When you consider the standard of player available to the Irish Manager and then compare it to those the Spanish coach can choose from, the result is no surprise.

The Spanish achieved an all-time Euros passing record in the match tonight. 859 passes in a match is outstanding. Its almost ten passes every single minute of the game for just one of the teams.

I think I am still suffering palpitations. Why do England always make the games so difficult for us supporters?

Still it looks as though we might now get past the group stages. I think the next match versus Ukraine will be a lot tougher though.

Err, pass. Actually we will know very soon the possible fate of the Euro, as the Greeks vote today. Last week there was a punch up in the Euro Parliament over Schengen. LL

There was also a punch up between a far-right Greek politician and a woman (he was the aggressor) on live television this week. Not a good sign that a peaceful resolution to Greece's problems can be found.

Greek tails may well be up as they, somehow or other, defeated the mighty Russia.

This, IMO, makes them more likely to tell the EU to get lost. And then all Hell will break loose.

Uefa Probes England Fans' 'Pitch Invasion Bid'
Sky News – 17 minutes ago

Uefa has launched disciplinary proceedings against the Football Association over the "inappropriate conduct" of England fans at the Euro 2012 Championships. The governing body of football in Europe is investigating an attempted pitch invasion by supporters during Friday's game against Sweden. England won the group D match at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine.

Uefa said on its website that it was looking into the "inappropriate behaviour" of supporters and an "attempted invasion of the field of play". The case will be dealt with by Uefa's Control and Disciplinary Body on June 20.

Sky News sports presenter Chris Skudder said: "It happened after fans celebrated Theo Walcott's equalising goal in the 3-2 win against Sweden.

"Uefa say that was inappropriate.... but the FA are not very happy.
"They may launch an appeal against that, for what they consider was just over-exuberance by the fans."

The Football Association said it was considering its response to Uefa's statement.
A spokesman for the FA said: "We acknowledge Uefa's statement of today, and we will respond accordingly."

A goal each from Andy Carroll, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck secured the win for Roy Hodgson's side against Sweden.

It means just a draw is needed from Tuesday's final group match against co-hosts Ukraine for England to secure a place in the knock-out stages of the competition.
For Sweden, the result left them bottom of the standings with no points and ended their hopes of going through.
