A 20-year-old student is among the hostages taken at the Halal shop in Paris.
The young woman, whose name remains unknown, called her uncle who works nearby from the basement of the building where she was being held.
Jean-Marc Sellam, the business partner of her uncle Patrick Tuile told MailOnline that she had called her uncle 'panicked'.

He said: 'The niece of my associate was taken hostage. I think there were five people taken.
'His niece is about 20 years old. She was shopping at the time. She was allowed to speak to her uncle on the phone. She said she was scared and panicked. Police have now let her uncle go to the scene.'
Mr Sellam added: 'I am shocked.
'I have been for 48 hours.
'As long as they keep letting these barbaric people come back from Syria it will keep happening.'
The woman taken hostage is Jewish all other four are believed to also be Jewish.

Update: There were rounds of gunfire and several explosions heard at the printworks where the brothers have been holed up this afternoon. The gunfire came minutes after armed counter-terror officers were seen traveling towards the building.

There appears to be smoke coming from the printworks at Dammartin-en-Goele.

I'm watching the stand-off on Sky, LL, but it's impossible to tell exactly what is happening. I do wonder if the French authorities will decide to make a move before nightfall?

I would hate to hazard a guess, bonny. I would not like to be the commander of the troops and the police - do you charge in and condemn the hostages to death? LL Sad

It's being reported that the 'Charlie' killers are now dead. I suspect the two police assaults were co-ordinated?

One of the worst things about these crazies, IMO, is that the hostages are as good as dead if you DON'T go in, LL. They aren't like criminals, they can't be reasoned or bargained with.

Oh, looks like at least some of the hostages in the supermarket have been freed.

It's being reported that the Kouachi brothers' hostage has been freed, and is safe, and the two scumbags are both dead.

Possibly. I read somewhere that the man in the supermarket siege was demanding the immediate release of the charlie killers. LL

The supermarket siege now seems to be over, too, with the hostages freed, but a couple of police officers injured. It's still all rather confused.

Not good - a second gunman seems to have got clear of the supermarket, and the woman involved cannot be found.

I understood that there was just the man and the woman in the supermarket and that the man was shot dead and the woman vanished. LL

Yes, they did, Pedro, and the police managed to hack into them so they could see what was going on. It's not clear what happened, whether one of the scums started shooting and left the police with no choice but to go in.

We will just have to wait for more information.
