A CHILD murderer who has confessed to killing two boys is expected to be investigated over the disappearence of Madeleine McCann.

Detectives in Germany also want to know if the 32-year-old double killer, known only as Silvio S, took five-year-old Inga Gehricke.

Since she vanished on May 2 this year after walking into woods during a family barbecue in the Saxony-Anhalt state, some 50 miles from Berlin, Inga has been known as the German Madeleine.

Scotland Yard detectives seeking Madeleine, who disappeared in Portugal aged three on May 3, 2007, are following developments closely.

It is expected they will ask their German counterparts to check the killer’s passport to see if he was ever in Portugal.

He would have been 24 at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance during a family holiday. Silvio was arrested on Thursday and has since admitted two child killings after his mother gave information to police.

Four-year-old Bosnian refugee Mohammed Januzi was snatched as his parents visited a government welfare office in Berlin on October 1.

Last Tuesday police released CCTV footage of the child being led away from the building by a bearded man.

Later Silvio’s mother called police because she was suspicious about the behaviour of her son.

When officers searched his car last Thursday they found the decomposing body of the Bosnian boy in the boot among cat litter.

Silvio admitted he took the child to his home, sexually abused him and strangled him the following day because he would not stop crying.

While being interviewed by police Silvio also admitted abducting, abusing and killing a six-year-old boy called Elias, who had vanished from the town of Potsdam, near Berlin, in July.

The child, who was enticed into his car, was found buried in the garden of Silvio’s home in the village of Niedergörsdorf, near Berlin.

Police spokesman Stefan Redlich said: “The man confessed overnight that he had also killed Elias.”

It is thought that the boy was also strangled. Winfrid Wenzel, head of the investigation into Mohammed’s disappearance, said officers were “in close contact” with counterparts investigating Inga’s case.

The blonde-haired, blue-eyed child had been with her family enjoying a barbecue at an apartment complex in a forest near Stendal.

It is thought she wandered off to collect wood to light a campfire but never returned.

More than 500 police and volunteers have been searching a vast area of forest, where wolves live, but there has been no sign of her.

Specially trained police dogs have also been unsuccessful in picking up the scent of Inga, who had been wearing a butterfly T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police sources said during interviews Silvio S was “very cold”, showing signs of strong emotion only when he talked about his own family.

He was born in the former communist state of East Germany and worked as a tiler.

His father was a sheep breeder and his mother runs a small corner shop.

Police numbers haven't actually got a lot to do with Farage, Pedro, but this is interesting:

Mr Farage, who has met Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry, went on: "I feel desperately sorry for them, not just for the loss of their child, but some attacks on them have been pretty nasty."

Good for him - I confess, I expected some Bennett-type pitchforking, so I am pleasantly surprised.

A POIGNANT picture of Madeleine McCann in a pumpkin suit has been posted on a campaign site as her parents vow to keep looking for her.

Former GP Kate and heart doctor Gerry, both 47, of Rothley, Leics, have set aside around £750,000 from the Find Maddie Fund. The money will pay for their own private investigators if needed.

Making public the police files of an unsolved case is, frankly, one of the wierdest things ANY police force has ever done - and an appalling breach of trust and confidentiality.

I can't even think of another police force that would close a missing child case without any answers.

As news that manpower behind Scotland Yard’s four-year investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is to be cut back to four officers did the rounds of the world’s press last week, a source from the PJ - carrying out a parallel investigation from Porto - admitted: “We haven’t a clue what happened” to the little girl who went missing from apartment 5a at Luz Ocean Club eight publicity-jammed years ago.

Despite all the police work - not to mention the millions of pounds of taxpayers’ money ploughed into Operation Grange launched in 2011 - police in Portugal say they are no closer to discovering the truth than they were on May 4, when Madeleine’s alleged abduction hit the headlines.

“This is worrying,” explained the source, “because in most cases where no-one is arrested or charged, we know what happened, we just can’t prove it. But in this case, rigorously, there is no definitive idea on what happened. We don’t know a thing.”
