Re: Twitter pledges to clamp down on trolls
I wonder how he felt as they crowned one of his generals King of Sweden while he was demoted back to the Corsican upstart. LL

I suppose you can't blame the real royals for thinking Napoleon was just a bit uppity:
Crowning yourself never really impresses people.
Sound chaps, the Prussians. Good sorts.
Well, until that unfortunate business over young Ferdinand, and then that frightful Austrian upstart. Still, all forgiven and forgotten. Mostly.

The toothbrush moustached one? He was born in Branau-am-Inn, Austria, which is close to Bavaria, where his father was a customs officer. He gave up his Austrian nationality in 1925 and was stateless until 1932 when he took German nationality so he could become Reichs Chancellor in 1933. After his first overthrow, he was exiled to Elba but failing to behave himself, he escaped and raised another army in France - which got slaughtered at Waterloo.
After that, he was sent to St Helena, for good.
Astoundingly, Napoleon actually thought the British were going to exile him in a nice country house in England....
In fairness that was the tradition. Provided the individual concerned was the "right sort of chap" - i.e. an aristo.
But Napoleon was from a relatively modest Corsican family.
He was a brilliant general and military strategist and Wellington (another brilliant general) did have a fair amount of luck at Waterloo.
Napoleon was Great. I won't have a word said against him. But which Napoleon might help.

Good God. Was it that easy? What a hoot. I thought that Hitler was an Austrian. Or am I wrong about that?
Personally, I wouldn't give you tuppence happeny for either of them. But then I am not known for my kindness towards Austria or Germany.

http://www.thedrum.com/news/2016/01/21/amid-rumours-buyout-what-would-newscorp-stand-gain-twitter-acquisition
Rumours of a Twitter buyout have been circulating over the past few days after reports suggested that Rupert Murdoch's News Corp was considering an acquisition or stock takeover of the social media platform.
News Corp and Twitter have both denied any truth to the rumours but that didn't stop shares in the latter shooting up 14 per cent on Wednesday afternoon (20 January) in the peak of market speculation, lifting the stock from a record low.
Tech website re/code said the social media site had made itself a potential takeover target thanks to its dwindling stock price, which has been steadily declining over the past few years. The value of its stock now two-thirds of the value it was during its pomp. Up until the close of Tuesday (19 January), the stock had fallen nearly 41 per cent since co-founder Jack Dorsey was named permanent CEO in October.
For News Corp, the digitalisation of news and increasing number of people are consuming news almost exclusively through platfroms like Facebook and Twitter would make it a strategic investment. ...etc.
Oh dear, what will the hatertw@ts do if they are taken over by Murdoch?

It does seem that the heart of feminism is women being constantly told to value themselves but only rarely to value other women. I give you GOMI, or Get Off My Internets, an American site founded by Brooklyn blogger Alice Wright (she posts under the name PartyPants) that exists to evaluate “mommy blogs” and wreck the dignity of the women who write them. It has been called a “mean girls” site for adults, and it is punishingly cruel toward young mothers trying to start a blogging business or even play a part in the wider world while staying at home with their children.
GOMI is vicious. It crushes small hopes with a giant boot. The GOMI attackers are like the small select band of cyberbullies, many of them female, who torment Gerry and Kate McCann, the British doctors whose tiny daughter Madeleine was kidnapped in Portugal in 2007. The child has never been found.
But who would troll bereaved parents? When one of the McCann’s tormenters, a Brenda Leyland using the handle @sweepyface on Twitter, was approached by a reporter about her years of cyberbullying, she killed herself. Wealthy but unemployed, she had been tweeting about the McCann case for years. Why? Class resentment, dislike of Kate McCann’s apparent indomitability, a hobby.
An interesting comment, but it fails to grasp the fact that many of the worst McCann-haters like to call themselves 'fiesty, independent women', etc., and mock Kate McCann because she doesn't work at present.
The majority of them fawn over the likes of Corbyn and Galloway - Bennett is an outlier.

Hater conspiraloon:
What if the McCanns are also being controlled? What if they have no choice but to go with the official line too? Would be an explanation of how and why they got - and continue to get - the 'support' they did. But what could be so huge?
Or there's no vast, multi-national conspiracy and Madeleine McCann was abducted.

Why are there so few photographs of the #McCann family holiday? Why were the police given grainy, dark, b&w pics instead of originals?

So, if the PJ didn't have the originals, how did the PJ make copies for the PJ files, oh wise one? That has to win some kind of award for sheer stupidity....

It's a wonder to behold, Sabot. They're talking absolute tosh, inventing utter rubbish - and are somehow convinced that, if they say it often enough, if they can make enough of their fellow-haters believe it, it can somehow be made true....

Re: Twitter pledges to clamp down on trolls
I can hardly believe they still think The McCanns are going to be arrested at any minute. This is hysterically funny. Or it would be if it wasn't so tragic for their scrambled brains.
Yoo Hoo. Are ya listening to me? It ain't gonna happen. The McCanns are Innocent, FFS.

Why did #McCann take breakfast indoors with the shutters down in the kids room after 29th April 2007?
Painful, desperate conspiraloonacy. It's just....just....sad. But very funny.
