165 Pages of Affidavits? Bloody Hell, who's going to read out those? The entire Court will be asleep for most of the proceedings. I can't believe he will be allowed to do that. Will he?
And anyway, I thought this was about breaking his Undertaking and not about what Amaral has had to say.

I must admit that I don't know much about Hearings, LL. But Isabel Hudson will make minced meat out of Bennett anyway.

I think the judge will regard going all the way to Westminster, deliberately sitting behind Gerry McCann to send out a message that they were looking over his shoulder and watching him, will regard that as just a bit more serious than circulating rubbish from a disgraced ex-policeman with a criminal conviction for telling lies.

The judge may well regard Bennett as something of a liar himself.

Actually the whole reason for this Contempt of Court Hearing is for Bennett to defend himself against the charge that he has lied.

He gave an undertaking to the High Court that he would not continue his attacks on the McCann family.

No matter how much Bennett may wish otherwise. No matter how much distracting bumf Bennett may submit to the court, the ONLY ISSUE this hearing will look at is the question as to why Bennett lied when giving that undertaking.

We all know he lied. He has continued to sell his book, he has continued to attack the McCanns on that forum he uses and he has continued to encourage others in the same actions.

The Judge has one simple job. He has to look at the evidence which Carter Ruck have provided of his clear breach of the undertaking he gave and then determine what sentence to pass on Tony Bennett. That's all.

No matter how many witnesses, appeals to ECHR, divine right of kings or any other authority, that is the basic problem Bennett faces. He gave the undertaking, he broke that undertaking and now he is to be punished for breaking that undertaking.

Just to add, his punishment could be imprisonment but that would not be at the request of the McCanns as he lies. They have asked for a suspended sentence at most. BUT the Judge could (as Bennett clearly knows) overrule this request by the McCanns for comparitive leniency and determine that Bennett has gone to far and send him down for a few days "to encourage the others".

You have to laugh. Most of them are on Benefits and living in Council Houses but they would rather give their ill gotten gains to Bennett when he has got a hundred grand in the bank.
