For whatever reasons, the McCanns and team are being very well protected in this country and I don't see that changing in the forseeable future. The best chance imo of progress being made will probably be through Pat Brown and Goncalo Amaral. Pat is a gutsy and tenacious lady and as long as she continues to give her opinion freely in other countries about this case there is a stronger likelyhood that more and more people will begin doubting the McCanns and challenging their story. I cant see her walking away from this, especially now that she has had first hand experience of being threatened by Carter Ruck, via Amazon, by TM.

Much also hangs on the outcome of Goncalo Amaral's trial and, now that the ban on his book has been over-turned, we have every reason to be optimistic that things will not go the McCanns' way. As the McCanns appear to be in contempt of court by defying a judge's order to return the books, it is possible that they could be arrested when they turn up at the court.

I just find it really strange that they have not been retrieved by the publishers.
The books don't belong to Amaral so he cannot request the return. It has to be the publishers. Perhaps they see no point as the sale value is now nil?

Let's look at this from the commercial side.

Any publisher would be loathe to allow the books to be put back for sale until the libel issue has been settled once and for all. Why risk the outlay of even more money in possible damages? G & P are on the hook for enough already. They are trying to limit the damage as best as they can.

What is even more telling is that G & P are no longer Gonc's publisher.

Well, the libel trial could be far enough away....and Gonc hasn't a snowball's chance, after some of the rubbish he has come out with.
Also, he has the criminal conviction for lying on oath - that doesn't really help his credibility much, does it?
Maybe the publishers have simply had enough, and don't need any more trouble over a discredited book?

Gonc's fans seem to forget - he may have won the right to mouth off on Yuman Rites grounds, but he can't force anyone to listen to him, and he certainly cannot force anyone to publish his nonsense and libel.

As soon as we heard from the twitter person in court at the initial libel hearing way back, when the judge asked Menezes (Gonc's very own witness) what the chances were of Madeleine being alive. His response of 50/50 was it.

G & P knew then as we do. Gonc cannot defend his position in a libel suit. Or more to the point, cannot prove that what he has stated is true regarding the fate of Madeleine and in turn, harming the search for her.

So Gonc has so far won his yuman rights, but G & P don't seem to be listening to him, do they? Gonc really must take it up with his ex-publishers.
