Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
Here's a thing. Remember when we watched the Shadow of the Tower TV series? The Cornish rebellion? The people had suffered in silence while H7 bled them dry with taxes; when his agents then started confiscating the tools they needed to make a living, it was the last straw and they rose up.
Five hundred years on and arrogant rulers have learned nothing.

Its a very old story, and the consequences are fairly predicable, too. Governments can only push people so far, especially if said people also have firearms.

Bonny, corruption is one of the reasons I get so disgusted with politics. Both sides do it too while thumbing their noses at the people who actually pay for it.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
It's always gone on, but in the past, even though some of the money vanished into pockets, the hospital or school got built.
Now, it seems to vanish into thin air, and it helps the US not one bit.
I was astounded to read about the amount of equipment the US is going to be leaving behind in Afganistan because of the logistics of shipping out due to Obama falling out with the neighbours.
Did he actually forget that all the -Stans are allied to Russia, which had previously been giving a fairly safe land passage to the north, when he emitted hot air over Crimea?
He also tore up all the Russian/US agreements about working together against terrorism and the drug trade in the area. He's just about ensured a bumper supply of heroin in US cities next year.
Corruption is bad enough, but corruption combined with stupidity is terrifying.

Yes, Bonny, most definitely so. Sometimes I think that the seeming level of incompetence in so many people must be an act? I mean look at them and what has happened in a range of issues.

http://thehill.com/blogs/briefing-room/news/201973-obama-colosseum-bigger-than-some-baseball-stadiums
President Obama marveled at the sheer size of the Colosseum during a private sightseeing tour Thursday night in Rome.
"This is bigger than some current baseball stadiums," Obama told reporters, noting the size exceeded Wrigley Field in his hometown of Chicago. "I have to check on what it seats. It's remarkable. Unbelievable."
It's unbelievable all right. And terrifying.

I saw a rather pointed comment in the Mail.
Obama sent more troops to the Bundy ranch than he did to save his own ambassador and other Americans in Benghazi.

However, there was a problem with that plan -- few in Nevada would touch Bundy's cattle for fear of being blacklisted.
"The sale yards are very nervous about taking what in the past has been basically stolen cattle from the federal government," Nevada Agriculture Commissioner Ramona Morrison said.
Documents show the BLM paid a Utah cattle wrangler $966,000 to collect Bundy's cattle and a Utah auctioneer to sell them. However, Utah Gov. Gary Herbert refused to let Bundy cattle cross state lines, saying in a letter: "As Governor of Utah, I urgently request that a herd of cattle seized by the Bureau of Land Management from Mr. Cliven Bundy of Bunkerville, Nevada, not be sent to Utah. There are serious concerns about human safety and animal health and well-being, if these animals are shipped to and sold in Utah."
I get the distinct feeling that Washington is none too popular - except with Harry Reid, of course. Shouldn't he be footing the bill? I'm sure his Chinese chums would loan him it, if he's a bit short.

