Re: POLLING DAY AS IT HAPPENS: TELEGRAPH TV LINK
And the Tories have just taken another LibDem seat in the West Country - LDs are apparently down to 6 seats? They should have remembered a very old saying:
Never trust a Tory.
Milliband should have remembered that, too, he was played all along the line by the Tories.

What a surprise, eh. Sorry UKIP didn't do better, but in terms of votes they did quite well.

IMO, UKIP paid too much attention to Essex Man, and not enough to the disgruntled public further north.
I am trying to catch up, but it's looking as if the Tories and the SNP are the only parties left standing. And Plaid Cymru, of course, though they are fighting an uphill battle.

It looks as though Clarence lost Brighton Pavillion. That'll please The Nasties. As if it even matters. But I expect a Bitch Fest today from them.

They think Clarrie losing is more important than anything else, fools that they are. They don't seem to know that it is normal Tory practise to put rising stars into unwinnable seats for 'training'; pound to a penny Clarrie will be giving a soft Tory seat for the next election.

He came a credibe third, the Greens got circa 22,000, Labor 14,000 and Clarence 12,000bb1 wrote:They think Clarrie losing is more important than anything else, fools that they are. Re: POLLING DAY AS IT HAPPENS: TELEGRAPH TV LINK
Looks quite respectable to me for a first-time Tory candidate in an odd seat like that, LL, but then, they never were known for their smarts.
Meanwhile...

I love the way so many of the big losers are now moaning about First Past The Post voting - mainly because so many of them lost last night.

Some interesting remarks in Cameron's victory speech - I have a feeling he's going to write Scotland off. Mind you, Milliband made such an arse of things, even if he'd won every seat in Scotland, he STILL wouldn't have got into Downing Street.

Here we go ... finished map of Scotland from @scotnational . Now we're all out of yellow pencils
Maybe it's a sort of political Noah's Ark? We've kept one of each as relics?
And why is Murphy on my TV, refusing to resign and going SNP = Evil yet again?

It was Conservative in 1992. Then Labour for 1997 - 2005, then Green in 2010, with Labour second and Conservative third.
So he has maintained the vote. Labour lost ground.

They also think that Esther McVey getting the boot is because of her involvement with the McCanns years ago, Jean-Pierre.
They must have somehow missed her pretty horrible remarks about the disabled, and her being seen as representing the Eton boys in a mainly Labour area.
I know I shouldn't be surprised by now, but their utter ignorance of real life never ceases to astound me.

We have got massive support here and it looks like we are going to win in Falkirk
David Coburn
What actually happened was that he got 3% of the vote and lost his deposit.

Re: POLLING DAY AS IT HAPPENS: TELEGRAPH TV LINK
Oh, and this may give readers some insight into why SLab has been wiped out:
Falkirk
Falkirk was caught up in controversy in 2013 when it emerged that Unite had allegedly signed up 100 new members to the Falkirk Labour party without their knowledge, in order to increase the vote for Unite's preferred candidate to stand in 2015 (who was ultimately not selected). The incumbent Eric Joyce resigned from the Labour party in 2012 after he was charged with assault but has been serving out his term as an Independent. The SNP has a strong base of 15,000 votes in 2010 on which to build.
