Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
Have been discussing that headline with friends who know very little about the issue. They have been laughing their heads off at that.

Will they be armed with AK47s? Can't have The English escaping across the border.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
It could be a tourist attraction, like that India-Pakistan border. Every night, the English side could dress up like Morris Dancers and charge up to the border looking fierce, and the Scots ones could dress up like Mel Gibson and moon at them.
People would come from all over the world to see that.

Considering how Last Stands invariably end, perhaps not the best choice of headline?

I really don't think anyone's going to be too impressed by their promises of shiny trinkets and beads at this point in the proceedings, Lily, they're 300 years too late.
Also, I am reading that they are breaking election law doing this, as the postal votes are already going in, and they can't change their platform now. They're only showing what a complete panic they are in, and have NO idea what to do next.

That will teach them. Or as some of the forkers, with their wonderful grasp of language might say, that'll learn them.

Panic is spreading like wildfire. And WTF has the queen got to do with it? Can't they tell the difference between the Union of Crowns and the Union of Parliament?

I suspect that flights into Scotland are going to be packed, and we are going to be swarming with media types, as the rest of the world finally notices what's happening here.
I shudder to think what mud is going to be thrown, what fear tactics tried, and what bribes offered by Westminster over the next ten days. I don't think it's going to work this time, too many people can see the emperor has no clothes.

It's bad enough now. It has to get worse but nevertheless I doubt the Scots will fold.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
Jesus. Whatever next. Can anyone in their right mind imagine The Queen saying that? I thought she was Elizabeth the First of Scotland. And I do remember the kerfuffle when England decided, quite wrongly that she was Elizabeth the Second of Scotland. Thank Christ they got that sorted.
And beads and trinkets after 300 years is so insulting.
I simply felt for Scotland, but after the last few days I am horrified by it all. Contempt for the masses. That's what it is.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
I some some London Talking Head rabbiting on about, What will happen with the queen being head of the church?
Eh? Wars have been fought to ensure no mere monarch mortal is head of the Church of Scotland; the Kirk holds that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, and a Moderator elected yearly takes care of the more earthly day-to-day running of things.
They're demonstrating that they haven't a bl**dy clue about how ANYTHING in Scotland works; they just cling on to cliches - that would be deeply racist if aimed at anyone else - involving shortbread, haggis, whisky, kilts and Braveheart. Oh, and Rab. C. Nesbitt.
It's very telling that the only news channels that have been providing accurate, honest reporting during the run-up to the vote have been Al Jazeera and Russia Today - what that says about western media, it's perhaps better not to dwell on.
I am now having visions of CNN and Fox reporters being shoved on the plane to Glasgow dressed like refugees from the old White Heather Club to 'blend in with the locals'.

Rupert Murdoch Verified account
@rupertmurdoch
Salmond's private polls predict 54-46 Yes. Desperate last ten days ahead for both sides. Most powerful media, BBC, totally biased for No.
I will pass on the irony of Rupert Murdoch complaining about bias, though he is right, the BBC has been absolutely appalling.

Better Together in disarray over independence poll
The Better Together campaign has been accused of “spiralling into self-destruction” after UK cabinet ministers appeared at odds over enhanced devolution proposals.
As the referendum campaign entered its last full week, Chancellor George Osborne said “a plan of action to give more powers to Scotland” would be announced soon.
But just hours later Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael said of his coalition partner’s statement: “It’s nothing new.”
The blunder came after a new poll put Yes in the lead for the first time, by a margin of 51% to 49%.
The YouGov poll was described by Better Together insiders as a “boot up the backside” to those who thought the result was a foregone conclusion.
This was echoed by campaign leader Alistair Darling, who said it showed “every voter in Scotland can now tip the balance”.
First Minister Alex Salmond said Mr Osborne’s pledge was a “panicked last-minute measure” designed to “bribe” Scots, adding the pro-UK camp was “spiralling into self-destruction”.
A senior pro-independence insider said: “The proposals are gobbledegook. If they were serious about more powers they wouldn’t rush something out on the back of a poll.”

Incidentally, Her Maj isn't 'Queen of Scotland'. Her correct title is, Elizabeth I, Queen of Scots.

Tessa Jowell describes the yes campaign as an Insurgency on Daily Politics show.
Where do you think they are going with that?
Her remarks are being reported on one or two sites now. Way to go, London.

In two years time we have the next Olympic Games. If they can sort this out, Team GB will be whittled down to England, Wales and N Ireland as Scotland will be the latest new boy on the block. A small replay of the Games when the old Soviet coutries became independant and thus qualified to send a team of their own athletes to participate. LL

It's not just that, LL. Can you see many being keen on England, Wales and Northern Ireland having a permanent seat on the UN security council, when up and coming, larger nations like Brazil and India don't? And I wouldn't expect Northern Ireland and Wales to be hanging around forever.

Re: Scareforce One Makes Day Trip To Aberdeen
Incidentally, I would normally have posted witty slogans, videos tugging at your heartstrings, poems and posters from the Oh Noes!
But the thing is - there aren't any. All they've produced is:
Wails of Woe, woe and thrice woe!
Threats that we won't be able to watch Dr Who if we vote YES.
Threats that we will be invaded by space aliens if we vote YES.
Threats that it would be really, really dangerous for an independent Scotland to NOT bomb Middle East nations indiscriminately - apparently, not being bombed is what causes terrorism.
Threats to build fences and put soldiers on guard across the border. Exactly why isn't clear - possibly to stop starving English people, who seem to think food grows in plastic bags and not fields, escaping.
Predictions that sitting on one of the biggest oil fields in the WORLD will be the ruin of us.
You get the idea. The only bright spots from the Oh Noes! have been their faked-up Tesco receipts with their £10 babywipes.
And their masterwork - Stupid Better Together Wumman.
A few beads and shiny trinkets were brandished before the natives yesterday, but that seems to have been forgotten by the Unionists and now we're being called INSURGENTS.
And it's only Monday.
