Migrant children rescued from Austria minivan 'recovering'

Three children are recovering in hospital in Austria after being rescued from a minivan containing 26 migrants.

Police said the severely dehydrated children would not have lasted much longer in the cramped vehicle.

The minivan was stopped in Braunau district on Friday and the Romanian driver was arrested after a chase.

Separately, four men appeared in court in Hungary following the discovery last week of another truck in Austria containing the bodies of 71 people.

The three Bulgarians and an Afghan, who were arrested in Hungary, were remanded in custody until 29 September. Austria is expected to seek their extradition.

A police spokesman said that the children were crammed in the back of the minivan along with the other migrants, said to be from Syria, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

He said the children - aged about five or six - were critically ill and almost unconscious. Officials said on Saturday that their lives were no longer in danger but they are still in hospital.

Police said they had tried to stop the vehicle and gave chase when it drove off at speed. The migrants said they were hoping to reach Germany.

Many migrants fall prey to smugglers who wait near the refugee camps, offering to take them at a high price on to western Europe,

Home Secretary Theresa May has called for the free movement of people within the EU to be limited to those who have a job.

Writing in the Sunday Times, Ms May said that EU rules were "the biggest single factor" preventing Britain from reaching its immigration targets.

"When it was first enshrined, free movement meant the freedom to move to a job, not the freedom to cross borders to look for work or claim benefits," she wrote.

"Yet last year, four out of 10 EU migrants, 63,000 people, came here with no definite job whatsoever.

"We must take some big decisions, face down powerful interests and reinstate the original principle underlying free movement within the EU."

Ms May's call came days after new figures showed that net migration to Britain was an estimated 330,000 in the year to March. It was the highest number of record.

Europe has been shaken by a string of recent migrant tragedies. Just days ago, 71 migrants, including four children, were found dead in a lorry in Austria.

And three children are in a critical condition after they were rescued from a separate lorry carrying 26 migrants, also in Austria.

In the Mediterranean, about 250 people died as two boats full of migrants capsized last Thursday in the latest tragedy at sea. The bodies of two suspected migrants found floating in the Mediterranean were recovered by the Italian Navy on Saturday.

Ms May said the deaths of migrants should be a "wake-up call" for Brussels that the Schengen agreement, which Britain is not a part of, has "exacerbated" the "tragedies".

"Its leaders must consider the consequences of uncontrolled migration - on wages, jobs and social cohesion of the destination nations; on the economies and societies of the rest; and on the lives and welfare of those who seek to come here," she wrote.

Ms May's call for limits to the freedom of movement is likely to irk EU partners at a time when David Cameron is renegotiating the terms of Britain's relationship with Brussels ahead of a referendum.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has previously said the free movement of people is a non-negotiable pillar of the EU.

Merkel won't like that, but I personally don't give a XXXX what Merkel thinks, not after Greece and now this invasion, which she has encouraged.

Incidentally, I don't recall voting for the German Chancellor to be in charge of MY life.

Migrant crisis: New arrest over Austria lorry deaths

Hungarian police say they have arrested a fifth man over the deaths of 71 people, thought to be migrants, found in an abandoned lorry in Austria.

The man is the fourth Bulgarian to be held over the find near the Hungarian border. The other man is Afghan.

Meanwhile, Germany, France and the UK have called for urgent EU talks on the escalating migration crisis in Europe.

On Sunday, France's foreign minister said the attitude of several countries towards the crisis was "scandalous".

Hungarian police said in a statement that the fifth man was arrested late on Saturday "on suspicion of committing the crime of people smuggling".

Authorities believe the men are low-level members of a human trafficking gang and hope the arrests will help them uncover the leaders of the group.

In a court hearing on Saturday, the four men arrested last week insisted they were innocent. Austria could seek to have them extradited.

Re the minivan story above, the three children taken to a local Austrian hospital for treatment have disappeared along with their parents. It seems the police told them they must apply for asylum in Austria or they would be deported back to Hungary. The people refused as they said they were going to Germany. The police think that, as the town (Branau) is literally on the German-Austrian border. The minivan has Spanish numberplates and the driver Romanian.

Not much you can say, LL - apart from, it's about time the army was sent in, or armies, to clear those camps out.

And those 27 that were found a few days ago are ALREADY draining UK taxpayers' money. Between the police, ambulances and the NHS, that's a good few thousand down the toilet.

