From the longer piece:
The top counter-terrorism official responsible for Turkey’s campaign against Islamic State did go to a “meeting” at the presidential palace in Ankara. He was later found with his hands tied behind his back, shot in the neck, according to a senior official.
Greece might like to consider building a wall along their border - and turning back all 'refugees' coming from Turkey.

Turkey 85 generals, admirals charged in coup attempt

Yes, he's following the script pretty closely, isn't he? It can't be long before elections are abolished 'for the good of Turkey', or because he's so beloved, there's no need for them.
It would, IMO, be a very good idea for the US to remove their nuclear warheads from Turkey before it's too late.

My son tells me that the exiled cleric he wants extradited is dedicated to following the precepts of Kemel Ataturk, and his supporters are mainly in the military, bureaucrats etc, Unlike Erdogan, who is a fundamentalist muslim, most of the arrested are 'secular' muslims, ie they believe in the state Ataturk set up. Unfortunately, LL, IMO, Erdogan is going to Purge anyone he can get his hands on - and bring back the death penalty.
Where this leaves NATO and the EU, I can't even begin to guess. I will be delighted if events prove me wrong, but I have an extremely bad feeling about the new dictatorship of Turkey.

Re: Military coup underway in Turkey
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/19/turkey-demands-resignation-of-every-university-dean-in-country-a/
Turkey fires 21,000 teachers and demands suspension of every university dean in country in post-coup crackdown
urkey’s post-coup crackdown took a more sinister turn on Tuesday after tens of thousands of teachers were fired and all the country’s university deans were told they faced suspension.
The licenses of 21,000 staff working in private schools were revoked, more than 15,000 employees at the education ministry were sacked, and the state-run higher education council demanded the resignation of 1,577 university deans.
The purge is part of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s heavy-handed attempt to root out supporters of Fethullah Gülen, the US-based cleric accused of orchestrating the failed revolt, whose movement is accused of infiltrating state institutions.
Ankara says the reclusive Mr Gulen, who wields enormous influence in Turkey through loyalists in various apparatus as well as a private school network school, hatched the plot to end Mr Erdogan's 13 years in power from his home in Pennsylvania.
"I'm sorry but this parallel terrorist organisation will no longer be an effective pawn for any country," Binali Yildirim, Turkey’s prime minister, said.
"We will dig them up by their roots so that no clandestine terrorist organisation will have the nerve to betray our blessed people again."
On Tuesday he handed to the US a dossier of what he said was evidence of Mr Gulen’s involvement in the mutiny and called for his swift extradition.
The Turkish lira sank to a lower level than during Friday’s attempted coup after the ministry’s announcement, hitting more than $3 per lira.
The suspensions followed Monday’s purge targeting other ministries and state institutions.
The employees include 9,000 police, 2,745 judges, 8,777 from the interior ministry 1,500 from the finance ministry, 257 staff working at the prime minister’s office, at least 100 from the National Intelligence Agency MIT, 399 from the family and social affairs ministry and 492 from the religious affairs ministry.
Officials signalled that the country was to undergo further major changes in the coming days. Mevlut Cavusoglu, the foreign minister, cancelled his visit to Washington to attend a National Security Council meeting tomorrow, where Mr Erdogan said that he would issue an “important announcement” following the meeting. ...etc

Today, 11pm Anakara Time, WikiLeaks releases part one of the AKP Emails. AKP, or the Justice & Development Party, is the ruling party of Turkey and is the political force behind the country's president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Part one of the series covers 762 mail boxes beginning with 'A' through to 'I' containing 294,548 email bodies together with many thousands of attached files. The emails come from "akparti.org.tr", the AKP's primary domain. The most recent was sent on July 6, 2016. The oldest dates back to 2010. It should be noted that emails associated with the domain are mostly used for dealing with the world, as opposed to the most sensitive internal matters.
The material was obtained a week before the attempted coup. However, WikiLeaks has moved forward its publication schedule in response to the government's post-coup purges. We have verified the material and the source, who is not connected, in any way, to the elements behind the attempted coup, or to a rival political party or state.
Edrogan will now round up anyone with a keyboard in case it was them who did it......

British teachers caught up in Turkey crackdown as Erdogan bans academics from leaving country and orders those overseas to return
Turkey has banned all academics from leaving the country after cancelling their annual leave, as President Tayyip Erdogan's post-coup crackdown escalated to "exceptional proportions".
Teachers were on Wednesday told they could not travel abroad for work, and those overseas were ordered to return.
One British lecturer at a state-run university in Istanbul told the Telegraph that foreign nationals had also been told to come back to work.
“It's summer break and we've all been summoned back to work as all annual leave has been cancelled,” said the teacher, who did not wish to give her name.
The lecturer, who is currently abroad, said both local and international staff received a letter from the university saying they must report for work at 8.30am tomorrow.
“I've heard from the secretary that we have to stay in Istanbul and aren't allowed to leave - no idea how that would be enforced but as our work permit cards have ID numbers and workplaces written on them, it's possible. I don't know about other teachers but I am very concerned.”
She has contacted the British embassy in the country to check whether the move is legal. ...etc.
When a country is taken over by a dictator, anything he orders becomes 'legal'.
