They wanted the investigation when they were convinced the Yard was reading all the garbage, sorry, 'dossiers' they were sending. They wanted the investigation when they were convinced that after one reading of their garbage, the Yard would arrest the McCanns for.....something, I don't know what.

Now, because the investigation isn't going the way they imagine it should, it is a Bad Investigation, and they want it stopped.
