Good God, the bunch this child was found with were caught with drugs, illegal firearms, the lot - fine upstanding citizens, I don't think! She wouldn't last five minutes in one of these encampments before they had the shirt off her back.

To think that Ben Needham's family also have their longed for hope revitalized is something in itself and may they succeed and find him.

Can't imagine how the poor woman feels today. On the one hand, there is new hope that a grown-up Ben can still be found, but on the other, no-one in authority listened to her years ago.

Citizens around the world are willing to help find their biological parents .

Police and a non-governmental organization Greek received thousands of phone calls from around the world willing to help people looking for biological parents of a girl appeared on Thursday in a gypsy camp in the country .

The organization ' The smile of the child ' , who took temporary custody of the four year old girl appeared in the town of Farsala , reported that only on Saturday after police seek the cooperation of Interpol were received over five thousand calls. However , there is still no concrete clues about the parents .

The organization said that many citizens have expressed interest in the state of the girl, named by the British media as ' Maria ' and to find out more details that might help find the parents .

The girl was found in a gypsy camp on Thursday , in a house where there were several weapons and three children .

A 40 year old man and a woman of 39 , who lived there , did you go through the girl's parents , and was taken to the police , which incurred a series of contradictions , which raised suspicions .

The fact that the girl had Nordic features - blonde hair and green eyes - and the couple's statements led police to order a DNA test to both , which concluded that they were not his biological parents .

In subsequent investigations , it was found that in 1993 , within five months, the man recorded five children and his daughters , and between October 1994 and February 1995 three others. The woman appears as the mother of four other children. All this made the police suspect that it was a network of child trafficking . Both are being held on charges of kidnapping minors and possession of false documentation .

According indicated a spokesman of the police , the girl speaks only a little Romani and its appearance indicates an origin " Bulgarian or some country in northern Europe."

Police said the investigation continues in all directions possible , in cooperation with international organizations dealing with missing children .

The couple will be held on Monday presented to a magistrate and police provides post photos of both , in the hope that someone recognizes them and help to give with their biological parents .

Anyone who has information that could help solve the case should call the European Line for Missing Children ( 116 000 ) , for organizing ' The Smile of the Child ' ( +30 76 09 550 ) or send an email to @ 116000 hamogelo.gr .

CdM has regular horror stories involving gypsies, everything from theft, arms and drugs, to knife fights, via women throwing acid at each other in disputes over husbands.

Portugal doesn't have dishonest gypsies like Portugal doesn't have paedophiles. As in, they do, but certain people try to sweep it under the carpet and pretend there aren't any in Portugal.
