One or two people seemed to be unaware that the provenance of the Amaral domestic abuse complaint was established long ago.

It was accepted as genuine by a Portuguese court.

It is also part of the complaint about him currently with the UNHRC.

Seems reasonable to me. If a lawyer is 300 km away, that presents quite considerable difficulty. I'm sure that not everything can be done by email, Skype or on the phone. There will be documents to go over in fine detail, which have to be signed and discussions that are best undertaken face to face. I have great faith in a country that will allow a man some time to properly instruct a new legal representative.

So, he's found one, has he? Oh, and knowing he would be facing this upheaval, at the worst possible time, why did Gonc leave his friends, family and long-time lawyer in the Algarve and move to Lisbon in the first place?

Yes, I saw that, Greenink. I was surprised people were unaware that the documents were verified some time ago, though I know it is hard to follow every single strand of the whole tangled mess.

I am waiting eagerly to see how Ms Morais is going to spin the business of the libel trial being postponed.

Their version seems to go:

For some unknown reason, Gonc is now living in Lisbon, not the Algarve.

He chose this course of action in full knowledge of the trouble it would cause.

He cannot afford to travel to the Algarve; despite a bus ticket costing less than €20. This is especially odd as his defence fund should, according to the last reports published in 2010, have several thousand euros in it.

If one were to believe their version, then it means that Gonc has deliberately screwed up the trial that all his fans have been waiting for, the one in which he was going to produce his fabled Ace.

A pretty bad show, really - if one believed that, then one could be forgiven for coming to the conclusion that Gonc was scared.

Meanwhile, in the real world - for reasons so far unknown, it was Cabrita who dumped Gonc, and Lisbon lawyers are not exactly rushing to defend him.

And one or two other little problems for Gonc may be about to erupt; we await confimation on that.

It`s been reported by a poster on MCF who appears to be a very reliable source that the Amaral Libel Case has been postponed. Suggestion is that revised date may be notified this week.

Anna Robson Those are the Correia/ACED dates, I cant find any trace of the Mcs v Amaral anywhere on that link. Perhaps it'll appear again if the case has been postponed with a revised date?

Pia Bouquin The trial HAS BEEN postponed. I got the info from a reliable source. Obviously GA requested this and it was accepted. The new dates should be announced soon (soon being relative in Portugal).

Pia Bouquin Gonçalo Amaral lives in Lisbon now and his former lawyer is in Faro. The distance caused too many problems.Maybe he also wanted a lawyer who would use a different strategy. GA's a grown man and knows what he is doing. Take my advice and just don't pay any attention to the pros. They're going to find something no matter what.

Well, what else do they expect, when they try to spin a ridiculous story about their idol deciding, a couple of weeks ahead of a huge trial, that he is going to change his long-time lawyer and then asks for the trial to be postponed?

They're the ones spreading that version, so who could blame people for thinking Gonc is running scared?

I wonder how the Portuguese justice system will look on this spinning by Goncalo Amaral's pals if, as seems likely, they know it is complete nonsense? I wonder would they not expect Amaral to do the decent thing and tell his friends the truth? It probably won't be a legal point but could easily colour their thinking.

If I have got this right,

Amaral is a convicted liar.

His wife wrote a letter about him which the courts accept as from her but which she seems to have lied about in an interview.

And now he is apparently condoning silly lies from his friends about not being able to use a lawyer who is less than 175 miles away by good roads.

Not the best background with which to approach the bench of any court in my view.

The forum was made in Portugal doesn't make sense, but I think we get the general idea....it is some kind of crime, punishable by a nasty accident on those dangerous police station stairs, to even read the documents, never mind reproduce them.

Not quite as bad as selling purloined diaries though....

I digress; I have bad news for Maria. Copies of those documents are EVERYWHERE, including the UNHRC. I don't know how true it is, but I have heard their liberation was assisted by PJ members who detest Gonc for disgracing them.

I have further bad news for Maria; lots of us have our very own copies of them - so she is wasting her time trying to cover it up any more.

Oh, and wasn't it nice of her to confirm that they are GENUINE PJ documents for anyone who still harboured doubts? Almost as clever as Morais trying to bully J4 and only succeeding in confirming that the Golden Bullets tape was genuine.
