Angela Eagle faces the prospect of a no confidence vote from her own constituency Labour party, it has been revealed just hours before she launches her formal leadership challenge against Jeremy Corbyn.

The former Shadow Business Secretary, who said she was standing against the Labour leader because of his inability to do the job, is set to be the topic of a “lively debate” next Friday in Wallasey with a no confidence motion on the agenda, according to her local party’s vice chair.

Asked whether such a motion existed, Paul Davies said: “Well, there is a motion to that effect and I am sure that will be a debate at our next meeting on the 22nd… I can’t possibly say what all 1,200 people think – but it’s going to be a very lively debate.”

“Up until the 24th June Angela Eagle was supporting Jeremy Corbyn but the party was united in Wallasey… I want to see a fair election now with both members on the ballot papers,” Mr Davies told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme. ....etc.

It would be impossible to make any of this up.

But they got what they wanted, LL. The whole point of UKIP was to hold a referendum on Europe, we've had one, and Leave won. What else are they supposed to do?

I suspect that, in the coming months, if UKIP get organised again, they will take council seats in northern England, and beat Labour in by elections - if they decide to go on as a proper party, and not a campaign group.

They will have to re-organise themselves, though.

I would forget any thought of independence, LL - Ms Sturgeon is screwing up massively at home, for all the noise she's making in the media. After voting SNP for decades - long before it was cool - I voted LibDem at the recent Holyrood elections - it's that bad.

She's only interested in the ex-Labour urban vote, not the formerly bedrock SNP rural, tourist, fishing and farming areas - which is why so many of them went Tory in May.

You won't see Ms Sturgeon making too much noise about that.....it took some doing to spark a Tory revival in Scotland.

She is also ignoring the approx. 350,000 SNP voters who voted Leave - that support is gone for good, IMO. Ms Sturgeon is great at threatening, demanding and getting her photie took - she is totally out of her depth at actually running the country.

Her grandstanding over serious matters which require serious thought is causing many to start questioning her sanity.
