One person has been killed and another injured in a subway explosion in the Bayrampasa district of Istanbul, local HaberTürk TV reports.
Social media users have posted various photos of people evacuating the subway station, while local media said that trains have been stopped at one of the stations

Russian President Vladimir Putin lashed out at “part of the leadership in Turkey" during his annual address to the parliament, accusing Ankara of having trade ties with terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq. He also promised more sanctions for Turkey over downing of the Russian jet.

Iraq has told Turkey to “immediately” withdraw forces, including tanks and artillery, it has deployed in the country’s north without Baghdad’s consent, the office of the prime minister, Haider al-Abadi, said on Saturday.

“The Iraqi authorities call on Turkey to ... immediately withdraw from Iraqi territory,” the statement said.

“We have confirmation that Turkish forces, numbering about one armoured regiment with a number of tanks and artillery, entered Iraqi territory ... allegedly to train Iraqi groups, without a request or authorisation from Iraqi federal authorities,” it said.

The deployment “is considered a serious violation of Iraqi sovereignty”, it added.

Turkish media reported that about 150 Turkish soldiers backed by 20 to 25 tanks had been sent by road to the Bashiqa area north-east of Mosul, the city that is Islamic State’s main hub in Iraq.

Peshmerga forces from Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region are deployed in the area, and Turkey’s Anatolia news agency said the troops were there to train them.

Isis overran swaths of territory north and west of Baghdad in 2014, and Iraqi forces backed by US-led airstrikes are battling to push back the jihadis.

The peshmerga are one of the most effective Iraqi forces in the fight against Isis, but coordination between them and the federal government in Baghdad has generally been poor.

So, why would Turkey be helping Kurds fight against ISIS, source of their illegal oil? Oh - it's Turkey = dodgy.

A Russian warship has been forced to fire warning shots at a Turkish vessel to avoid a collision, officials have claimed.

The Defence Ministry in Moscow has alleged that the unnamed Turkish ship failed to respond to warnings issued by the Smetlivy navy destroyer in the Aegean Sea.

According to the Interfax news agency, the vessel sharply changed course after the warning shots were fired - and ended up passing within 500 metres of the Russian warship.

Ankara's military attache has been summoned over the incident, which unfolded 14 miles (22km) away from the Greek island of Lemnos.

It follows a diplomatic stand-off between the two countries, with Vladimir Putin claiming Turkey shot down a Russian warplane to protect oil supplies arriving from Islamic State territory.

The Russian President has described that incident as a "huge mistake", with the Kremlin banning imports and advising tourists to avoid travelling to Turkey on holiday.