And we will be expected to keep them in comfort till their cases are heard. If they are turned down for asylum, then they won't simply be deported, the EU human rights lawyers will jump on the gravy train.

All paid for by British taxpayers.

It's a piece of damned nonsense when so many of our own people are going without.

One person was reported killed and at least three injured after shooting broke out in the Rinkeby district, near Stockholm. The area is heavily populated by immigrants.
Two people were taken to the hospital in serious condition, Aftonbladet newspaper reported police as saying. Later, police said that one of them died.

One of the victims was probably stabbed several times and shot with a gun.

Another two people were slightly injured, one of them arriving at the hospital on their own, while the second did not need medical attention. Police said they were probably injured by ricochets.

The shooting broke out in the central square, with the area now being sealed off by authorities.

Four grenade attacks this week have rocked Malmo, the third largest city in Sweden, prompting police to sound an alarm over the increasing violence. Multiple explosions, shootings and arson struck the city, which has a large migrant population.
On Sunday, the southern Swedish city of Malmo saw the fourth grenade attack in under a week as the a hand grenade was detonated in a car park in the district of Värnhem in the morning, local media reported.

The attack came after a blast on Friday in the Solbacken neighborhood, which occurred less than 12 hours after another explosion in the residential area of Limhamn in the west, and two days after a car bomb attack that injured a man outside a community center in the south.

“It is the thirtieth explosive attack since the New Year. We have a situation that is serious,” said the Malmö police chief, Stefan Sintéus, about the explosion on Friday, as quoted by the Local.se on Saturday.

The local police have called for expert help from the national police operational department. “We have asked for shared expertise on various issues,” said Lars Förstell, a spokesperson for the city’s police, as quoted by the media.

This week’s unrest continues a series of numerous shootings, explosions and arsons that have occurred since the beginning of the year in Malmo, infamous for high crime rates, multi-ethnic and gang-related violence.....more at link.

Not surprisingly, the moonbats are on course to be booted out of office at the next election in, I believe, 2018. There should have been an election this year, but the moonbats cooked up a coalition to keep them in power a bit longer.

Migrants, many fleeing the war in Syria, try to reach Germany by train as Austrian checks on vehicles find 200 people in hours.

Trains carrying hundreds of migrants have been stopped at Hungary's border with Austria as new checks on vehicles crossing road borders between the two countries caused huge tailbacks.

The trains, at least one of which was bound for Munich in Germany, were halted at Hegyeshalom due to "overcrowding", according to local authorities.

After several hours, four trains were allowed to carry on towards the Austrian capital, Vienna with some of the passengers having disembarked, according to a Reuters reporter.

But Austrian police said they all still remained at the border.

Drivers on the M1 motorway between Austria and Hungary, meanwhile, faced jams of up to 18 miles and delays were reported on other roads as tighter controls aimed at stopping people smuggling were introduced.

Officials said 200 asylum seekers and five suspected people traffickers had been found during the first few hours of the operation.

Konrad Kogler, director general for public security at Austria's interior ministry, said the checks had been agreed with Germany, Hungary and Slovakia, and did not violate the Schengen agreement which guarantees the free movement of people in the EU.

"It is about ensuring that people are safe, that they are not dying, on the one hand, and about traffic security, on the other," he said.

Earlier it was reported that hundreds of migrants had boarded at least two trains in Budapest heading for the border as the Hungarian police appeared to relax controls around Keleti station.

A police spokesman in Vienna said train passengers who had not already applied for asylum in Hungary would be allowed to enter and would have two weeks to decide whether to seek to stay there.

It was the Hungarians who, with the help of the Austrians, opened their common border and allowed the Berlin Osties to get through to West Berlin and bring down the Berlin Mauer. If the EU doesn’t succeed in fairly distributing refugees coming from war-torn countries, the passport-free Schengen zone will need to be reviewed, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Monday after Hungary asked Berlin to “clarify” the legal situation on refugees.

Mrs Merkel promised to use "the full force of the law" against those who abuse or attack migrants or their accommodation.

"There is no tolerance toward those who question the dignity of other people," she said, urging Germans to "keep your distance" from anti-migrant protests.

Heil Merkel - who the Hell does she think she is? How dare she lecture the Slovaks for protecting their people by only accepting Christian Syrians? They are 100 times more likely to settle down peacefully in Slovakia, because they have shared beliefs, values and cultures with the native Slovaks.

And if she keep on trying to clamp down on dissent in Germany, it is going to blow up spectacularly in her face.
