Re: Re-interment of King Richard III
It was very, very moving, Lily, which I didn't expect. It tapped into something, I can't really explain it.
The service is over now, and the interviewer is talking to the crowds. People have come from all over the world - a couple of guys from Brazil felt they just had to be there.
She talked to a couple of local Sikhs earlier, who identified with Richard's courage in battle, and his legal reforms, efforts to help the poor, etc. I can't explain it, there's just something about him that seems to touch people.

I've just muted Starkey, he's doing his usual spiel. His nose is well out of joint, which is always good.

Just ignore the whines from the Yorkie trolls, they're as bad as the Gonzo fan club.

I've got two comments on The Mail article. Mind you, it is unmoderated.

Re: Re-interment of King Richard III
Well done, Sabot. I've come to the conclusion that the Yorkies didn't actually give a flying one about Richard, they're just a bunch of rather nasty snobs.

That gives a fair idea of the crowds. Sources say ghostly shrieks of rage are coming from somewhere in Westminster Abbey....

That's a stunning photo from the Mail. The thought of Starkey having to sit and watch all this fills me with delight.

Re: Re-interment of King Richard III
Another wonderful image.
I was just trying to remember how the populace reacted to dead Tudors....
H7 - Praise the Lord! The horrible old miser's dead!
H8 - Praise the Lord! The bloodthirsty tyrant's dead! Oh look, his coffin's burst, and a mangy cur is licking his blood, just like that prophecy....
E6 - That one didn't last long, can we stop praying now?
Bloody Mary: Praise the Lord, the mad Papist's dead, before she incinerated everyone.
Gloriana: She finally gone, has she? Did alright against them Spanish, though.

Re: Re-interment of King Richard III
Yes, it was, Sabot. Try someone who isn't much into history about the Tudors, and you get, H8 and the wives and the headchopping, Bloody Mary and the heretic incineration, and Gloriana and the Armada.
Oh, and the odd one remembers that H8 wrecked the-then church in a manner worthy of ISIS so he could legally get his leg over with Anne Boleyn. Most people don't remember H7 or E6.
It makes great soap opera TV, but it must have been Hell to live under.
