Well done that guy.
That is how to stimulate the economy and help it to move forward.
My goodness. That poor family being treated that way over some out of date food. The whole system needs to be revamped to help the genuinely needy.
That story is repugnant to read.
Just seen your latest post Bonny. Oh very dear.......
Of course that Murphy guy is hanging on. He can't face the consequences or something.......

Exactly, Lily, and it doesn't even take a great deal of money to help people up, instead of kicking them when they're down. I honestly don't think much of Middle England that voted Tory is aware of just how precarious the UK economy is, and that many of them are only one financial Black Swan away from dumpster-diving themselves.

It probably takes a lot less money than having to pay out all those benefits to so many people.
It's not rocket science either.

It used to be called 'investment', Lily, before all the normal rules, that have worked for centuries, were stood on their heads.

That was for the Black Swan post Bonny.
I completely agree that what was normal for a thriving country with a booming middle class is now just a mere skeleton.
Let's face it the extremely wealthy people don't want a huge middle class to stop them from feeling so very very special.
The Feudal system suits them so much better.

Ukip's campaign chief today tears into 'snarling' Nigel Farage, accusing his leader of turning the party into a 'personality cult'.
In an extraordinary intervention Ukip MEP Patrick O'Flynn described Mr Farage as 'snarling, thin-skinned [and] aggressive'.
Mr O'Flynn also claims Mr Farage's self-styled 'people's army' has been turned into an 'absolute monarchy'.

Gawd, it's a laugh a minute with UKIP. Frankly, I suspect their problem is that it WASN'T an 'absolute monarchy' - a bit more party discipline and they wouldn't have had candidates threatening to shoot their rivals, etc....
And believing their own hype and throwing their time and resources away in places like Falkirk - indeed, Scotland as a whole.

Re: POLLING DAY AS IT HAPPENS: TELEGRAPH TV LINK
Meanwhile, the Tories are up to something:
http://news.sky.com/story/1483611/radical-city-devolution-plans-to-be-unveiled
George Osborne is to unveil plans to give English cities an opportunity to elect their own mayor, who would receive greater powers over housing, policing and transport in their areas.
The Chancellor will make his first speech since the General Election in Greater Manchester – the first region to undergo devolution once a mayor is elected in two years' time.
Mr Osborne now wants other major cities to come forward "and take this bold step into the future", but has stressed the policy will not be imposed on areas which do not want greater controls.
He will say: "The old model of trying to run everything in our country from the centre of London is broken - it's led to an unbalanced economy.
"It's made people feel remote from the decisions that affect their lives. It's not good for our prosperity, or our democracy.
"We will deliver the devolution to Scotland and Wales we promised. But today, I can tell you we will go much further - and deliver radical devolution to the great cities of England." .....more at link
Now, normally I would say, Excellent!
But it's the Tories, therefore they are up to something which is going to benefit no-one except their banker chums.

Re: POLLING DAY AS IT HAPPENS: TELEGRAPH TV LINK
And fun and frolics inside UK Labour HQ during the election:
http://www.spectator.co.uk/features/9528312/inside-the-milibunker-the-last-days-of-ed-did-ed-miliband-sacrifice-ed-balls/
Another Labour insider told of the scene in the press office when Miliband posed with the notorious Ed stone, the 8ft 6in slab of limestone upon which his six key election pledges were inscribed. When it appeared on TV, a press officer ‘started screaming. He stood in the office, just screaming over and over again at the screen. It was so bad they thought he was having a breakdown.’
And who could blame him?

Re: POLLING DAY AS IT HAPPENS: TELEGRAPH TV LINK
I find this quite perplexing. Ideals and reality are two different things when it comes to matters of the world.
Ed Miliband was an idealist until the end. He surrounded himself with academics, took inspiration from political textbooks and had an extraordinary ability to detach himself from the hue and cry of daily politics. He created his own world and lived in it. This explains his preternatural calm and his astonishing self-belief — but it also explains why he drove his party over a cliff

Don't forget the millionaire Marxist father, Lily - neither status was likely to help Ed understand the lives of the little people....

Re: POLLING DAY AS IT HAPPENS: TELEGRAPH TV LINK
The stupidest thing the Labour party ever did was reinvent itself as 'New' Labour, IMO. Fair enough, heavy industry and militant trade unions are pretty much a thing of the past, but what the US calls 'blue collar' workers aren't.
'New' Labour has been pitching itself at the chattering classes, all those media luvvies that think sticking a Labour poster in their windows shows the peasants that they Care.
It says it all that current favourite for next Labour leader is Chuka:
who irritates EVERYONE bar those that sit in coffee shops playing with ipads. He is the most irritating, poncey, dilettante creature the Labour party's produced since Mandelson. But hey, he goes to good art galleries!
I can see northern England being lost to UKIP, if UKIP ever pull themselves together - they got a lot of healthy seconds north of the M25 corridor.

Thousands back campaign for the north of England to join Scotland
Martin Williams
Senior News Reporter
Thursday 14 May 2015
MORE than 17,000 are supporting a campaign that calls for the north of England to join Scotland.
Protesters aim to lobby Westminster over the move saying that northern English "feel far greater affinity with their Scottish counterparts such as Glasgow and Edinburgh than with the ideologies of the London-centric south".
Signatures to the petition demands secession from the UK.
It suggests the boundaries of Britain be realigned so that the border runs between the River Dee and the mouth of The Humber.
It would mean that cities such as Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester would be part of Scotland.
The campaigners who have launched the move online with the slogan #TakeUsWithYouScotland says: "The deliberations in Westminster are becoming increasingly irrelevant to the north of England.
"The needs and challenges of the north cannot be understood by the endless parade of old Etonians lining the front benches of the House of Commons. The north of England should join the newly independent Scotland and regain control over its own destiny."
The petition first drawn up during the Scottish independence referendum has gained a new lease of life since the General Election with 5000 signing up in the past four days.
George Osborne, the chancellor of the exchequer is the only constituency MP from the north of England who has a seat in the new cabinet.

Workfare, Forced Labour and the new ‘Business and Community Wardens’.
If Cameron gets away with shredding the Human Rights Act, then there will be no comeback against this semi-slavery.
He'll make out its all about stopping Mad Mullahs from preaching hate, to loud Huzzahs! from Mail readers, when the devil is, as ever, in the detail, which no-one ever bothers to read until it's too late.

Oh, Chukka's dropped out:
http://news.sky.com/story/1484585/chuka-umunna-drops-labour-leadership-bid
"One can imagine what running for leader can be like, understand its demands and the attention but nothing compares to actually doing it and the impact on the rest of one's life.
"Consequently after further reflection I am withdrawing my candidacy."
Bless! Still, at least he's admitted he's a lightweight. Unfortunately, I doubt if the general public have heard of any of the other candidates - I certainly haven't.
