Interesting to learn that Pat Brown will be attending Goncalo Amaral's libel trial in Feb.

Even the thought of Pat Brown and Goncalo Amaral coming together to get justice and truth will be enough to give Team McCann sleepless nights, I would think. Both are professionals who have a wealth of experience in the field of crime, they are tenacious and neither show any signs of backing down. In addition, Pat is popular and respected in America and makes regular appearances on TV and radio shows, discussing high profile homicide case in an articulate and reasoned manner. In a nutshell, Pat has an excellent public image and many contacts in the circles she works in.

As for the anti-terrorism training the majority of Americans have the same entitlement to the training. However, Bushmeat Patty, said the Fort Hood Massacre had nothing to do with terrorism, proving she couldn't spot a terrorist even if he had Al Quada tattooed on his forehead.

As for Breivik -if the law was to be strictly applied, when he was released AFTER serving his sentence, he would only be in his earlier 50's, in good time for a mid-life crisis.

I hasten to add, I have no doubt Norway will find a way to keep him locked up for pretty much the rest of his life.

But if B$own thought that rubbish was going to silence her US critics, especially on that blog, she couldn't have done worse if she tried.

Probably not going to be a popular view, but having read her reasons for drawing a distinction between a terrorist and a mass murdering psycopath, I agree with her. I think there is a quite clear distinction and McVeigh and Breivik both fall, in my view, into the latter category.

I would agree to some extent. But I would need to know a bit more about where they gained their ideology. Were they radicalised by other people, or did they just choose a cause as an excuse for their rampages?

If she had said this before they were caught, the police could have been looking for entirely the wrong people due to age alone. But having said it after, she is clearly wrong. I don't know why she got it so wrong because she must know the ages of these two men. But if she can't profile a criminal she knows of, then I wouldn't say much for her chance of profiling a criminal she doesn't know of.

A fair point, Sabot. And given that none of us have the mindset to go on the murderous rampage, all of us are groping in the dark when considering such things.

But in critisising anothers point of view, it is important to analyse what they actually say.

To give credit where it is due, there is much there with which I agree. To my mind the distinction is that a terrorist is usually driven by dedication to an ideology or cause external to him or herself. (one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter - look at Israel in the aftermath of WW2. Some of the "terrorists" later became politicians. More recent events in Palestine further blur the distinction.).

Mass murderers appear to be driven by rage, perhaps against their fellow man for some slight, or by self loathing. Or by a desire to be famous. Some adhere to a "cause" or terrorist organisation - perhaps to try to justify their actions - but I would take a lot of convincing that there is much substance to "The Norwegian resistance movement". And who knew that the Knights Templar have a branch in Norway?

They commit acts of terror with the intention of causing terror; they regard terrorising people as a means to an end = they are terrorists.

I would have thought the fact that she thinks men aged 32 and 27 are having 'mid life crises' would indicate the flaw in her logic.

She is excusing their acts and trivializing what they did.

'Lefty' is perhaps the wrong word for B$own - 'totalitarian' would perhaps be better.

She despises crime victims - time and again, she has managed to twist reality so she can tell her freak fans that they 'asked for it'.

She is doing it again with her dismissive remarks about McVeigh and Breivik - their victims were not victims of terrorist acts, they were victims of men having mid-life crises.

The woman has no empathy whatsoever for victims, for anyone but herself.

Look at her knee-jerk statement that she cannot think like a Left-winger because she is 'pro police'. More bollocks - what does she think the Stasi were then? They weren't short of supporters.

Her efforts to dictate to Amazon what they may, or may not sell, is Stalinist command thinking, not free market thinking.

Her squalid little leaflet, and her remarks about mummified corpses, have victimized the McCanns, who are already suffering, so B$own targets them to make them suffer all over again.
