Re: Gardening Thread.
UK will be very silly if they don't. I have all of her Outlander Series, except for the last one, and I have read them all twice so far.
I shall have a look for Vikings. So thanks for that.

Re: Gardening Thread.
It was really good, and The Gaelic sounded great, although I couldn't understand it. No subtitles, by the way.
I expect you will remember me mentioning Diana Gabaldon before. American, but an excellent Author with what is primarily a Scottish thing, although they do go to America and other places.
I have a suspicion that I shall read the books again soon, for a third time.

Re: Gardening Thread.
It's supposed to do all sorts of horrid things:
http://news.sky.com/story/1316122/weather-warnings-as-bertha-batters-britain
Sky News weather presenter Isobel Lang said: "Heavy rain, associated with the remnants of hurricane Bertha, has already spread up across southwest England, Wales, eastern parts of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
"Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, received 21mm of rain in two hours between 4am and 6am and 15mm of rain fell in Cardiff between 6am and 7am with an area of thunderstorms now spreading across much of south Wales.
"Wind gusts to around 40mph have been recorded along the south coast as the low pressure area has moved in.
40mph? Southern softies - that's a gentle breeze.

Re: Gardening Thread.
The second episode of Outlander is up on Project Free.
Absolutely bloody marvellous and totally riveting. I have just dragged out the first book to read again. "Cross Stitch" or "Dragonfly in Amber" as it has two titles.
It will be interesting to see what those of you who haven't read the books think of it all.

Re: Gardening Thread.
Okay, time to bore you all again.
The pee worked on the Runner Beans. Got a couple of kilos there. But it didn't do much for the Tomatoes, or the one and only apple sized Squash.
My Hydrangeas were glorious for about a month, and then all fell over from the weight of the flowers. I have now cut them back a bit. Just potted up a few cuttings. Well, quite a lot of cuttings actually. I rescued some really good terracotta pots from the Recycling Bins where everyone now dumps their reusable rubbish, so I had to use them for something.
I am just about beginning to understand pruning Hydrangeas. We shall see next year.
Charlotte is fine, and not bumping into quite so many things now. Apart from that, she seems to be remarkably healthy. She is currently barking at imagined intruders. "Shut Up, Charlotte." I never had such a barky dog.
I feed her twice a day because she is knocking on a bit, but she seems to have got some idea in her head about Lunch. God knows who she got that from. No Chance. But we haven't had a little accident for several weeks now.
I might just put down the new carpet.
Bought a NEW Fridge and a NEW Freezer. My first ever New for either of them. Spent too much money, so I am now on freezer rations.
Cut the grass for what I hope is the last time this year. Missed a bit. Clippers tomorrow. I can't be arsed to get the lawn mower out again.

Charlotte will probably be remembering where everything is now, Sabot, and navigating by smell and sound. Best get the hatches battened down before Hurricane Gonzo strikes - and no, I'm not making that up...

Yes, I'm sure she has, Bonny. Dear, little fat pudding.

There's something rather apt about that name for once - a destructive mass of wind and pi water.

These men made the most of the weather and went for a swim in Brighton, which will be largely unaffected by Gonzalo

Re: Gardening Thread.
It has not come anywhere near here again..
Incidentally, Petrole, or Parafin, in English, has vastly gone down in price. I have no idea why.. I am now into Electricity because I no longer have to hump big bidons of Parafin with my ever on going bad back.
I scraped all of the moss off my front, North facing step yesterday. This did nothing at all for my bad back.
But I planted some more Crocus Bulbs today. Next Spring really isn't that far away.
Live long and prosper. It is only a state of mind.

No, Bonny. Everyone in their right mind took down their garden canopies a couple of weeks ago. And I don't know anyone young enough to want a Trampoline. But I expect that I will think of something to do with it if one ever lands in my garden.
Anyway, i got some fresh Dog Meat for the ghastly Charlotte today. Not that easy to come by. Smelly, little horror. She is like a demented child. She follows me everywhere, with her nose up against my legs.
I didn't sign up for this. I didn't know that Pugs get Dementia. But I probably would have rescued her anyway.
Two bloody months of her being a real character, and then she went loopy, and became entirely dependant. It was almost sudden.
But there you go. Another lesson in owning dogs. A lesson that I didn't really want. She was abandoned by the people that she had known for seven years, and then got dumped with me.
I suspect that I should have her on my bed, but I have never been able to hack that with any dog. And I am past carting her up and down stairs anyway. Apart from Hamlet.
Not sure what I am going to do about dogs now. This is one malfeasance that I don't know what to do about. But she will be okay in my house.

I don't really mind them on my bed, Sabot. It's when they try to steal my duvet that I get annoyed.....
