You can bet the fed won't be charged but maybe some very heavy law suits would not go amiss.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
So, to recap.
Senator Reid did some kind of deal with the Chinese, for which he got paid mega-bucks. The Chinese wanted a particular piece of land, which was occupied by a farmer, Mr Bundy.
In order to get Mr Bundy off the land, Reid got his pals at Land Management to harrass the man, and invent some cock-and-bull story involving turtles as a cover story.
The Feds poured into the area in strength, tasering protesters and shooting a cyclist dead, amongst other things.
Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins has caused outrage by remarking that Utahns planning to travel to Nevada to support Cliven Bundy in his standoff against the feds “better have funeral plans”
That was the prevailing attitude on the government side.
Meanwhile, the Feds were helping themselves to Mr Bundy's livestock by helicopter, and have managed to kill rather a lot of them.
Word got out about all this, so hundreds of citizens' militia men and women descended on the area and faced them down today.
And all this has cost US taxpayers millions of dollars.
Someone needs to be held to account for this - and it isn't Mr Bundy.

About all that's been missing today has been John Wayne - and I have no doubt whose side he would take.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
The harassment started a few years back as a result of Reid's deal with the Chinese. It was for a mega solar panel farm, to be manufactured in China. Of course, they could even be defective as some of them in the past have burst into flames.
The government agency DLM started by demanding money for grazing rights - on land the man's family had owned for 140 years.
It has now escalated because, as part of the deal, the Chinese were promised occupancy of the land this year.
Other than that, you are right.

Oh, so the Chinese were promised the land this year? Reid's got a bit of a problem, then. Especially if they paid him in advance.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
To be honest, although I do know it is a multi-billion dollar deal, I can't say whether or not any has been paid out yet. It may well be on the securing of the site for instance?
It does mean that Reid is on the spot.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
This may also help?
The Bureau of Land Management, whose Director was Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations.
Deleted from BLM.gov but reposted for posterity by the Free Republic, the BLM document entitled “Cattle Trespass Impacts” directly states that Bundy’s cattle “impacts” solar development, more specifically the construction of “utility-scale solar power generation facilities” on “public lands.”

LL, it doesn't have anything to do with it. It has to do with something happening in Nevada USA.

Nevada rancher V US Government
Corruption and misuse of power on an enormous scale by the current incumbent of the White House and his chums, LL.
Obama and co are no friends to the people of America, never mind the Ukraine. If they'll do this to an American rancher, what are they capable of doing to the rest of the world.
I'll split the topics shortly.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
Some news outlets appear to be ignoring it in the hope it will go away, Lily, but that live feed alone had so many viewers, trying to keep it quiet is likely to make matters worse.
The Mail has a good piece:

No doubt Cameron will now get the wind up as so many of his disgruntled, put-upon UK citizens suddenly grasp why the 2nd Amendment isn't such a bad thing after all....
Disgruntled UK citizens know instinctively that this is good:
and this is bad:
Violent: An officer is seen firing a taser at Ammon Bundy as an aggressive police dog goes after him

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
Those are such good photos in the Mail which you were so right about, Bonny.
I wish with all my heart that we had leaders just like the Founding Fathers. The US would rise again and, I believe, inspire others to do what is right and just and good in emulation of those wise men.
I know there were other great leaders in the UK and elsewhere.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
Well, the photos are certainly an improvement on peering at a live link from a handheld camera.....that said, I shudder to think what would have happened without so many people all over the world watching. Doubtless Mr Bundy would have been shot resisting arrest. And if those documents about the Chinese energy deal hadn't been tracked down, this would officially have been a load of bullsh*t about turtles.
I don't see the feds being happy about this, after that humiliating retreat. But the US media need to stop ignoring this and go for Reid and his chums as their corruption is the cause of the whole thing.

What the media should do will probably not be what they actually do, Bonny, where this is concerned.
They will all probably hope for it to fade away just like other very important issues.

Is it not all passing the tipping point now, Lily? There just seems to be so much of it. Washington should be worried, if not scared, IMO - those militia guys weren't going to back down, whatever the feds did.

Bonny, I would love them to. Looking on the Google news page, there were just 3 small articles about this and nothing about Reid's involvement at all.
I think there is a pattern here. There are a lot of people who won't forget though......

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
Isn't it just? I'd love to know what his Chinese chums have said to Reid over the weekend, they won't be very impressed by such a public fiasco.
These things are supposed to be stitched up quietly by hand-picked committees, not exposed for the world to see.
