Re: Riots: Cameron Finally Cuts His Holiday Short
Good article
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/no-shame-no-limits-has-the-behaviour-of-the-mob-destroyed-the-idea-of-british-civility-for-ever-2334863.html
..........
So with the looting on Monday night. This was a multi-racial phenomenon. There were plenty of black rioters and plenty of white rioters, too. But what united them was the abandonment of all restraint and that the cultural norms which had once been so powerful in British society were irrelevant to them, with perhaps the most egregious example of all being the young man who was robbed even while he was injured. People were still stunned yesterday by what had they had witnessed; here's a tweet from anIndependent contributor, picked from many similar ones: "Am still thinking about what I saw last night. It was like watching packs of wild dogs bring down antelopes."
We have plenty of rules and plenty of laws like every other nation, but what has held British society together, given its relative stability and unique values, has been culture. It is clear that there is a growing section of young men and women who have been so socialised that this culture means nothing to them and this will have to be recognised. This is probably not something that policy can deal with; it cannot be ameliorated, it can only be confronted.
It does not mean that we cannot have civil governance, but it will increasingly have to be based on rules which are enforced, rather than on universally accepted norms of behaviour. Those norms were the best thing about British society and long after the burnt-out streets of Hackney and Croydon and Ealing have been rebuilt, their loss will be resonating with us still.

Re: Riots: Cameron Finally Cuts His Holiday Short
Too bloody tolerant, if you ask me, Lily. This all began in the 60s when any ill bred little girl was given a council flat and benefits if she happened to get pregnant. Swell the socialist masses who will all vote Labour, back in the days when they still thought that Communism would work, and The Communist Party were funding The Labour Party of Britain. And mass immigration was another ploy. This is now a proven past strategy.
Personally, I am surprised that it has taken so long to sink to this. I saw it coming thirty years ago. But in those days I was seen as a conspiracy theorist.
I honestly don't know why I am so angry about this. I left Britain when things weren't nearly so bad, and I don't have to tolerate this shit anymore. I sleep easy in my bed these days. But it took me a good few years here before I stopped being afeard.

Re: Riots: Cameron Finally Cuts His Holiday Short
I heard several of the stupid, woolly, talking heads going on about the looters' sense of 'grievances' and their 'entitlement'.
I wish thse half-wits would grasp that that giving them legitimacy is music to a looter's ears; they don't hear, Oh, best stop burning down this pensioner's home, the nice lady is going to look into our grievances.
No, they see it as a green light to do worse.
Cameron disgusted me yesterday. On top of his reluctant return from flaming Tuscany, cameras were banned from one of his trips to the worst-hit areas in case he was filmed being booed, as Clegg was.
At least Boris had the backbone to face the voters and victims, and was eventually cheered by them.
In passing, I have seen way too many posts on the pitchforker sites - especially Hellhole - attempting to justify the looting cos, well, them MPs fiddled their expenses, and then there's them dodgy McCanns, innit? It's your excluded yoof, innit
No, it isn't, it is a shower of bottom-feeding scum who have no respect for other people, the law, the police, anything - not unlike themselves, in fact.

Much too like themselves, in fact. No wonder they have gone a bit quiet. All out looting, probably.
What ever happened to The Work Ethic? No one better than me would like to sit on my backside and do nothing, but I don't have that luxury. Besides, work is good for the soul, or some other shite I never quite fell for. Except the need to be solvent.
You can tell what sort of people these are by watching them attack The McCanns.
Just spite and jealousy for a family that have always worked hard.

Two teenagers to appear in court for 'inciting riots' on Facebook
The arrest of an 18-year-old man in Dundee in connection with an online posting follows the arrest of a 16-year-old in Glasgow.
Two teenagers are due to appear in court in connection with messages posted on Facebook allegedly encouraging people to start rioting.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested yesterday, August 9, following an operation by Strathclyde Police in the south side of Glasgow.
It is alleged the message posted on the social networking site incited others to commit acts of disorder in the area following public unrest in several cities across England.
He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.
Tayside Police confirmed an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with Facebook entries encouraging others to show up in Dundee city centre with weapons to riot.
The force said it had taken "robust and proportionate action" and was following positive lines of inquiry to identify others who may be inciting people to cause public disorder.
The teenager is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court today.
The Strathclyde force said there was no intelligence to suggest there is any trouble planned in the city, and officers will continue to monitor the situation.
Assistant Chief Constable Fiona Taylor, Strathclyde Police Operational Support, said the force would take "decisive action" to prevent anyone inciting violence in the Glasgow area.
She said: "Let there be no mistake, we are ready for any eventuality and will take any action necessary to prevent this kind of abhorrent behaviour."
18 is he? Oh goodie, he will get his name in the papers

