Not the best PR I've ever seen. He looks as if he's going to eat that child he's clutching as a snack, and look at this one:
When did anyone in the West last see a hospital ward that looked like that? There's no equipment, no IVs, nothing. The nurse at the back doesn't seem to have as much as a pen in her pocket.

Look at the expressions on the 'patients' faces. That could not possibly be staged, could it?

The only functioning hospitals in N Korea are in the capital and are for the elite, the toadies who kowtow to the Kims and the generals. LL

Interesting reading, LL - that sounds more like the truth. And it's not that N Korea has no money - Fattie seems to have ample to spend on ski resorts and similar nonsense.

Fatty, his inner circle and the army have loads of money, most of which is spent on weapons and nuclear research, but the ordinary folks have nothing, which is why so many try to excape to the South or other Asdias countries. The death rate for the plebs is one of the highest in the world. Some info does get out to the South and it is well known that he treats his people as slaves. Kim Jong-un wants to build 'world class' ski resort in North Korea
Kim Jong-un has ordered the North Korean military to construct a "world-class" ski resort that will rival the winter sports facilities being built in South Korea to host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
By Julian Ryall, Tokyo1:53PM BST 27 May 2013
Kim recently visited the location of the Masik Pass Skiing Ground to give "on the spot field guidance" on the construction of the resort, which will have beginner, intermediate and advanced-level routes on more than 68 miles of mountainside.
The highest peak in the mountains around the site rises more than 4,400 feet above sea level.
No expense is being spared on the project and the resort will have a hotel, cable cars, equipment stores and a heliport, the KCNA state media reported.
"[Kim] mounted an observation deck to hear a detailed report on the construction of the skiing ground," the report said.
"He was greatly satisfied to learn that soldier-builders have constructed a skiing area on mountain ranges covering hundreds of thousands of square metres......etc.
I take it 'soldier-builders' = slave labour?

Yes, the Tesco is a bit of a surprise, isn't it? The irony is, it probably does more good, long-term, than any amount of spying, attempts to force the North to do...well, anything. Better that people start thinking for themselves and seeing for themselves that Fat Spoonbanger is not only a tyrant, he's an incompetent tyrant that's wrecked the economy for all but the elite.

North Korea to publish 'rosy' rights report
Pyongyang's human rights association says its report will counter the "lies and fabrications" of others.
North Korea has said it is to publish its own "rosy" human rights report, six months after a UN inquiry published a list of violations so severe as to amount to crimes against humanity.
The North's Association for Human Rights Studies said on Monday that the report would counter the "lies and fabrications" put around by unspecified "hostile forces" about the rights situation in the isolated state.
North Korea is regularly listed among the world's worst human rights offenders in indexes compiled by governments, UN agencies and rights watchdogs.
In one of the most comprehensive reports to date, a UN Commission on Inquiry into the country's rights record published its findings in February, detailing a wide range of systemic abuses including murder, enslavement and torture.
The commission concluded that many of the violations constituted crimes against humanity, and suggested they could be placed before the International Criminal Court.
"The gravity, scale and nature of these violations revealed a state that does not have any parallel in the contemporary world," it said.
North Korea rejected the report as a "sheer fabrication" invented by the United States and its allies.
A spokesman from North Korea's rights association said its own report would help people "do away with their prejudice and misunderstanding" about the rights situation.
"The report will show the true picture of the people of the (North) dynamically advancing towards a brighter and rosy future," he said in an interview with the North's official KCNA news agency.
No release date was given, with the spokesman only saying the report would be published in "the near future".
That should be a joy to read.

