Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
He just is not cut out for the job, I am afraid to say.
It seems that he would rather act to preserve his own credibility than care about the possible consequences of his actions on the US and the world.
In the Fox video, he even told a bunch of lies about the state of the US economy and jobs.

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
"I knew this was going to be a heavy lift," Obama conceded,
Do you know, the last time I heard that phrase was years ago - and it was Leanne De Vette (remember him - the one who pretended he'd been run down by a lorry) using it to describe the horrors of modding a forum.
I wish your military would stage its own coup, Lily, and remove Obama. He's either losing his marbles or he really is some kind of Manchurian Candidate; everything he is doing is AGAINST US interests.
Not to mention wanting to bomb Syrian citizens to show Assad he's really, really angry. How killing more Syrians is going to achieve that, I do not know.
He's off his rocker if he thinks there won't be any retaliation. I saw that disgruntled Iraquis are forgetting they hate Iran to grab a chance to settle old scores - has Obama got any idea just who is in the States? The very same people he's going to bomb Syria to support, and train and arm, will attack the US from within without thinking twice.
Weak men with inflated egos are ten times more dangerous than the Putins, who know how the world works and learn from history.

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
He is inviting all kinds of horrors to be visited in America and elsewhere.
He is all over the place about what he says he will and will not do. No proper direction from the leader at all.
To add insult to injury, this is the guy who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and he may well be the one to start an illegal war.

Both the Russians and Chinese have talked about a Syrian peace conference while they and Obama were at the G20? Why on earth would anyone turn that down?

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
IMO, Kerry and especially Obama have a completely different agenda from what they are claiming, Lily, which is why they are lying through their teeth.
I am still staggered at Kerry's arrogance in announcing that Syria won't dare fight back. Does he seriously think that any sovereign nation on the receiving end of an unprovoked, illegal, military onslaught will just sit and let itself be bombed?
And never mind Syria, all those nice Jihadists the US is so keen to help will almost certainly attack the US from within while its idiot president is attacking Al Quaeda's enemies.
Assuming he can read, Obama would do well to have a look at this in between rounds of golf:
Strategies and motivations haven't changed over the centuries. However, arming and aiding your own enemies is the dumbest idea ever - I don't think ANYONE over millennia has ever done anything so stupid.
And speaking of millennia, Obama might also do well to read the Bible, see how long that region of the world has been at war. A brief glance at the disaster that was the Crusades might also help.

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
This has to be insanity? There are also too many weasel words being spoken. "No boots on the ground in the civil war" would mean no troops on the ground during the lead up to actual war.
Groups are coming to the US to beg for war on their behalf, but at what cost to them? They want war just so long as it is not them doing the fighting and bearing the brunt.

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
If Obama really wanted to make the US and the world safer, the best thing he could do is ask Putin for the locations of the Jihadists and Al Quaeda, and bomb them, actually....
But oh no, on this anniversary of 9/11, the president of the United States is going to be arming and training Jihadists and Al Quaeda, prior to whoring out US armed forces to the Saudis to act as Al Quaeda's air force.
The president of the US is acting against people who wish to worship, or not worship, as they please, against women who want to be regarded as equals and not get acid thrown in their faces for going to school. Omaba needs to be very, very clear about the terrorists he is backing.
The UN is there to deal with any war crimes that may have been committed by Assad, as is the Hague. And they always do, eventually - can't Obama be bothered with any of that boring, legal stuff?

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
Bonny, it seems that he doesn't care due to arrogance or worse? However, if Congress votes no and he disregards them, then he may very well find himself facing impeachment proceedings.
I think this article in the Guardian offered some interesting commentary.

Majority of House leaning ‘no’ on Syria resolution
By Chris Cillizza and Aaron Blake, Published: September 6 at 1:47 pm
A majority of House members are now on the record as either against or leaning against authorizing President Obama to use military force against Syria, according to the latest whip count from the Washington Post.
As of Friday afternoon, there were 223 members in the “no” or “leaning no” category, more than the 217 that would be needed to sink the resolution. (The threshold for passage in the House is 217 votes, rather than the usual 218, since there are currently two vacancies.)

It doesn't seem to have dawned on Obama that people really aren't impressed by 'authentic' videos....from the CIA, of all people.
I'd laugh if it wasn't so serious.

Syria Islamist rebels take control of historic Christian town of Maaloula
Any chance of Obama being concerned about what is happening to Christians at the hands of the cannibals, breadknife-wielders and Jihadists?
Thought not.

Correct, Al-Nusra also slaughtered 2000 people including women and children.

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
I think we have all read that the estimate of the number of ground troops to capture and neutralize the CW facilities is 45,000.
Yesterday I read remarks from a member of Congress that the return of the draft will be needed.
Why? If Kerry is saying that there is so much willingness of other countries to help out would that be necessary? It also shows to me that this is going to be a very long operation if they go ahead.
The US does NOT need another Vietnam.
I read this comment just a few moments ago
How about if we agree to support the Saudis as they attack Syria? They actually have a national interest in what goes on in Syria, we do not.
Quite.

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
Worth remembering Vietnam, like Syria, was a former French territory, Lily...
Kerry, Obama, none of our shower, have answered the most basic question - WHY ARE YOU GOING TO WAR TO SUPPORT JIHADISTS AND AL QUAEDA?
WHY won't they let the UN do their work, and try to find out exactly what did happen, instead of acting like a bunch of vigilantes? They are best-placed to find out who did what, when, why and how, and to bring them to justice.
And why the faux-outrage, anyway? It's not as if the US has never used chemical weapons, or doesn't have its own stock of them. You'll forgive me for not believing videos made by the CIA, of all people. I wouldn't believe the CIA if it told me water was wet.
Why hasn't there been a single word from Obama and co about the sub-human barbarities committed by the 'rebels' aka Al Quaeda? Anyone who thinks they wouldn't kill civilians to enmesh the US in a military disaster is too naive for their own safety, frankly. Why not a word about the proven incidents when the Jihadists have used chemical weapons in Syria?

Re: SYRIA: Nerve Gas Attack
Interesting reading, though it is impossible to tell what is true and what isn't about this situation:
http://www.globalresearch.ca/did-the-white-house-help-plan-the-syrian-chemical-attack/5347542
The conduct of Obama and Cameron certainly gave the impression they were all set to start their war till Milliband's clumsy, but effective, intervention.
ETA, as anyone who reads the links on that piece can see, efforts to hide the hastily-deleted Mail article from January warning that a false flag attack was going to be carried out have failed.
