Re: Malaysia Airlines plane vanishes over Vietnam
Not it transpires that a member of the cabin crew also had a flight simulator at home.

There seems to be some doubt about the signing off message as it wasn't normal. Was the Co Pilot trying to send a message? This sounds possible to me, even if it was ignored.

Re: Malaysia Airlines plane vanishes over Vietnam
From:
http://news.sky.com/story/1227589/missing-plane-china-satellites-scan-for-mh370
China's foreign ministry spokesman, Hong Lei, announced it had moved 21 of its satellites in positions where they can search for the missing plane.
"China has deployed over 10 professional search vessels that are conducting work at related seas and has asked passing Chinese merchant ships to join in the search," he said.
"We have mobilised many aircraft as well as 21 satellites to participate in the search. We have notified 25 countries and briefed them on the relevant situation and asked them adequate consolation."
I hope passengers who may have survived any kind of landing haven't died while the so-called Great Powers have been being coy about their spy satellites.

I also hope it isn't sitting in a hangar at Diego Garcia. You know, the HUGE base with the HUGE runway that's right on the line of one of those pings the satellite picked up.
If it headed anywhere near that base, then I simply don't believe it wouldn't have been picked up on radar or whatever.
Nothing about any of this makes sense.

No it doesn't Bonny. It makes as much sense as one of the UK's Sunday papers showing of a photo of the plane on the moon.

Lily, I am doubtless totally wrong, but something's well askew with this whole business.
Now the general theory is that the plane was hijacked by terrorists - but nothing's happened. The Petronas Towers were an obvious target, so what else is there? Maybe that damn great US base mid-ocean?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Garcia
Diego Garcia is a tropical, footprint-shaped coral atoll located south of the equator in the central Indian Ocean. It is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT).
The atoll is approximately 1,970 nautical miles (3,650 km) east of the coast of Africa (at Tanzania), 967 nautical miles (1,790 km) south-southwest of the southern tip of India (at Kanyakumari) and 2,550 nautical miles (4,720 km) west-northwest of the west coast of Australia (at Cape Range National Park, Western Australia). Diego Garcia lies in the Chagos Archipelago at the southernmost tip of the Chagos-Laccadive Ridge — a vast submarine range in the Indian Ocean,[2] topped by a long chain of coral reefs, atolls, and islands comprising Lakshadweep, Maldives, and the Chagos Archipelago. Local time is UTC+06:00 year-round (DST is not observed).[3]
The United States Navy operates Naval Support Facility (NSF) Diego Garcia, a large naval ship and submarine support base, military air base, communications and space-tracking facility, and an anchorage for pre-positioned military supplies for regional operations aboard Military Sealift Command ships in the lagoon.[4]

KUALA LUMPUR: The airport runway of Diego Garcia is among the top five locations the investigative team discovered on the simulator programme in Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah’s residence in Shah Alam last Saturday, as reported by Berita Harian.
The newspaper cited a source which said that the investigative team took this discovery as an investigative element in the disappearance of MH370 flown by Zaharie.
“So far from the software, we have investigated Male International Airport in Maldives, an airport owned by the United States (Diego Garcia) and three more landing tracks in India and Sri Lanka, all which have a distance of 1,000 meters of runway.
“Although the Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin has denied allegations that MH370 landed in Diego Garcia, investigations will still continue based on Zaharie’s flight simulator software,” said the source to Berita Harian.

What do we make of this? It looks like a conspiracy theory page.

It is all a bit conspiracy theory, isn't it, Lily? But if anyone was going to notice a straying airliner in their vicinity, one would expect it to be that base.

Re: Malaysia Airlines plane vanishes over Vietnam
Yes, it's definitely odd that a plane carrying people who make planes vanish, may have vanished in the area of an airbase which holds Stealth planes.
This is what comes of people not being told the truth from the outset, EVERYTHING starts to sound possible.

Look now, are you telling me that America could have abducted this plane? Or that somebody defected? Both things have happened before.

Re: Malaysia Airlines plane vanishes over Vietnam
If it was some kind of terrorist attack, it could have been pointed at Diego Garcia and shot down, Sabot.
Or, it's widely rumoured that the US has the technology to remotely take over other planes; if it was presenting a threat, anything could happen.
I don't see defection; why would anyone go to all that trouble to defect from Malaysia?

It isn't The Malaysia that I knew forty years ago. There was no predominance of Allah in those days, or any other religion. It was just a nice place where everyone got on. So heaven knows what has happened.

Re: Malaysia Airlines plane vanishes over Vietnam
http://www.haveeru.com.mv/news/54062
Residents of the remote Maldives island of Kuda Huvadhoo in Dhaal Atoll have reported seeing a "low flying jumbo jet" on the morning of the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
Whilst the disappearance of the Boeing 777 jet, carrying 239 passengers has left the whole world in bewilderment, several residents of Kuda Huvadhoo told Haveeru on Tuesday that they saw a "low flying jumbo jet" at around 6:15am on March 8.
They said that it was a white aircraft, with red stripes across it – which is what the Malaysia Airlines flights typically look like.
Eyewitnesses from the Kuda Huvadhoo concurred that the aeroplane was travelling North to South-East, towards the Southern tip of the Maldives – Addu. They also noted the incredibly loud noise that the flight made when it flew over the island.
"I've never seen a jet flying so low over our island before. We've seen seaplanes, but I'm sure that this was not one of those. I could even make out the doors on the plane clearly," said an eyewitness.
"It's not just me either, several other residents have reported seeing the exact same thing. Some people got out of their houses to see what was causing the tremendous noise too."
Mohamed Zaheem, the Island Councilor of Kuda Huvadhoo, said that the residents of the island had spoken about the incident.
A local aviation expert told Haveeru that it is "likely" for MH370 to have flown over the Maldives. The possibility of any aircraft flying over the island at the reported time is extremely low, the expert added.
The Malaysia airlines jet disappeared on March 8 with 239 people on board after taking off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing. Investigators say it was deliberately diverted off course.
Twenty-six countries are now helping to hunt for the plane after satellite and military radar data projected two huge corridors through which it might have flown.
Satellite data suggests that the last "ping" was recieved from the flight somwhere close to the Maldives and the US naval base on Diego Garcia.
But the Maldives is not amongst the countries that Malaysian authorities had sought help from in its search for the missing jet. Malaysia has listed the countries that it had appealed for assistance: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, China, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and France.