Pyongyang rejects invitation, no Catholics from North at papal Mass

Pyongyang rejects invitation, no Catholics from North at papal Mass
The Association of North Korean Catholics sent a letter accusing the Seoul government: "You refuse to cancel the military exercises with the U.S., the visit is impossible". An official of the Catholic Bishops' Conference: "It means that they find the question difficult to manage."
Seoul (AsiaNews) - North Korea has refused the invitation of the Archdiocese of Seoul and will not send any "Catholics" to participate in the Mass that the Pope will celebrate in Myeongdong Cathedral on 18 August. This rejection of the invitation was contained in a letter sent by the Association of North Korean Catholics, a puppet body created by Kim Il-sung. It accuses the South of "not having cancelled the upcoming joint exercises with the United States, a gesture that makes any visit impossible". According to an official of the South Korean Bishops' Conference "this letter means that the North finds it difficult to accept the invitation and handle the matter."
The invitation was first extended by the Archdiocese of Seoul to Pyongyang on 26 May, and then repeatedly made in following days. The hope was also to involve a delegation from the North at the great mass for reconciliation and peace that Francis will celebrate on the last day of his apostolic visit to the peninsula. According to the letter "under these circumstances, coming to Seoul would be an agonizing step".
The North Korean constitution guarantees religious freedom, but in reality it is non-existent in the country. The only cult allowed is worship of the national leaders (the "father of the nation" Kim Il-sung and his son Kim Jong-il), and the faithful of all religions are threatened with the harshest penalties - including death by firing squad - if caught being "religious". There are three churches in the capital Pyongyang, two Protestant and one Catholic, but are "smoke screens" to appease the few tourists who visit the country. In North Korea, there are no priests or Buddhist monks.
The Association claims to have 3 thousand "Catholics" among its members, but AsiaNews sources estimate that there are less than 800: these are mostly very old people, baptized before the Korean War (which started in 1950) who have no way of practicing their faith. On some special occasions like Christmas, it is possible that the surviving faithful meet to exchange a greeting of "peace", but nothing more than that.
Today's rejection however is not the last word on the issue: Pyongyang is in dire need of humanitarian aid from the South, and only Christians and Buddhists have the permission of the Seoul government to prepare and send these humanitarian loads. In addition, as a source that works in this field tells AsiaNews, "the North always waits until the very last moment to make its final decision. And the fact that it was the Association and not the government to respond leaves some room for hope that a North Korean delegation may be present for the Mass on the 18th".

Re: N KOREA LATEST - FAT SPOON BANGER EXECUTES HIS UNCLE
Gout is being rumoured here, LL:
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/sep/26/kim-jong-un-gout-rumours-ill-health-north-korea
That Kim Jong-un is carrying a few extra pounds has been blindingly obvious since he became North Korea’s leader in late 2011. But speculation that his increasing weight – apparently the result of a weakness for cheese – has brought on debilitating spells of gout rose dramatically this week after he failed to attend an important parliamentary session.
Rumours that Kim, a reputed heavy smoker, is in less that robust health surfaced this year when state TV footage showed him with a pronounced limp and looking noticeably bulkier than he did during his first few months as leader.
On Friday, North Korean authorities, in a rare display of openness about their leader’s health, admitted Kim was suffering from an “uncomfortable physical condition”, but did not mention rumours that the 31-year-old had gout.
Gout is, I understand, very painful, so let's hope he has gout.

Re: N KOREA LATEST - FAT SPOON BANGER EXECUTES HIS UNCLE
He is a very heavy smoker so it may be more serious.
Gout:Smoking can damage blood vessel walls, making it more difficult for your heart to pump blood to your hands and feet. In serious cases, this can lead to peripheral vascular disease (PVD).
PVD occurs when the arteries that carrry blood to your legs or arms become partially or totally blocked by the build up of fatty material on your artery wall. This may result in severe pain, especially when exercising. Other symptoms may include numbness, weakness or a feeling of heaviness in your legs, cool patches of skin on your feet or legs, sores or ulcers on your feet that do not heal properly, and brittle toenails. PVD can also lead to gangrene and amputation.
Quitting reduces your risk of developing PVD, compared to a continuing smoker. Quitting slows down the worsening of PVD in those who have the disease. They live longer, have less pain and more likely to avoid amputation. The earlier you quit, the lower your risk of developing symptoms of PVD.
Looks to me like PVD is more likely unless he is also a heavy drinker. LLLifestyle factors. Choices you make in your everyday life may increase your risk of gout. Excessive alcohol use — generally more than two drinks a day for men and more than one for women — increases the risk of gout.
Medical conditions. Certain diseases and conditions make it more likely that you'll develop gout. These include untreated high blood pressure (hypertension) and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high levels of fat and cholesterol in the blood (hyperlipidemia), and narrowing of the arteries (arteriosclerosis).

LL6. Heavy Drinker - Unconfirmed reports and an account by Kim Jong-il's chef claims Jong-un is a heavy drinker, is a diabetic and suffers from hypertension. Kim Jong-il's former personal chef, Kenji Fujimoto, stated if power is to be handed over then Jong-un is the best for it. He has superb physical gifts, is a big drinker and never admits defeat.
