Re: BENNETT GETS THE BILL
Bennett's been told to
GO FORTH AND MULTIPLY
over his shrieking demands for two Lisbon lawyers to give him, an English *cough* Europe-hater, private documents:
Tony Bennett Today at 10:06 pm
For information, and without comment, here are the last four paragraphs of a letter e-mailed me today from Carter-Ruck:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
QUOTE
Finally, we confirm that we have contacted our clients' Portuguese lawyers Isabel Duarte & Associados concerning your suggestion that they "wrote to Mr Amaral's lawyers and to the Civil Cout, on or about 8 January, with proposals (1) to adjourn the trial for 6 months and (2) to seek a settlement with Dr Amaral".
While Isabel Duarte & Associados have not confirmed the existence of any communications in the terms which you suggested, they have confirmed that any communications passing between themselves and Mr Amaral's lawyer are confidential under Portuguese law and therefore cannot be disclosed to third parties.
In any event, neither we nor our clients have a copy of any communications which may have passed between Isabel Duarte & Associados and Mr Amaral's lawyers concerning the question of the adjournment.
In addition, however, Isabel Duarte & Associados have confirmed that lawyers for both parties requested a stay of 30 days in the Portuguese proceedings to allow them to enter into settlemeent discussions. As such we are informed that your suggestion that Isabel Duarte & Associoades requested a 6 month stay or adjournment is simply not correct".

Re: BENNETT GETS THE BILL
So, why didn't Gonc's lawyers tell his Number One UK fan what was going on?
Oh wait, I know. Because Gonc despises Bennett, and anyway, he's too busy getting Levy crap published in O Crime. Which is easier now Gonc and O Crime have the same lawyer.

Some dumbo hounder:
"Nah, we don't have the paper work to hand" doesn't mean it doesn't exist or didn't exist at some time (before it got destroyed/burnt/binned/lost/left on the bus/the dog ate it, just like my late homework)
As you say, how convenient.
No.
What is being discussed by Portuguese lawyers is no business of some loser in an English suburb.

There they go with that confidential thing again. So confidential it was, Amaral's team got it announced on the Portuguese television.bb1 wrote:Bennett's been told to

Re: The talks in Portugal in McCanns v Amaral - Carter-Ruck's version of events

Isn't Amaral prepared to give you a copy of his copy of the letter?
Yes - why won't Gonc let his Number One fan see the letter that could save his skin?
Oh wait, I know! Because Gonc couldn't give a flying one about Bennett; he's of no further use now.
And Bennett has NO right at all to see letters between complete strangers in the first place.

One would have thought that all Bennett needed to do was email Gonc, and the information would have been his?
After all that devotion from the hounders - who can forget GASP day? Did Hoho's hilarious Xmas card count for nothing? Did SWALK kiss envelopes on camera in vain? What about the money the hounders sent Gonc?
Why, onlookers would be forgiven for thinking that Gonc wants nothing to do with Bennett and the hounders! Though he may have other things on his mind.
Like cutting a deal behind his fan clubs' back, in the hope of retrieving a few euros from his frozen assets.

All he is liable to do, in fact, is drive the judge into the camp of those totally p*ssed off with Bennett's anti-social behaviour.

e: FAO ALL THE LURKERS!!!!
Tony Bennett Today at 6:09 pm
Just popping in to say one thing.
The contributions from all the lurkers here (on this thread and elsewhere) have made a very big impression on me the past few days. I think I've read every one of them, and there have lots!
Often, you have spoken very concisely, very directly and I would also say very powerfully about all the issues that surround this whole case.
Many many times I have thought 'I must be wrong', maybe after seeing yet another polished performance from the McCanns in a TV interview where their story has come out, just as they want it to, and, superficially at least, very persuasivlye.
Many many times when I've discussed the case with people who have never looked behind the headlines they are shocked, even outraged by my views. "Surely they have been through enough already?", "How could you doubt them, no-one could keep up a lie like that for years and years", "Why don't you let it rest and leave them alone?", and so on. I can see why it looks like that.
Thank you, each and every one of you, old friends and new, for articulating that degree of support that I kind of felt was always out there... but now I know much more about it, so many many thanks - especially if you've gone to the trouble of registering in order to wish me well
-------------------------
He still doesn't get it, does he? It doesn't matter what a bunch of socks think; this is a matter of law, and his flouting of the law, not a Cutest Pitchforker Contest.

