I liked the bit when the Chuckle Brothers got involved, though.
That is absolutely true, Bonny. I remember seeing them on Top of the Pops. Everyone was cuddly in those days and yes, girls/women were very capable of slapping faces.
Those police and CPS people must have thought they had it made - not forgetting the allegators.

Re: Not Guilty.
Interesting. My guess is that the CPS will call it quits and retire hurt.
I hope they will then reconsider pursuing this sort of case.
The problem is that it detracts from more serious abuse cases, (such as the grooming of vulnerable young girls by gangs) and makes it less likely that they will be believed.

One of my main objections to this circus, Jean-Pierre. Whoever it's benefiting, it's not GENUINE victims. As for..

Re: Not Guilty.
Hope you are right J-P. Do they even care that this will probably have set back some serious abuse cases? I think its all about a fast way to the money now.

You know. I hope that after he has recovered a bit, that he sues the pants off the media who put him through hell. They have put him through the wringer as they did Saville, Roache and others.
Plus, I hope that the CPS prosecutes the real and serious abuse cases instead of putting their efforts into witch hunts.

Re: Not Guilty.
This kangaroo court with the Hairy Cornflake has cost three million quid so far, Lily - and is anyone the better for it? Has one less real abuse victim, adult or child, male or female, been helped by it?
Have they hell. All the witchhunters have succeeded in doing is making it LESS likely for genuine victims to be believed, thanks to them.

Mark Williams-Thomas @mwilliamsthomas 11h
@SallyShorthose very true - tv & armchair viewers - too much reliance on need for corroboration & forensics

@richardjgooch thing is supporting evidence takes many forms - is it time for Jurors to receive some totally impartial guidance
Oh, God forbid impartial jurors should be able to think for themselves when convicting people of heinous crimes. Clearly, they're in need of 'guidance' from self-proclaimed 'experts'.
If the police have any sense whatsoever left, they will start taking a closer look at that faker - and what he's got on his hard drives.
Anyone as keen as that to subvert the law and convict innocent people has got rather a lot to hide, IMO.

Man cleared of blackmail
A journalist has been cleared of threatening to blackmail a funeral firm over claims more than one person was buried in the same grave.
It was alleged that freelance reporter Mark Williams-Thomas, of Beech Lane, Hindhead, Surrey, demanded money from the chief executive of Dignity Funerals.
But a jury at Chichester Crown Court took under an hour to clear Mr Williams-Thomas.
He claimed a former Dignity employee had told him bodies had been buried "inappropriately" at a cemetery in Leatherhead, Surrey.
Internal investigation
It was alleged that Mr Williams-Thomas had arranged to meet Dignity chief executive Peter Hindley in January 2002 in order to demand money for his story.
But Mr Williams-Thomas insisted he had only wanted to discuss the allegations and to ask for an internal investigation.
In a statement outside court, the solicitor for Mr Williams-Thomas said: "My client is proud of the work that he has undertaken if it serves to uncover unscrupulous practices and opens it up to public scrutiny.
"My client has denied these allegations from day one and has remained consistent with his version of events."
A statement from Dignity Funerals said they were pleased to put the matter behind them
Sounds like that jury could have done with a bit of 'advice' before he was cleared. No smoke without fire and all that.

Re: Not Guilty.
I wonder if the same PC bien-pensants who are so keen to witch-hunt elderly zelebs have anything to do with this disgusting shower?

I am reminded again of how much the politically correct have to say about ancient DJs, and how little about Asian gangs pimping children out.

Dave Lee Travis To Face Sex Assault Retrial
Prosecutors seek a retrial for the former Radio 1 DJ on one count of indecent assault and another of sexual assault.
Oh, why not just throw him in the river and see if he floats?

Re: Not Guilty.
It's disgusting, nothing but a show trial while REAL scandals are swept under the carpet.
I assume the witchhunters can get away with dragging him back to court till they get the verdict they want because the jeopardy laws were rewritten to suit the Lawrences and the Daily Mail?

My my my.
Frankly, I think ALL these historic cases and allegations should be put on hold until there has been a full, complete, honest and accountable investigation.
Into Mark-Williams Thomas, the Matthew Hopkins of our time.
I shudder to think what proper policemen would find on 's harddrives, he's another one who is way too interested in the unsavoury for there not to be more to it than meets the eye, especially as his 'expertise' is self-proclaimed.

I confess to not having read much of it, as so much seemed to centre around the size of Clifford's willy.
