shifty LibDems:
I wish people could find another word for the not-Tory/Labour/LibDem parties besides 'progressive', it reminds me horribly of the moonbats on the US Coffee Party page.
It sure looks like the LibDems are determined to take everyone else down with them.

Well here in the US there is the term progressive which is another way of saying extreme liberal.

Yes, and it's not actually the same thing at all as those wet nellies. I sometimes read the Coffee party page for entertainment, as I am in awe of the utter trivia they find to get irate about. Also, they're the only people left on Earth that think the sun shines out of Obama's backside.
Mind you, that Bennett woman that's head of the Greens in England is a bit moonbatty. Patrick Harvie, the head Scots Green, isn't moonbatty at all - he once told George Galloway to STFU and stop being obnoxious to women on a live TV debate.

The SNP “outstrips” Labour when it comes to intelligence and strategy, according to Johann Lamont’s former top advisor.
Paul Sinclair said Scottish Labour “looks lightweight” and “doesn’t seem to know what it is for” before branding it “a party of commentators rather than competence”.
After serving for three years as the Scottish Labour leader’s senior strategist and spin doctor, Mr Sinclair wrote in The Times about his frustration dealing with MPs.
He said: “It speaks to a belief that too many of our Scottish MPs regard Westminster as a way to escape Scottish politics rather than a way to represent Scotland.”
Mr Sinclair also said “the SNP have an intellectual and strategic capacity that outstrips the opposition” and Labour’s “young talent” at Holyrood, including Jenny Marra: “are only there by accident”.
SNP MSP James Dornan said: “The cat is out of the bag, and Paul Sinclair has confirmed what we all suspected — a really bad attitude towards Scotland permeates the Labour Party, particularly their Westminster MPs.”
A Scottish Labour spokesman declined to comment.

Labour MP describes SNP surge as 'like a tsunami'
Michael Settle

THE scale of Labour's foreboding north of the Border has been laid bare on the eve of the first televised Scottish leaders' debate with one ex-MP and candidate admitting the SNP surge is "like a tsunami" even the world's best swimmer could not hope to survive.
As yet another opinion poll suggests a Nationalist landslide on May 7 with the SNP on course to achieve 47 seats, Labour candidates have been brutally candid about their chances of success.
One ex-MP said: "I'm now set to Defcon f****d. I'm expecting to leave and never come back. It doesn't matter how good you are or how weak your (SNP) opponent is; it's over."
It came as Alistair Carmichael, the Scottish Secretary, confirmed the leaked memo of a meeting between Nicola Sturgeon and French Ambassador Sylvie Bermann in February was written in the Scotland Office.
The Minister denied it was embarrassing, saying: "This is the middle of an election campaign; these things happen."
The memo claimed Ms Sturgeon had told Ms Bermann that she would "rather see David Cameron remain as PM'' and that she did not regard Ed Miliband as ''prime minister material''. The FM emphatically dismissed the claim as "100 per cent untrue" while Pierre-Alain Coffinier, France's consul general in Edinburgh, also denied it.
Sir Jeremy Heywood, the Cabinet Secretary, has now launched a leak inquiry although a Cabinet Office source could not say whether it would report before or after polling day.
The latest poll has Labour with just 11 seats out of a previous 40, the Liberal Democrats with just one of its previous 11 and Scotland again becoming a Tory-free zone in terms of the House of Commons.
Another former Labour MP admitted: "The polls are right. I hear it on the doorstep; my people hear it. We have thousands of conversations and the polls are bang on." He added: "I'll be looking for another career after May."
A third said: "It is like a tsunami; there's nothing you can do about it. It doesn't matter if you're the best swimmer in the world."

Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
Today's exciting news.
Cameron visited the peasants in North Britain - or rather, observed them from the safety of an Edinburgh hotel while he ate breakfast with The Last Tories In Scotland.
And Blair has endorsed Millipede:
http://news.sky.com/story/1459817/tony-blair-lends-support-to-miliband-campaign
Tony Blair will today call on the country to support Ed Miliband, in a sign the leading lights of New Labour are prepared to throw their weight behind his campaign.
In an attempt to silence rumours of a rift between the two men, the former Prime Minister will say: "I want Labour, under Ed's leadership, to be the Government of our country on May 8th. I believe we can and will do it."
Mr Blair will claim that David Cameron's pledge to offer a referendum on Britain's EU membership would put jobs, businesses and the UK's world standing at risk.
:: Full Coverage Of General Election 2015
He is expected to say: "I believe passionately that leaving Europe would leave Britain diminished in the world, do significant damage to our economy and, less obviously but just as important to our future, would go against the very qualities and ambitions that mark us out still as a great global nation."
What, is that a 'great global nation' that starts wars, invades other countries, kills and maims hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, kills and maims hundreds of British soldiers...
BASED ON A PACK OF LIES?
Blair's arrogance never ceases to astound; he must be the one politician everyone hates, including most of the Labour party.