I shudder to think what kind of an exhibition he is going to make of himself in the dock, LL - he is so sloppy and careless, it beggars belief. As for...
Many many times I have thought 'I must be wrong'
If he had put as much effort into thinking, as he has into stalking, smearing. libelling and harrassing people, then he wouldn't be in this mess.
Because he IS wrong, horribly, completely wrong. And the adoration of his cult is not going to change that.

How has he got the nerve to say that? He has been banning people wholesale for saying precisely the same thing, even some of his own supporters, and only last week, or was it this week, three more have been derided and banned.
He's just trying to pretend that he has put some serious and logical thought into this rather than the narrow minded one track and spiteful campaign he actually indulges in.

Re: BENNETT GETS THE BILL
This one must be taking the p*ss:
This is probably covered somewhere but can't see - but if (hopefully when) Tony wins this case, will be be compensated for all he has been put through - hours of work and I'm sure many financial and emotional sacrifices? It seems so unjust that this couple can cause havoc in someone's life and walk away unscathed and potential bankrupting someone, sending them to jail and putting them through complete hell because THEY made at best an error of judgement abandoning their babies?
Bennett wages a vendetta for five years, stalks, smears and tries to intimidate anyone he feels like picking on - and he's the victim?
Not in the real world he isn't - he's the perpetrator, and his targets are the victims.
I can see we need a thread about the many, many vile things Bennett and his gang have done to people.

Spot on, LL. Bennett and his cult demonstrate daily that they have absolutely no concern for their victims, or grasp of the hurt they have caused innocent people.
They actually think that, if this gets in the press, people will feel sorry for Bennett. When the truth is that the public will be outraged when they find out the full extent of his vendetta.

Re: BENNETT GETS THE BILL
It's the ultimate form of bullying, and the ultimate form of cowardice. Attack people who cannot or will not fight back until it becomes too much to endure and they take the only course available to try and stop the tormenting. And the tormentors, the 'victims' in all this? They run shrieking and screaming that they are being ill-treated, they are the innocents and deserve better treatment. Well, it will be very interesting to see exactly what the outcome of all this is, won't it? LL

Nah, she's all mouth and no trousers. She won't actually DO anything.
But, quite obviously there has been more going on between Carter Ruck and Bennett than he has been letting on. I think he might be trying to engender enough additional paper work to ask for another adjournment.

Re: BENNETT GETS THE BILL
I will not be surprised if he tries some last-minute stunt, Sabot. I suspect he has been scheming all along to delay his court dates until after Gonc's trial.
The last thing Bennett will have expected is Gonc commencing talks with the McCanns' legal people in Portugal.
And, IMO, that raises some interesting questions.
Bennett is off his head if he thinks that he can demand correspondance between two Portuguese citizens to be handed over to him; he seems unable to grasp that events in Portugal have NOTHING to do with his breaching his solemn and binding agreement.
But here's the interesting thing.
Why didn't Gonc tell Bennett about any of this?

Re: BENNETT GETS THE BILL
I think Gonc has known for some time that Bennett was doing him no good whatsoever, and probably hasn't been communicating with Bennett for fear of what Bennett would do with any communication between them.
Meanwhile, after today's revelation about Gonc's Trial being on hold for just one month, Bennett is hoping that the outcome could still help him, if he can put his own Trial off yet again.
Talk about round and round the parlour. This is getting ridiculous.

IMO, Gonc is going to settle. It's the only way he is going to retrieve some of his frozen assets in this lifetime.
Supposing it did go to court - then whoever lost would appeal, and it will go on and on forever.
