Re: News from Austria
Wouldn't it be nice to go back to the days when news stories were about something other than muslims, and what muslims want, and who muslims are attacking, and how much money muslims want from the rest of us?
More and more people seem to be agreeing with the Austrian chancellor's robust views on the subject.

Re: News from Austria
I am none too sure why Austrians should be expected to foot the bill for brawling Chechens and Afghans, LL....
I suspect this is going to get very nasty indeed as fences go up and gates slam shut.

At least people in other places can see why this action has to happen?
Europe and the US have many similarities at the moment.

A radical preacher who sent a young Muslim father to his death in Syria and then asked his young wife to join his harem has been jailed for six years for terrorism.

Re: News from Austria
Sanders secured roughly 70 percent of the 408 votes cast in Austria, compared to 30 percent for Hillary Clinton, Democrats Abroad reported on Monday.
That's rather interesting, LL, I wonder if ex-pat Dems are less starry-eyed and more realistic about Clinton? If I absolutely had to choose between the two, I'd pick Sanders. She'll print money to stave off financial disaster, and he believes in the Magic Money Tree, but at least Sanders is unlikely to set any more of the world on fire.
And-
Other practical advice such as where to go when you’re ill and what to do with rubbish are also covered.
Good idea, as they all seem to think you throw rubbish on the ground and out windows for someone else to pick up.

I got a load of Sponsored Content at the foot of the page when I wasn't Logged In. It's gone now. But I do hope that this Site earns some money when the Nasties come looking.
Not that I would want to put them off, of course.

Re: News from Austria
I wouldn't know the difference between them, I have no desire to get involved, they are nothing to do with me. In fact I am totally bored with the whole thing. Re the rubbish chucked into the streets, it's normal practice in many places in the world; Vienna is normally a clean city, as is Budapest. Paris has shoulder high dog-doo, London has old McDonalds boxes, plastic bottles and fag ends strewn all over the place, and they are 'civilised' cities in modern countries. There was a recent AlJazeera piece on the TV where they showed garbage piled up all over the place in one of the third world countries. LL

Re: News from Austria
I have a deep hatred of litter, LL, it's a bit like broken windows - it doesn't take much to start dragging an area down. And it's sheer laziness and anti-social selfishness, IMO.

Oh, so did I when I tried it, Sabot. I'd noticed those on MM, I didn't know we had them, too. I confess to occasionally being tempted to click some of the more bizarre-looking links on other sites.
I assume we can't see them as members so we can't cheat the statistics?

It seems to be a rarely new thing, Bonny, because I have recently noticed it elsewhere. These adverts of any kind do seem to be related to other things that we individually do on line. Highly amusing. But something is taking note. Probably Bots.

Re: News from Austria
People who litter should be made to clean up for a set number of hours/days as penance.

Re: News from Austria
There is never any litter for any length of time around here because we all pick it up on the rare occasions that it happens.
Except for the dog shit of course. But that disintegrates fairly rapidly.

Re: News from Austria
I will be honest, it baffles me that nutters even regard it as a shrine, LL - it's not as if he did any Nazi-ing in it. I hope the government put it to good use, it looks like a lovely building, and it would, IMO, be a shame to see it demolished just because of one unpleasant past resident.

He was 3 years old when his family moved; it was a disabled childrens' home . It is indeed a lovely building - the nazis consider anywhere he lived as a shrine.