Lord spare us, he's on TV now making a speech....I will resist the temptation to throw something at him, as from what he's spouted so far, he's digging Milliband's grave.

War criminal Blair absolutely reeks of globalism, Soros, and We know what's best for you peasants.
Never mind, his endorsement should be the kiss of death for Millipede.

Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
Last year, I happened to encounter both big party leaders (on separate occasions).
(A) One was at Kings Cross station. I ran (literally) into leader one and his entourage. Both of us apologised (terribly english) and had a brief but pleasant chat. His aides said they were late for a meeting - but received the reply "go away, I am talking to a voter" Very relaxed, and as far as I could tell genuinely open and friendly.
(B) The other was at London City airport, heading to Glasgow. Waiting for the plane, a number of officials arrrived, plus four security guards. The tesna barriers were moved back, and party leader (B) arrived, and was escorted up the steps. When on the plane, the seating had been rearranged to allow two empty rows between the leaders party and the rest of us peasants.
I was merely an interested observer - will make no difference to me as my politics are "provisional wing of the Liberal Party" - but the contrast was telling.
But which was which?

I am going to guess that (b) was Miiliband, Jean-Pierre. Praise where praise is due, Cameron tends not to travel with an entourage.

Spot on Bonny.
And I am sure Milliband would make an excellent leader of a coalition government. Just not Ed.
I was intrigued to have a email over the weeked from a much more politically aware friend - that Sturgeon would make an excellent leader of the Labour Party.

I think Ed Milliband does what Big Brother tells him to do. I remember being told when Bliar was Head Honcho that the elder Milliband was after his job and was indulging in some back stabbing diplomacy which was why he was not chosen to lead Labour after Brown stepped down. As I said, I was told this and my source has always been reliable. LL

I think she's a bit busy just now, Jean-Pierre, what with being the First Minister of Scotland....
Those South of the Border seem to keep forgetting that the SNP have been running the Scottish government since 2007, in coalition to begin with, and doing a pretty good job of it. They've kept manifesto promises, and worked miracles with the pocket money. Of course they haven't got everything right, no government can, but by and large, they've proved they are more than capable.
Ms Sturgeon is NOT, as that idiot Gove claimed last week, a political 'debutante'.
I would like to see the English regions get the hang of this 'devolution' business, and start demanding a transfer of at least some powers away from Westminster. Apart from anything else, there's nothing like having to actually mingle with the voters on an everyday basis to keep politicians in line.

That's interesting, LL. Is Milliband a bit of a Blair puppet?
PS - I really don't think Blair has done much for Labour with that arrogant speech this morning.

I don't know about Ed, but David was definitely involved in attempts to unseat Bliar. I think Brown was endorsed by the party to stop David getting power. Oh, the horror! Bliar's speech is being repeated ad nauseum!
Bliar seems to have the interesting, Imperialist idea that the public are there to do what governments say, not the other way round. What a charlatan.

Re: Dis-United Kingdom General Election campaign officially kicks off
Thanks, LL - there's an awful lot of news just now.
A new scientific election predictor suggests that the SNP are ahead in the race for the Orkney and Shetland seat in next month’s UK General Election.
According to statistics from Electoral Calculus the SNP have a 56 per cent chance of winning the Northern Isles constituency, compared to the Liberal Democrats’ 41 per cent.
The figures for Orkney and Shetland put the SNP on 37.8 per cent of the vote, with the Lib Dems on 35.5 per cent.
That's interesting - and close. I thought Orkney and Shetland was a bit of a lost cause, frankly, but Carmichael is a buffoon, and his sticky fingers are all over Frenchgate.
Oh Lord, now Dave's on the set of Game of Thrones in Belfast. No chance of him being toastied by a dragon, I suppose...? And please don't let him sit on the throne....
