The next Scottish polls are being eagerly awaited to see if they will confirm the shift to yes recorded in the YouGov one for the Sunday Times, or if they will show it was just a blip.

However, the Guardian’s Ewen MacAskill has been told there is little relief on the horizon for Alistair Darling and the no campaign: that the next poll to be published on Tuesday will confirm the trend.

How will the markets react to that?

Yup. For over 300 years. Rumours are flying that the next batch of polls confirm that the weekend one wasn't a blip, and the Oh No! vote is collapsing. It's probably worse - or rather better - than that, as these things tend to have a snowball effect, and once undecideds see there's a chance of winning, everyone piles in.

Gordon Brown has said a "No" vote in the Scottish referendum would be the "starting gun" for more powers.

The former prime minister has unveiled his plan for a timetable to give the Scottish Parliament more control over finance, welfare and taxation as part of a new Scotland Act if voters reject independence.

In a speech in Midlothian, Mr Brown said work would begin on the new legislation on September 19, the day after the vote.

He envisions a "command paper" to be published by the UK Government, which will set out the proposals no later than the end of October.

A white paper would be drawn up in November after a consultation, with draft clauses for legislation expected in January.

Yes, of course it would. B*gger off, Brown, no-one believes a word you say.

And odds on a YES win shorten to less than 2/1.

So, the Oh Noes! are in chaos. Why? They've received mega-bucks from assorted Tory backers, had the BBC and most of the media doing their PR for them, and Westminster backing them - and they've still managed to fkc it up.

YES, on the other hand, got a million pound donation from a lottery winner, a big sum from Brian Souter the bus guy - and all the rest of it has been done with donations from the public. No media backing, nothing.

Maybe the Oh Noes! aren't actually fit to run a p*ss up in a brewery, as demonstrated by so many disgraced, useless, political has-beens being in their ranks?

The BBC in Scotland was appalling last night - an HOUR of Gordon Brown waffling pointlessly and issuing empty promises from a miner's club. In total breach of its own charter. The BBC is past its sell-by date, IMO, it's just an outlet for State propaganda.

Labour leader Ed Miliband raised a Saltire over Liverpool and is encouraging other councils to do the same to send the message that England wants Scotland to stay in the union.

We just watched, jaws agape, as the BBC news channel gave Scottish Labour an uninterrupted 50-minute party political broadcast for no immediately obvious reason. It mainly took place at Loanhead Miners’ Welfare, and featured speeches from a warm-up man, then Johann Lamont, and finally Gordon Brown.

The ostensible event justifying this extraordinary coverage lasted just 2m 36s.

I bet you didn't even know there WERE still such beasts as miners' clubs. If you want to see a brain-dead moron in action, it's hard to top Johann Lamont, the Scottish Labour 'leader'.
