Googling the actual phrase in the article on its own "desistência de queixa" reveals it means "withdrawal of complaint".

Thanks for that. It is of importance, and I certainly wanted to know. The thing is, should we speculate on why she withdrew her complaint?
I am really not sure about this as I have no desire to descend into the depths of what I have seen elsewhere. And this particular thing could go a bit too far if we are not mindful.

I can't help beyond that phrase, I'm afraid. Unfortunately Google (although he is a good friend) doesn't know everything and even if he does, he has a habit of not telling me.