Most interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if the horrid Reid finds himself under rather close scrutiny now this is going mainstream. And if Obama has any sense - which I frankly doubt - he'll throw Reid under the bus.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
First Solar investors comprise a who’s who of Democratic insiders, including major Obama campaign bundlers, billionaire investor Paul Tudor Jones, Al Gore, Ted Turner and Goldman Sachs. First Solar’s CEO is Michael Ahearn, former fundraiser for both Obama and Harry Reid.
First Solar has at least three other solar projects in California. So it becomes apparent why the BLM, Reid and many other interested parties have such an intense interest in the desert tortoise.
The lucrative business opportunities explain both why Cliven Bundy has been facing such intense intimidation and why all the other ranchers have been chased out. Bundy represents a financial threat not merely to Reid, but a whole gamut of Democrats tied to Obama, Clinton and Gore.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
Omaba's good friend and loyal supporter Reid presses the self-destruct button:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/04/17/sen-reid-calls-supporters-nevada-rancher-bundy-domestic-terrorists/
Sen. Reid calls supporters of Nevada rancher Bundy 'domestic terrorists'
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he believes the supporters who rallied around Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy in his fight against the federal government are “domestic terrorists” and Bundy does not respect his country.
The Las Vegas Journal-Review reported that Reid, D-Nev., made the comments at an event Thursday hosted by the paper called “Hashtags & Headlines.”
Federal land managers backed down in a weekend standoff with Bundy after hundreds of states' rights protesters, including armed militia members, showed up to protest federal officials seizing his cattle. Some protesters had their guns drawn and pointed toward law enforcement, some of whom were also armed. But ultimately, no shots were fired and the Bureau of Land Management reported that officials left over safety concerns.
Reid had harsh words for these supporters, saying the government cannot stop pursuing the issue.
“They’re nothing more than domestic terrorists,” Reid said, according to the paper. “I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism.”
Reid said he has been told a federal task force is being set up to deal with the Bundy situation, adding Bundy does not respect the U.S. or its laws.
“Clive Bundy does not recognize the United States,” Reid said. “The United States, he says, is a foreign government. He doesn’t pay his taxes. He doesn’t pay his fees. And he doesn’t follow the law. He continues to thumb his nose at authority.”
Reid also suggested the supporters were dangerous to the community.
“They had sniper rifles in the freeway. They had weapons, automatic weapons. They had children lined up. They wanted to make sure they got hurt first … What if others tried the same thing?” he said.
Bundy has been at odds for years with the feds, who say he owes more than $1.1 million in unpaid grazing fees. BLM long ago revoked Bundy's grazing rights on that land after citing concern for a federally protected tortoise. Bundy, though, claimed ancestral rights to the land his family settled in the 19th century and has refused to pay the fees or remove his animals.
BLM officials have said they'll continue their fight through the courts.
Sadly for Reid, anyone who watched it unfold saw exactly who the 'domestic terrorists' were - they were the thugs working for Washington, who killed cyclists and cattle alike.
Not surprisingly, this hasn't gone down well. Thanks to Reid, it looks like a good number of previously-disinterested Americans are going to be spending Easter training with their new friends in the militias:
http://www.infowars.com/harry-reid-calls-cliven-bundy-supporters-domestic-terrorists/
And Reid must be too busy selling US land to China to check his FB page, as the outraged 'terrorists' have made a bit of a mess of it...

Some class insults there.
Jose Eduardo Conseco Estevez So I'm a domestic terrorist? You are despicable. Have you ever worked a day in your life, you lying thief?! You enrich yourself and the other scum in your family while acting like a representative of the people. You have no honor, you are filth.
There are thousands of them. That's one of the more polite.
No doubt Reid will now have every single 'terrorist' tracked down via FB and Obama will launch drone strikes on their homes.

During the speech at at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government on Tuesday night, Monaco, who replaced John Brennan last year in overseeing the executive branch’s homeland-security activities, said that parents need to be suspicious of “sudden personality changes in their children at home.”
Orwell set 1984 30 years too early. Or maybe Obama regards the tyrannical government in V for Vendetta as a How-to guide.

God help us. Obama and Kerry are hell-bent on bloodshed, but you don't need to be a genius to work out what the consequence is going to be...
This shift is seen as a test of whether the U.S. can find a trustworthy rebel partner able to keep sophisticated weapons out of the hands of extremists, Saudi and Syrian opposition figures said. The U.S. has long feared that if it does supply advanced arms, the weapons will wind up with radical groups—some tied to al Qaeda—which have set up bases in opposition-held territory.
The White House would neither confirm nor deny it had provided the TOW armor-piercing antitank systems, the first significant supply of sophisticated U.S. weapons systems to rebels. But U.S. officials did say they are working to bolster the rebels' ability to fight the regime.
Rebels and their Saudi backers hope the Obama administration will be persuaded to ease its long-standing resistance to supplying advanced weaponry that could tip the balance in the grinding civil war—especially shoulder-fired missiles capable of bringing down planes.
Some of the TOWs provided to rebels since March are equipped with a complex, fingerprint-keyed security device that controls who can fire it, said Mustafa Alani, a senior security analyst at the Geneva-based Gulf Research Center who is regularly briefed by Saudi officials on security matters.
And how long do these lunatics think it's going to take the Nasty Rebels to capture a Nice Rebel, cut his hand off and start firing at American targets?
Or Christian churches? Or anyone else the cannibals don't approve of?
