Bassingbourn Libyan cadet report reveals scale of security operation
21 September 2015
From the section Cambridgeshire
Nearly 300 security staff were drafted in to stop Libyan cadets absconding from an army base after five trainees committed sex offences in nearby Cambridge, a report shows.
The Ministry of Defence report said only turning Bassingbourn Barracks into a "fortress" could have bolstered security further.
Trainees arrived in June 2014, but by October five had been charged with rape and other sex offences.
About 230 cadets were later sent home.
The MoD report said at the security operation's height, 296 staff were brought in to control the cadets.
Up to 2,000 soldiers had been due to undergo basic infantry and junior command training at the barracks under an agreement reached at last year's G8 summit to support the Libyan government's efforts to improve the security and stability of the country.
Base lockdown
After several breakdowns in discipline, culminating in five cadets being charged with a series of sexual offences against women and the rape of a man on 26 October, a decision was made to cancel the training and the men were sent home in November

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/sep/22/eu-governments-divisive-quotas-deal-share-120000-refugees
European governments have pushed through by majority vote a divisive deal to share 120,000 refugees after clashing over whether the quotas would be imposed on reluctant countries or left to be accepted on a voluntary basis.
Interior ministers met in Brussels for the second time in a week on Tuesday, aware that failure to agree a system of sharing would carry a very high price in the face of Europe’s biggest ever refugee crisis.
In a highly unusual move because of the lack of consensus, the decision to share 120,000 refugees was put to a vote which the supporters of quotas easily won but which will feed central European resentment of what they perceive as western – and especially German – bullying.
How do I ... offer a room to a refugee?
The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania voted against the decision to impose quotas, but Poland peeled off from its central European allies and voted yes with the majority.
The vote alienated the opponents of quotas on a highly sensitive issue and split Europe into those who decide and those who will now have to accept refugees and migrants against their will.
That is, IMO, utterly unworkable, and amounts to a Germany-backed invasion of those countries. And what on earth makes Merkel and co imagine that the 'migrants' are going to stay in any of the countries that simply do not want them?
This is utter madness.

Slovakia just refused a migrant quota. Now we see what the punishment beating will be.
Ms Merkel can send in the panzers to MAKE them be cuddly and inclusive. She can paint the cuddly, inclusive, tanks, in rainbow colours to show she isn't like the last mad German Chancellor that tried to make the rest of Europe do what it was told by Berlin.

How do you think that lot are going to react when they're told they're not getting to go to Germany to live off the state in comfort, but instead will be send to Eastern Europe, where they aren't wanted, and will get little more than bread and water?

Re: Hungary is new hot spot on migrant route into EU - Part 1
I'm glad the Hungarian Embassy knows that anyone sane is cheering them on, LL, the abuse they were receiving from the bleeding heart squad was appalling.
You know, I am sitting here shaking my head. Merkel created this mess, and now she is using German clout to force countries that don't want these people anywhere near them to accept them - even though the 'migrants' only want to live in cushy berths like Germany.
Why is NO effort being made to sort them out? Why aren't Christians and other minorities, for instance, being given priority? In the midst of these seething mobs of aggressive men, you often see someone who stands out simply because they are behaving, because they are carrying a pet, or keeping their children AWAY from trouble and generally acting like a civilised human being.
You know these people aren't going to decide to decapitate you in IKEA, or blow up trains, and I don't have many problems with them.
But these horrible, cowardly men - who needs them? I've had a gutful of them, their aggression, their contempt for the people that have to, literally, clean up their sh*t, their using women and children as human shields.
Hell mend Merkel for inflicting this on Europe.

German intelligence 'concerned' Islamists recruiting refugees
Berlin (AFP) - German intelligence warned Tuesday that the number of Islamic extremists in the country had increased sharply in recent months and expressed serious concern that they were recruiting among refugees.
The Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Germany's domestic security watchdog, said the number of radical Salafists had surged to 7,900 in September from 7,500 in June, and that many were trying to lure asylum-seekers into their ranks.
"We are very concerned that Islamists in Germany are trying, under the cover of humanitarian assistance, to exploit the situation of the refugees for their own ends and to proselytise and recruit among asylum-seekers," BfV president Hans-Georg Maassen said in a statement...more at link.
What a surprise! Whoever would have seen that coming!

Refugee kicked by Hungarian camerawoman was member of terror group, Kurdish party claims
A Syrian man who was tripped over by Hungarian camerawoman in a video that went viral has been claimed to be an alleged member of a militant Islamist group that had committed crimes against civilians in his homeland.
Osama Abdul Mohsen was accused of being a member of the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Nusra Front by the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) in a statement released on Friday.
“Osama Abdul joined the rebel groups in 2011 and committed crimes against civilian minorities, including Kurds,” the statement says.
It adds that “testimonies… of many Kurds alongside with images obtained [from Mohsen’s Facebook page]” provide evidence of his involvement in the Al-Nusra Front’s activities.
The PYD also claims that Osama Abdul Mohsen was living in the Syrian town of Tel Abyad and decided to flee ahead of Kurdish forces seizing the city last July “in fear” that his involvement with the militant group would be revealed.
Mohsen got widespread support and sympathy after a video with him went viral causing a wave of public indignation in many countries all over the world. In this video, Osama Abdul Mohsen was filmed being tripped over by a Hungarian camerawoman as he tried to run across the Hungarian border with his 8-year-old son in his hands....more at link.
There was no faux 'indignation' from me, as we didn't know the backstory - look at the way the death of that poor little boy was manipulated for political ends!
But it made the moonbats feel Sad, and gave them an excuse to virtue signal, so they probably won't care that the tripped one is seemingly a terrorist on the run from justice.
Just think, if it hadn't been for moonbat tears, he might have been detained in Hungary.
Let's hope it's not too late.

THE Syrian refugee kicked by a Hungarian journalist has landed himself a job in Spain.
Former football manager of Syrian first division side Al-Fotuwa, Osama Abdul Mohsen, will team up with CENAFE coaches’ training school in Madrid.
Mohsen hit the world’s headlines after Hungarian journalist Petra Laszlo tripped him as he ran across the Hungary-Serbia border with his son Zaid in his arms.
She was subsequently fired from the television channel she worked for.
“We are a national coaching school so we decided to help a fellow coach,” the school’s director Miguel Angel Galan said.
A member of the football school has travelled to Germany to bring Mohsen, his two sons and wife back to Spain.
