How can they politely Spam The Harlow Star?

PS. I thought Bennett was The Harlow Star.

Bet he's popular with his neighbours - NOT.

He probably gives them lots to talk about?

He might only have broken three of The Undertakings, but they are the most important ones, and he has broken all three of them multitudinous times.
And now he wants The Court to give him permission to go on Libelling The McCanns.
He can't be right in the head.. Does he think Judge Tugendhat is going to say, "That's alright, Mr. Bennett, carry on Libelling with my permission, old boy?"

Perhaps he's hoping that, Sabot? In his dreams then.

If that is their idea of GOOD publicity, then what has to get printed for it to be BAD? He sounds like a raving lunatic stalker, obsessed with the McCann family, with total contempt for the law.

So, it is certainly accurate, but good? The citizens of Harlow will be crossing streets to avoid him - if they aren't already.

Isn't it ironic....the people Bennett obsesses about and stalks, like Gerry McCann, Brian Kennedy, and Ed Smethurst, all came from humble backgrounds - Smethurst in particular. Yet they have all pulled themselves up by their own efforts, and are successful in their fields.

Bennett, in contrast comes from a very solid, middle-class background - but he is a failure at everything he touches, kicked out of every political party he joined, resigned from the solicitors' rolls before he could be struck off, and is now desperate to continue his self-destruction by harrassing the family of a missing child, and anyone who supports them.

Is this all about jealousy, because other people are successful, unlike Bennett, whose life appears to be one long list of failures?

Well he's hardly going to get fame and glory by being good at something, is he. So he has to be infamous.
And if it hadn't been for his relentless persecution of The McCanns none of us would have even heard of him.

What astounds me is the failure of his fan club to grasp that there really is such a thing as bad publicity.

ETA, they were so delighted that he got into the Harlow Star, they seemed incapable of processing the impact the words, and that dreadful photo, would have on the average reader.

It isn't going to make anyone want to find out more about them, it will more likely make normal people recoil in horror.

Not a single Comment has appeared under that article in The Harlow Star. I wonder why. We know they've been sending them in.

That's the trouble with people like Bennett and The Forkers, they never do think it's their fault. This is why it's impossible to get through to them. And why we have Courts.

Then why hasn't he been screaming his head off and threatening to report the Harlow Star to the PCC, the way he usually does?

They really have to face it, Bennett said that ON THE RECORD.

I can't quite work it out, Lily. Bennett obviously thought initially that The McCanns wouldn't or couldn't stop him, although I'm not sure why, unless he placed more importance on Amaral's deductive skills than he should have done, or he didn't understand DNA either.
Possibly, in a distant sort of way, he also deduced that they were guilty by reading all of the false evidence. And then after that, it had all gone too far, so he turned it into a Free Speach issue.

By the time Ed Smethurst clobbered him with colossal costs, which was quite likely a bit of a surprise, it was all too late on The McCann Front because their Costs were rapidly mounting as well. So I suspect that he woke up one morning and realised that there was no way out.
Possibly he has something up his sleeve regarding his mother's estate which could be in Trust, and could maybe buy his house and then rent it back to him. If this is true, then when she dies the whole caboodle would fall back into his hands.
