There are plenty of young men and women there, doubtless all fighting for their country in one way or another. And guess what, it's perfectly normal - shops, swimming pools, women going to university instead of going round like walking bin bags.

It raises questions about the motives of the bunch that have 'fled' into Europe, frankly. And I am sick of the sight of women in headbags. Those are NOT 'traditional'. What was genuinely traditional was for women working in hot, dusty countries to cover their hair to keep it clean.

Those became a political statement about fifty or sixty years ago, and there is nothing 'liberating' about them.

You are correct, Bonny. They would also keep sand from slamming into their faces when in the middle of a sand storm.

Orban calls refugees 'poison' after Kern meeting

Hungary's right-wing Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Tuesday described the arrival of asylum seekers in Europe as "a poison", saying his country did not want or need "a single migrant"

"Hungary does not need a single migrant for the economy to work, or the population to sustain itself, or for the country to have a future," he told a joint press conference in Budapest with Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern.

"This is why there is no need for a common European migration policy: whoever needs migrants can take them, but don't force them on us, we don't need them," Orban said.

The populist strongman added that "every single migrant poses a public security and terror risk".

"For us migration is not a solution but a problem... not medicine but a poison, we don't need it and won't swallow it," he said.

Orban is a fierce opponent of the European Union's troubled plan to share migrants across the 28-nation bloc under a mandatory quota system.

Hungary has filed a legal challenge against the proposal and will hold a referendum on its participation in the scheme on October 2.

Hundreds of thousands of migrants and refugees trekked through Hungary and Austria in 2015 as they sought to reach wealthy European nations.

But the flow slowed to a trickle after Orban's government erected razor wire and fences along the southern borders last autumn and brought in tough anti-migrant laws.

However, numbers have been rising again in recent months, reaching almost 18,000 so far this year.

In response Budapest introduced further security measures this month, including the controversial forced return to no-man's land between Hungary and Serbia of any migrant found within eight kilometres (five miles) of the southern border.

'We have to assist'

In early July, Austria promised to send 20 police officers to the Serbian frontier, where around 20 asylum seekers a day are allowed to cross into a border "transit zone" and apply for asylum.

The offer marked a turnaround for Vienna, previously a vocal critic of Hungary's hardline treatment of migrants.

Kern, on his first visit to Hungary since becoming chancellor in May, said migration to Austria and Germany had declined thanks to Hungary's tough measures.

"If we are beneficiaries from this process, then we have to assist it," he said.

But Kern also stressed that nongovernmental aid agencies should be allowed to help people stranded on the Serbian side of the border.

Around 1,400 people are waiting in squalid makeshift camps at the border, according to the UNHCR.

Kern and Orban also discussed the return of migrants from Austria to Hungary, which has been a recent source of tension between the two countries.

After their meeting, Orban said his government was willing to take back from Austria asylum seekers registered as having entered the EU in Hungary.

This affects primarily Balkan migrants, which only make up a small number of those Vienna wants to send back.

Can't say I greatly disagree with Orban. I am just glad that Cameron didn't give in to the weeping, wailing and virtue-signalling and let hordes of them in last year.

Chancellor Angel Merkel has said refugees who carry out attacks in Germany mocked the country that took them in.

But she said there would be no reversal in the policy of accepting migrants.

Mrs Merkel pledged at a news conference that she would do everything she could to deal with the "barbaric acts", find out who was behind them and bring them to justice.

She said that Germany owed that not just to victims, relatives and other Germans, but also to other refugees.

Germany would do "everything humanly possible" to ensure security, she said, although there would have to be a "thorough analysis" before specific new measures are drawn up.

But Mrs Merkel also insisted Germany would stick to its "principles" and give shelter to those who deserved it.

She argued the extremists wanted to reduce the country's readiness to take in refugees.

"The terrorists want to make us lose sight of what is important to us, break down our cohesion and sense of community as well as inhibiting our way of life, our openness and our willingness to take in people who are in need," she said.....etc.

Well done, Merkel, just keeping holding that door open! Frankly, I don't blame the islamists for 'mocking' you and Germany - you're a sick joke.

Dialogue for Hungary to report gov’t’s quota referendum campaign for incitement

The Dialogue for Hungary (PM) party will file a complaint for incitement against a group over the government’s billboard campaign for the referendum on migrant quotas. For the past year and a half the government has been running a hate campaign against refugees with the aim of diverting attention from its corruption scandals and the state of the health-care and education systems, spokesperson Bence Tordai told MTI. PM’s lawyers believe the billboard campaign constitutes the crime of incitement against a group because it links asylum seekers with terrorism, rape and other crimes. The government wants to instil fear into Hungarians that Europe is being flooded by millions of refugees and that many of them could be relocated to Hungary, he said.

PM is filing its complaint against an unidentified perpetrator because it is unclear how big of a role Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, propaganda minister Antal Rogán, or anyone else has in the campaign, he said. The incitement against the refugees could easily descend into violence, Tordai said, stating that if a refugee eventually becomes the victim of a hate crime in Hungary, the government would have to be held responsible for it. Tordai said PM will organise an anti-violence demonstration at Budapest’s Kossuth Square on October 2, the day of the quota referendum and international day of non-violence.

Meanwhile, Boris Palmer, the "progressive" mayor of Tübingen, thinks he has found a solution to the problem of migrants who are raping German women and children in public swimming pools. He wants migrants to become swimming pool superintendents. In a Facebook post, Palmer wrote: "Our municipality has embraced a great prevention and integration measure. We have a Syrian lifeguard who can make known in Arabic and with authority what behavior is allowed and what is not."

Palmer's first hire is a 24-year-old Syrian named Aiham Shalghin. In an interview with Schwäbisches Tagblatt, Shalghin portrayed migrants as the victims of their circumstances: "Many male refugees have never before swum with women. In Syria, most public swimming pools are separated by gender. Men do not want to see women in swimming attire.

The solution to his problem is in his own hands, then - he can take himself back to Syria. Oh wait - the government-run areas don't discriminate against women, or make them go round like walking bin bags.

So, no prizes for guessing where his real sympathies lie.
