It hadn't occurred to me that MWT might have ulterior motives for his irresponsibility. Mind you, I think he's just an egotistical dipstick.

Re: Jimmy Savile accused in ITV documentary
The palpably false abuse accusations were generated by promises of compensation – after Mr Greenwood ‘trawled’ for victims in a newspaper for serving prisoners, who knew they could be in line for substantial compensation. Many came forward to claim they were victims – but ended up making final statements that bore little resemblance to their initial stories.
Mr Greenwood has accepted huge legal aid payments – yet Humberside Police are now investigating some of his clients on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice and fraud. So far three have been arrested and interviewed under caution. Police say others will follow.
Mr Greenwood, who triggered the current police inquiry, has now derailed it, by advising all of his clients not to co-operate with detectives. He has even threatened that if police do try to approach them, he will make complaints of harassment.
Potentially genuine abuse victims now have no chance of seeing their abusers prosecuted – because Mr Greenwood has pulled the plug on the current inquiry.

Sounds rather familiar; I do hope MWT and his merry band of compo-seekers read it.
And as the piece makes clear, GENUINE abuse victims have less chance than ever of being listened to because of fakes, frauds, ambulance-chasers and bandwagon-jumpers.

An 82-year-old man arrested over an allegation of rape and indecent assault is named by Sky sources as broadcaster Stuart Hall
An 82-year-old man arrested over an allegation of rape and indecent assault has been named by Sky sources as broadcaster Stuart Hall.
Lancashire Police detained the man at his home in Wilmslow, Cheshire, earlier today, the force said.
He was taken to a police station for questioning on the allegations, described as "historic".
A spokesman said: "An 82-year-old man from Wilmslow in Cheshire has this morning been arrested by Lancashire Police at his home address on suspicion of rape and indecent assault.
"The man will be interviewed at a police station during the course of the day. The allegations are historic.
"We would encourage people with any information about sexual abuse or who has been a victim of sexual abuse to come forward and report their concerns confident in the knowledge it will be investigated appropriately and with sensitivity."

So much for all the libellous speculation the hounders have been enjoying.

....And the hounders are polishing their pitchforks for this latest arrestee:
Thank you upatoffee, OMG I am totally shocked. I used to love Stuart Hall, even went to see It's a Knockout once, in the freezing cold. Totally gutted I am, can't beleive it!!
I hope to God none of them are ever on a jury, as they assume that because someone has been arrested, it automatically means they are guilty.
It doesn't seem to matter to them that it is courts of law that decide guilt and innocence, not a bunch of internet pitchforkers.

Re: Jimmy Savile accused in ITV documentary
It might also be an idea if they all stopped speculating about the man who was so viciously named by MWT last week:

Man in 80s released after speaking to Jimmy Savile case officers
No action has been taken by police against a Berkshire man in his 80s interviewed under caution as part of a post Jimmy Savile investigation.
The man attended a south London police station by appointment on Thursday and left the station the same day.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said he was interviewed under caution by officers working on Operation Yewtree and had not been asked to return for further questioning.
The force executed a search warrant at an address in Berkshire on Saturday last week.
Operation Yewtree is a police investigation into alleged child sexual exploitation by the late Jimmy Savile and others, which started in October.

How odd - MWT doesn't appear to have tweeted an apology.

Stuart Hall charged with indecent assault
The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Lancashire Police to charge Stuart Hall, aged 82, from Wilmslow, Cheshire with three charges of indecent assault following recent complaints to police about alleged incidents in the 1970s and 1980s.
John Dilworth, Head of CPS North West Complex Casework Unit, said:
“Following investigations by Lancashire Police into allegations of sexual assault by Stuart Hall I have reviewed all the evidence that they have gathered and have authorised Lancashire police to charge him with three counts of indecent assault. The charges are that between 1 September 1974 and 31 December 1974 he indecently assaulted a woman who was then aged 16 or 17 years, that between 1 January 1983 and 31 December 1983 he indecently assaulted a girl then aged 8 or 9 years, and that between 1 July 1984 and 27 September 1984 he indecently assaulted a girl then aged 13 years. He has been bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on 7 January 2013.
“This decision is made in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors and I have concluded that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and that it is in the public interest to prosecute this case. With criminal proceedings now underway, I would like to stress the importance that nothing is placed in the public domain that could prejudice a future trial. For these reasons, we will not be commenting further about the case at this time."

