Would it be cynical - or wayciss - to suspect that the reason this elderly lady is being threatened with deportation is that her skin and her religion are both unacceptable to the bien pensants?

It seems she is being deported because her family made a honest mistake in her application for residency. LL
Full story at link.Mrs Cothill was brought here by her British family last year on a six-month visitor visa. But her health rapidly deteriorated so they decided to apply for her to stay permanently.
Immigration rules make it clear visas cannot be swapped while the person is in the country they are visiting. The Home Office said if she wanted to remain she should have applied while she was in her native Natal in South Africa.
They now want to put her on a plane and flown 8,000 miles so she can tick the boxes required for residency. But her health is so bad doubts remain whether she would survive the 12-hour flight.

They wouldn't have cared about the box-ticking if she'd been anything other than a White South African, LL, given the ridiculous excuses from criminals that have been accepted by the Home Office as reasons to stay.

http://news.sky.com/story/1579839/ruling-akp-heads-for-majority-in-turkey-election
Early results in Turkey's election show the AKP just below 50%, in a major turnaround for embattled President Tayyip Erdogan.
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has declared victory, saying: "Today is the day of victory of democracy and the people."
According to state-run broadcaster TRT, more than 97% of the votes have been counted, showing the main opposition CHP at 25.2% and the nationalist MHP opposition on 12%.
Support for the pro-Kurdish HDP is hovering just over the 10% threshold needed to enter parliament - a threshold it cleared in June's election.
Clashes broke out in Diyarbakir, a mainly Kurdish city in Turkey's southeast, with people setting fire to rubbish bins and throwing stones at police, following news of the partial results. Police used water cannon.
Election turnout was around 87% among the 54m voters eligible to vote at more than 175,000 polling stations and results could still change significantly as voting papers arrive from more rural parts of the country.
The AKP lost its majority in a June election after 13 years and Mr Erdogan called a second vote after Mr Davutoglu failed to form a coalition with any of the three opposition parties.
Mr Erdogan presented this month's election as a chance to restore stability amid growing tensions with Kurdish fighters and the worsening war in neighbouring Syria leaving Turkey with more refugees from there than anywhere else in the world.
Turkey has also been the target of two Islamic State-linked suicide bomb attacks that killed more than 130 people.
"It is obvious in today's election how beneficial stability is for our nation and today our citizens will make their choice based on this," Mr Erdogan said after voting in his home district of Camlica, which is on the Asian side of Istanbul.
Critics say the election was called in a bid by Mr Erdogan to win back enough support so his party can change the constitution and he can have more power. Some western allies hoped a coalition may have kept these instincts in check.

Re: Hungary is new hot spot on migrant route into EU - Part 2
A German village of just 102 residents is bracing for the arrival of 500 refugees as neo-Nazi violence against migrants intensifies in the country.
The sleepy town of Sumte, inhabited mainly by well-to-do pensioners who live in handsome farmhouses, has become the symbol of Germany's struggle to cope with the overwhelming influx of migrants.
In early October, Sumte's mayor, Christian Fabel, was informed by the district government that his village, which has a neo-Nazi as a town councillor, had to accommodate 1,000 refugees in empty office buildings.

Hard to think of anything better designed to turn Germans into 'neo-nazis' than outnumbering them ten to one with an alien, totalitarian culture. The bien pensants are going to have to stop calling people 'neo nazis' before that supposed insult turns into a joke, as 'racist' and 'islamophobic' already have.

Orbán: Europe must be protected from “left-wing conspiracy”
By Hungary Matters
Europe is being betrayed, and unless it is protected “it will be taken away from us”, the prime minister said. Addressing a conference of Christian intellectuals in Budapest, Orbán said Europe was in danger of being “taken over” and in the future may “fulfil the dreams of a few big-money-moving activist leaders whom nobody has voted for and who think beyond nation states … If you’re thinking of the Soros Foundation, that wouldn’t be unreasonable.”
Orbán said the reaction in Europe to the current migrant crisis was not “down to incompetence” but a conscious desire to implement a “leftist intellectual construction” in order to put nation states in Europe in parentheses. “This conspiracy, this betrayal is what we are faced with, and we must turn to democracy, to the people, to fight it,” Orbán said. A discussion must be started in Europe with the aim of coming out of it better off—as a strong and Christian Europe, he added. On the subject of Austria’s efforts to protect its border, the prime minister quoted the Austrian leader as saying that “we are not building a fence but a gate that has long wings.”

