SNP Ministers slam UK Government plans to allow fracking in Scotland.. despite 99% of people opposing it http://bit.ly/1vjRxa3
As the Record was one of the worst pro-union papers, giving every impression of having its nose up Brown's hindquarters and printing Vows on its front page, it's in no position to moan about the consequences of its own propaganda.

SNP demands: give us a place in 2015 election TV debates
Kate Devlin
UK Political Correspondent
Friday 26 September 2014
The SNP have demanded a place in next year's General Election leaders' debates alongside David Cameron and Ed Miliband.
The nationalists said that the surge in membership in recent days meant it was now the third largest party in the UK, ahead of the Liberal Democrats.
It now has 62,000 members, a doubling of the party's numbers since the No vote in the Scottish independence referendum a week ago.
Seems fair.

Re: Referendum aftermath
I don't see it being allowed, Lily. We were supposed to go back in our boxes after last week and shut up for evermore. However, people are so angry about the lying and cheating that went on, that isn't going to happen. The next two years are going to be very interesting....
On the plus side, Lily, it looks like the fracking's going to start right under the, No thanks, I'm all right Jock, Rule Brittania areas.

If only there was something we could have done to stop Scotland being dragged into more pointless wars...Oh wait. #indyref

Surely the decision to bomb Iraq couldn't possibly have been deliberately held back until after the #indyref vote
Barry D. Carson @Hallam_Foe 3h
@EwanHunter @JRTomlinAuthor Yup. I was being sarcastic. It was planned months ago but held off till after #IndyRef as would've swung vote.
Yup. Some of us predicted this would happen if there was a No vote. And so it comes to pass.

One week, Lily. They had to get the cuts to pensioners' winter fuel, and to child benefit in first. Oh, and the fracking, and the amazing discovery that the North Sea is STILL full of oil. Utterly predictable and utterly sickening.

Crown Office to probe postal vote claims
Martin Williams
Senior News Reporter
Saturday 27 September 2014
THE Crown Office has been called in to examine allegations that pro-Union campaigners breached electoral secrecy law by examining referendum postal ballot papers to gauge how well the Better Together campaign was doing before the polls had closed.
Complaints were passed to Police Scotland and elections watchdog the Electoral Commission. These arose following comments made by Ruth Davidson, the Scottish Conservative leader and prominent supporter of the Better Together campaign.
Ms Davidson said during TV coverage of the referendum, 45 minutes after the ballots closed, that the No camp had been "incredibly encouraged" by the results of a "sample opening" of the postal ballot that she said had taken place around the country over the few weeks prior to the poll closing.
She said agents were able to "take tallies" of postal ballots "and the reports have been very positive for us".
Complaints raised concerns the information may have helped inform the No campaign's decision to issue the "vow" of more powers for Scotland from the three main party leaders.
Now it has been confirmed the Electoral Commission has submitted a report on the allegations to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service for examination in the wake of The Herald story earlier this week.
It is expected that Ms Davidson will be spoken to about her TV statement.
Asked on timescales for the assessment, a source said: "It's like any report to the Crown, it'll take as long as it takes."
Complaints sent to police and the Electoral Commission surrounded agents being able to see the ballot papers and communicate how the vote was going in advance during opening sessions across Scotland in the days running up to September 18.
Elections Scotland guidance on postal votes states it is an offence for anyone attending the opening of postal votes "to attempt to ascertain how any vote has been cast or to communicate any such information obtained".
Failure to observe the secrecy requirement is a criminal offence punishable by up to 12 months in prison and/or to a fine of up to £5,000.
Video footage of Ms Davidson talking about the ballot viewing during televised referendum coverage has been forwarded to both the police and the Electoral Commission.

‘The Betrayers’ – BBC Scotland Drama Series
History teaches us that it was always going to be a Scot who betrayed his country. In the event we got two, Gordon Brown and Alastair Darling.
Only days after the Referendum was lost by a large percentage of Yes voters losing their nerve, switching to No on believing a last-minute, vague promise of more powers for Scotland, we are told there will be a new War in the Middle-East. Scotland has no veto over England’s foreign policy. Endless wars ‘R us.
Sir Ian Wood, a man who made his millions from serving the North Sea oil industry, who can’t get his oil reserve figures to match one day to the next, surprise, surprise, is awarded the fracking contract for Scotland only a few days after the vote went his way. Suddenly there is more oil in the sea and under our feet than was thought a day before the vote. Now he is silent, and happy.

Big rally under way outside the Scottish parliament:
It's deeply shocking that, only a week after the vote, everything the YESes predicted, and the unionists derided as scaremongering, has come to pass. Including another war.

Interesting, isn't it, Lily? There seems to be no end to the dirty tricks and outright corruption throughout the No campaign. All of which is rebounding on them already, and having exactly the opposite effect they expected from their less-than-stunning 'victory'.

Partly that, Lily, and it did work on those that don't use the internet, etc. But - the 'soft Noes', the ones that believed they were making a good choice, and trusted our Imperial Masters, are increasingly horrified at what they did last week, and the way everything YES warned them about is coming to pass. Already.

Good Heavens! The BBC is reporting it...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-29393578
Scottish independence supporters hold Holyrood rally
Thousands of supporters of Scottish independence have been taking part in a rally outside the Scottish parliament.
The rally, organised under the Voice Of The People banner, came just over a week after the independence referendum.
Kate Higgins of the Women For Independence group told the crowd "it's not over".
Meanwhile, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie has warned nationalists not to seek an "ultra-extreme" form of devolution.
Speaking at the Holyrood event, SNP MSP Marco Biagi said: "True power has not been given back to Westminster, it has been lent to them and one day we will take it back."
More at link.
IMO, a good few are going to be worried that we haven't gone back in our boxes, as they expected everyone to.

Re: Referendum aftermath
I don't see any way Westminster can get out of the constitutional tangle it created in a panic, Lily. And Cameron has just been given an even bigger headache in England courtesy of UKIP:
http://news.sky.com/story/1343257/conservative-mp-mark-reckless-defects-to-ukip
The Conservative MP for Rochester and Strood, Mark Reckless, has announced he is defecting to UKIP.
The Tory backbencher made the announcement to rapturous applause from delegates at the UKIP party conference in Doncaster.
He said he would resign his seat in Parliament, triggering a by-election in which he intended to stand for UKIP.

I have no idea what is going to happen, Lily. There's a general election next Spring, and the three main Westminster parties appear to be as detested in England as they are here, by all bar the party faithful.
I can see a huge UKIP vote coming there, with an unpredictable outcome. I suspect the LiibDems are going to be wiped out everywhere, however, as they are universally despised.

Re: Referendum aftermath
Worth keeping an eye on the Catalonia referendum:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-29390774
The president of the Spanish region of Catalonia has signed a decree calling for a referendum on independence.
Artur Mas wants Catalonia to hold a Scottish-style vote on 9 November, but does not have the backing of the central government in Madrid.
Spain quickly denounced the move, calling the plan unconstitutional.
Catalonia, which includes Barcelona, is one of Spain's richest and most highly industrialised regions, and also one of the most independent-minded.
On 19 September Catalonian lawmakers voted by a margin of 106 to 28 in favour of authorising the referendum, known locally as a "consultation".
They have a degree of independence already, but not enough to run their own affairs. The interesting thing about this one is that Madrid is squealing about the vote being illegal, and Catalonia going ahead anyway.
The bonus in that is that they're running it themselves, so Madrid can't pull the same tricks as London did to us.