Operation Yewtree officers arrest man
Metropolitan Police officers have arrested another man as part of Operation Yewtree, the investigation into historic sex offences.
In a brief statement, Scotland Yard said that officers had arrested a man in his 60s in connection with the investigation.
The man was arrested at 07:40 GMT on suspicion of sexual offences and taken to a central London police station.
The arrest is the sixth made as part of the operation.
The Metropolitan Police launched Operation Yewtree after revelations that the late Jimmy Savile sexually abused young people during his broadcasting career. The Yewtree investigation has three separate parts.
One is looking at the actions of Jimmy Savile while the other two strands are investigations into allegations against "Savile and others" and, separately, complaints against other people.
Scotland Yard said the man arrested on Thursday morning had been arrested as part of the investigation into this last category.

How on earth can '500 Savile victims' have been investigated in a bit over two months? That's nearly ten a day. Even supposing half of them complained about some other ancient/dead celeb, it makes no sense.
Not that much of it ever did.

Frankly, I don't believe it - it takes longer than that to deal with disputed parking tickets.

Savile abuse part of Operation Yewtree probe 'complete'
Allegations that the late DJ was a paedophile first emerged in October
The strand of a police operation investigating abuse carried out by Jimmy Savile has been completed, with the number of victims now believed to be well over 500, the BBC understands.
Scotland Yard said Operation Yewtree, the inquiry into historic abuse, was collating its report and hoped to publish early in the New Year.
Yewtree has three strands - offences committed by Savile, those by him and others and those just by others.
Seven people have been questioned.
Of these six were under arrest. High-profile names arrested in connection with the investigation are PR consultant Max Clifford, comedian Freddie Starr, DJ Dave Lee Travis and former TV producer Wilfred De'Ath, who all deny any wrongdoing. Gary Glitter, who was also arrested, has not yet made a statement.
A man in his 80s was also questioned and a man in his 60s was arrested on Monday.
Operation Yewtree has 30 officers and has so far cost around £2m.
Scotland Yard said it hoped to provide as clear a picture as possible of Savile's offending, "giving a voice to those who have come forward and helping shape future child protection safeguards".
"We are extremely grateful to those victims who have contacted us and commend their bravery. Without them we would have no investigation," a spokesman said.
"To date, in excess of 500 victims have come forward and we have recorded 200 allegations of sexual assault."
Savile, who died last year aged 84, was best known as a Radio 1 DJ and the presenter of the Jim'll Fix It show on BBC One.
The BBC has announced two inquiries as a result of the abuse claims and a further review into the current sexual harassment policies at the corporation.
There is a further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the dropping of a Newsnight investigation into Savile.
Other inquiries being carried out into Savile's behaviour, besides Operation Yewtree, include the director of public prosecutions' review into the decision not to prosecute Savile in 2009.

So, more about twenty allegations have been thoroughly investigated, witness statements taken, records checked and paperwork done, every single week since October?
Sorry, don't believe it.
Sabot, I just do not see how it is possible to properly investigate so many allegations in such a short period of time, unless 90% of them have gone straight in the bin.
Maybe others think differently?

