Re: The World Cup Thread
No, but the result was a corker and at the time the Hungarians needed a boost as theie original team had been murdered out in the gulags of the Soviet Unio, tho a few did manage to escape to safety abroad. I must admit I watched part of the germany-Brazil match and it was a lesson in skill and speed!! LL.bb1 wrote:Ah, but San Salvador wasn't supposed to be the greatest football team in the world....

I watched the last few minutes, LL. I am not a sports fan, but I saw on the BBC news site that something out of the ordinary was occurring...

Re: The World Cup Thread
Up very late answering emails from jubilant German friends! Well done, Germany, winning as a united country (the last three World Cup wins were as West Germany) and also for being the first European country to win the cup on S American soil.
Way to go, Deutschland, way to go!!!! Lamplighter

Re: The World Cup Thread
I'm very pleased for you, LL .
Germany seems to have been worthy winners, and the final genuinely exciting. I am also glad the World Cup passed off without any disasters and everyone seems to have had a great time, even if they lost.

I'm not even going to ask why they were fighting with each other. Though that's probably good, as it means they didn't take it out on anyone else......