Scots police sent to help riot-hit cities in England
The Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland confirmed the deployment in the Midlands and north.
By Mike Farrell
Scottish police officers are being sent to help their colleagues deal with rioting chaos in several English cities.
After the violence and looting in London, Birmingham, Manchester and elsewhere, Scotland's eight forces had been on standby to be deployed in the effort to clampdown on the riots.
On Wednesday morning, the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland confirmed officers would be sent to the midlands and north of England.
A statement from ACPOS read: “Police officers from Scotland are being sent to assist police forces in the Midlands and north of England to deal with continuing public order issues.
“The officers, equipment and vehicles will come from all eight Scottish forces.
“The situation is being constantly monitored between the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland and colleagues in England and any further assistance required will be given careful consideration.”
Welsh police were called in to London on Tuesday night as the police increased their presence in the capital by 10,000 officers after the rioting started in the city on Saturday night.

Personally, I would not take it for granted that the Scots police will make yobbos' Free Speach Yuman Rites a top priority, Tony...
Also, they are used to Scots law, and the wonderful and all-encompassing Breach of the Peace law.
Who would blame them if, in the heat of the moment, they forgot they had crossed the border?

Makes ye feel almost sorry for the wee Sassanachs, does it not? No? Aye well there ye go! I have this picture of hairy Scots polis, kilts (well, metaphorically, that is!) flying in the wind, shouting "Scotland the Brave! We've no forgot the Clearances!" and charging through Berwick!! As the two wannabe FB -ers have both been lifted, very probably from their bedrooms in their mum's house, and it is as usual pouring with rain in Scotland, I think it safe for them to lend our neighbours a hand.
Personally, I would not bother even thinking of looting or rioting with them around; they do their training on Rangers/Celtic brawls.
A bunch of yobs in Primark jackets with hoods is easy meat in comparison...

I heard on TV that 50 members of the EDL have turned up in Eltham, where their leader said they had come to personally organise the locals to deal with the rioters in any manner that seem appropriate. They are muscling in, stoking up the fires .... LL

It's regrettable, but I am not surprised, LL - the legal authorities failed to protect law-abiding citizens; something like this was bound to fill the vacuum.

Reclaiming the streets: Sikhs defend their temple and locals protect their pubs as ordinary Britons defy the rioters
Some armed with swords, some carrying hockey sticks, defiant Sikhs stood guard outside their temples last night.
More then 700 men, some in their 80s, took to the streets to protect the homes, businesses and places of worship in Southall, West London.
The residents rallied together in a show of unity against looters echoed in other parts of the country as ordinary Britons attempted to reclaim the streets.
Resistance: Dozens of Sikhs stage a display of defiance against the rioters outside London's largest temple in Southall yesterday
Funnily enough, the Free Speach Yuman rites looters didn't seem inclined to discuss their grievances with these gentlemen...

Re: Riots: Cameron Finally Cuts His Holiday Short
And the woman who had to jump from the burning building turns out to be Polish:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3743282/The-brave-woman-who-leapt-from-riot-inferno.html
THE woman who leapt from a burning building during Monday night's riots has been named as Monika Konczyk.
The 32-year-old, from Poland, hurled herself from a first floor window above a shop in Croydon, South London, into the arms of desperate riot cops.
A picture emerged last night of brave Monika in her pyjamas and slippers being led to safety by the cops who caught her.
She jumped from the window as the House of Reeves blaze threatened to engulf her home.
Meanwhile, a dad of a teenage looter said he wants his son jailed because it is the only way he will learn his lesson.
The fuming father, who identified himself only as Jason, said his 19-year-old lad raided an electrical store on Monday evening.
He was caught red-handed by police in Croydon.
The dad was horrified when he discovered where his son had been nicked, as he grew up in the area.
He used to shop at House of Reeves furniture store - which was turned into an inferno that evening.
Polish women fleeing fires, members of the Asian community mown down when they were defending their property - yes, this really has shown The Man what tough guys they all are.