Jimmy Savile scandal: Pollard inquiry to report in week of 17 December
Former Sky boss Nick Pollard has investigated the BBC's handling of its aborted Newsnight documentary
The Pollard inquiry into BBC executives' handling of the axed BBC Newsnight investigation into Jimmy Savile is to be published in the week of 17 December.
A source close to the inquiry said the review, which has not yet finished taking evidence from key BBC figures, is likely to be completed on 17, 18 or 19 December.
The BBC is expected to publish the report in full shortly after its completion.
Headed by former Sky News boss Nick Pollard, the investigation is looking into whether there were management failings in the BBC's handling of the aborted Newsnight probe in late 2011 into alleged sexual abuse by Savile.
The inquiry was due to report in mid-November but has been overwhelmed by the vast amount of evidence being assessed. Former director generals George Entwistle and Mark Thompson have been interviewed in the Leveson inquiry-style process by Alan Maclean QC, who represented Tony Blair and Alastair Campbell during the Hutton inquiry.
Most of the interviews with BBC staff have already taken place at the London offices of law firm Reed Smith, but those close to the Pollard review said it may be necessary to call witnesses for further evidence before the report is concluded.
Lord Patten, chairman of the BBC Trust, told MPs last week that disciplinary action against BBC staff would be outlined later this month, if either the Pollard inquiry into the abandoned Newsnight report or a second inquiry into the same programme's botched Lord McAlpine story last month found that such action was necessary.
Jeremy Paxman, Newsnight's best-known presenter, and Kirsty Wark, another programme veteran, and Helen Boaden, the BBC's "recused" director of news, are among those who have given evidence to Pollard, as have the reporter and producer at the centre of the storm about the axed Savile film – Liz MacKean and Meirion Jones.
==========
That may give some idea which way the wind is blowing?

I think some of them are getting a bit irate because no one believes them, Bonny.
What a surprise. No money coming their way.

There are shrieks of outrage coming from Icke's Lizard People - this must be the first time I have ever agreed with them....the allegations simply could NOT have been fully investigated in this timescale.
The reports are going to make fascinating reading, and it's interesting that the police are holding theirs back till after the BBC one, which is due out next week.
Nope, can't even begin to work out what it all means.

I can. They haven't proved that Jimmy Savile was even a dirty old man because the complainants have been embellishing and telling downright porkies.
What a bloody waste of time and money.
But I don't suppose that Jimmy Savile cares.

With all the hype and hoohah, I reckon the police have worked their socks off winnowing out the real allegations from the liars and get rich quick claimants. I expect Alfred Marks has been overwhelmed with requests for agency staff to help the Met. Probably about 20/25 'real' claimants left. It will be fascinating to see what comes out of all this. LL

500 victims, 200 allegations: full shocking scale of Jimmy Savile's alleged sexual abuse to be revealed
Scotland Yard to publish report in New Year
More than 500 people have come forward as victims of the late DJ and television presenter Jimmy Savile, police said today.
Over 200 allegations of sexual assault have been recorded, Scotland Yard said, with a report into child sex crimes by Savile, who died in October last year at the age of 84, due to be published early in the New Year.
The report draws on the testimony of scores of victims and "will provide as clear a picture as possible" of Savile's offending, a force spokesman said.
Savile is now believed to have been one of the UK's most prolific abusers. It is alleged the TV star abused young people on BBC premises, in hospitals, care homes and at Broadmoor psychiatric hospital.
"We are extremely grateful to those victims who have contacted us and commend their bravery. Without them we would have no investigation," a spokesman said.
"To date, in excess of 500 victims have come forward and we have recorded 200 allegations of sexual assault."
Officers are looking at three strands within their inquiry: claims against Savile, those against Savile and others, and those against others, with the report covering the first of those strands. The Yewtree team have also arrested several high-profile figures whose names have come up in the course of the inquiry.
Seven people, including celebrity publicist Max Clifford, have been questioned in connection with Operation Yewtree, which involves a team of 30 officers and has already cost around £2 million.
"The report is based on information provided from scores of victims who have come forward since early October," the police spokesman said.
"Details and data are still being assessed and finalised.
"It is hoped it will be published early in the New Year and will provide as clear a picture as possible on Savile's offending, giving a voice to those who have come forward and helping shape future child protection safeguards."
Mr Clifford protested his innocence after being questioned by detectives last Thursday.
The publicist, who was held at his Surrey home on suspicion of sexual offences and taken to Belgravia police station in central London for questioning, said the allegations were "damaging and totally untrue".
Other high-profile names arrested in connection with the investigation include Gary Glitter, comedian Freddie Starr, DJ Dave Lee Travis and a man in his 70s.
The latest person to be arrested was a man in his 60s from London, who was picked up 6.45am yesterday on suspicion of sexual offences and taken to a south London police station.
He fell under the strand of the investigation termed "others" and was later bailed until a date in January, Scotland Yard said.