Opposition parties slam Orbán’s “conspiracy theory” speech
By Hungary Matters
Far-right Jobbik responded to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s speech to Christian intellectuals by saying that Orbán “has no credibility” in his assertion that he would turn to the people in connection with the migrant crisis. “If Orbán were indeed serious about protecting a Europe of nation states, he would make every effort to advocate a European referendum instead of a European debate on this issue,” the party said. “But Fidesz has disabled this direct democratic institution in Hungary,” Jobbik said.
The Együtt party said Orbán had not only put forward “a nonsense conspiracy theory” but even “told a lie” because the policy steps he has taken have not resolved the migrant crisis. “Orbán has not solved anything at all; rather, he has merely transferred the burden and responsibility of resolving the common problem onto others via his inhumane and coward policies.” Együtt added that the Hungarian government should abide by Brussels’ quota system and design a new migration policy to ease Hungary’s labour force problems caused by the approaching “demographic crisis”.

Soros said in an e-mailed statement that a six-point plan published by his foundation helps “uphold European values” while Orban’s actions “undermine those values.”
“His plan treats the protection of national borders as the objective and the refugees as an obstacle,” he said in the statement. “Our plan treats the protection of refugees as the objective and national borders as the obstacle.”
Piece of merde.

At present most Hungarians would probably listen to Orbán any time as he embodies what many feel whereas Soros, with all his money, is less than acceptable, especialy considering how many Hungarians are just managing to keep their heads above water where money is concerned. LL

Any sane, responsible person would rather listen to Orban, LL. It's never Soros and his ilk that have their lives wrecked by mass immigration, it's always the poor or working class indigenous population. Soros' dirty money quarantines him from the consequences of his own meddling, just as their money quarantines that idiot Cumberbatch and the other lefty luvvies that want to hug a jihadist.

Soros is doing this for fun and because he has a God complex. I swear he is.
No. He and his ilk will never feel any of the injustice dumped on them by these illegal acts. As for Cumberbatch, I don't know what to say except at best, to call him an idiot.

Another thing, Lily - the weather in Europe is going downhill rapidly, but there are still thousands of people wandering around, heading generally for Germany.
It's almost inevitable that there will be casualties - for which I blame Merkel, and all the other idiots that have encouraged this insanity. The human traffickers and others would have been out of business months ago if it had been made crystal-clear that no, the 'migrants' weren't welcome, and the safest place is in the organised camps.
Instead, this has been encouraged, like some kind of grotesque Children's Crusade in reverse. The politicians and moonbats responsible have blood on their hands, IMO, as it was all predicable to any sane person.

http://www.ekathimerini.com/203083/article/ekathimerini/news/merkel-warns-of-balkans-fighting-amid-migrant-influx
German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that fighting could break out in the Balkans, along the main route of migrants trying to reach Europe, if Germany closed its border with Austria, in remarks published Tuesday.
Amid ever-louder calls for Merkel to undertake drastic action to stem the tide of people entering her country, she again rejected the appeals, noting that tensions were already running high between the Western Balkans countries.
With an eye to deep rifts exposed after Hungary closed its frontier with Serbia and Croatia, Merkel said blocking the border with Austria to refugees and migrants would be reckless.
“It will lead to a backlash,” Merkel was quoted in media reports as saying late Monday in an address to members of her conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in the western city of Darmstadt.
“I do not want military conflicts to become necessary there again,” Merkel added, referring to the Balkans.
She said disputes in a region already ravaged by war in the 1990s could quickly escalate, touching off a cycle of violence “no one wants.”.....etc.
That will be the third time in a century Germany has brought war to Europe, then. Maybe it wasn't so clever to take down that wall after all?

Re: Hungary is new hot spot on migrant route into EU - Part 2
A German official has said that Angela Merkel's open door migrant policy will lead to 'civil war' after thousands marched through one city's streets holding crucifixes during an anti-Islam protest.
Hansjoerg Mueller, of the Alternative for Germany party, said the country was 'sliding towards anarchy' and risks becoming a 'banana republic without any government'.
He made the claims after about 8,000 people joined the anti-Islam Pegida movement for a rally in Dresden over Angela Merkel's decision to allow up to one million migrants into the country this year.
Some demonstrators held crucifixes and upside-down German flags while others shouted 'Merkel out!' alongside doctored images of the German Chancellor in a burqa and a Nazi outfit.
The group's leaders, who have been described by German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere as 'hard right-wing extremists', are demanding an immediate end to the policy

I swear Merkel is channelling her moustached predecessor - although even he took a bit more than a year to destroy Germany.
This time last year, it would have been unthinkable for people to talk about 'civil unrest' and 'banana republics' and mean Germany.
