Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/4/22/keystone-xl-protestcowboysindiansranchers.html
WASHINGTON — For a few days, tepees erected by Native Americans and their cowboy allies will frame the view of the Washington Monument from the National Mall.
A group of roughly 60 ranchers, farmers, and tribal leaders and members whose land falls near or on the proposed pathway of the contested Keystone XL pipeline, calling themselves the Cowboy and Indian Alliance, rode into the nation’s capital on horseback Tuesday to set up camp and begin four days of demonstrations to register their protest of the project.
Pity they all had to disarm; mind you, Obama seems to be terrified of people on horses, with or without weapons.
Ah, the thoughts that image conjures up.

Israel risks becoming apartheid state if peace talks fail, says John Kerry
It is believed to be the first time a US official of Kerry's standing has used the term 'apartheid' in the context of Israel
Way to go, Kerry! Alienate your only ally in the Middle East!
That moron shouldn't be allowed out without a minder.

Of course what he said would not go down well......

ADL 'startled and disappointed' over Kerry's 'apartheid' comment
Anti-Defamation League says that while it appreciated secretary of state's commitment to peace, his choice of words were 'undiplomatic, unwise and unfair.'
The Anti-Defamation League said on Monday it was "disappointed" by remarks made by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who cautioned that Israel risks becoming an apartheid state if a two-state solution isn’t agreed upon in the near future.
"It is startling and deeply disappointing that a diplomat so knowledgeable and experienced about democratic Israel chose to use such an inaccurate and incendiary term," wrote ADL National Director Abe Foxman in a statement.
According to Foxman, while the ADL appreciates Kerry's commitment to a peaceful solution in the Middle East, his comments "used the repugnant language of Israel's adversaries and accusers" and were "undiplomatic, unwise and unfair."
"Such references," wrote Foxman, "are not seen as expressions of friendship and support."
On Monday, the Daily Beast reported on Kerry's statements, which he made last Friday at a closed meeting in Washington before senior officials from the U.S., Europe, Russia and Japan.
“A two-state solution," Kerry said, "will be clearly underscored as the only real alternative. Because a unitary state winds up either being an apartheid state with second class citizens—or it ends up being a state that destroys the capacity of Israel to be a Jewish state.
“Once you put that frame in your mind, that reality, which is the bottom line, you understand how imperative it is to get to the two-state solution, which both leaders, even yesterday, said they remain deeply committed to.”
It was the first time a U.S. official of Kerry's importance has used the contentious term "apartheid" in the context of Israel, even if only as a warning for the future.

That's it perfectly. Of course there are huge problems in the area - but why did Kerry feel the need to be downright rude and insulting to just about the only ally the US has there? It's utter madness.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
Kerry strongly criticized Bush, contending that he had misled the country: "When the President of the United States looks at you and tells you something, there should be some trust."
Oh, the irony.....
Reading through that, I am hard pushed to see any sign of Kerry having any genuinely-held principles. And I am afraid that anything Ollie North got up to pales into insignificance besides waving around forged documents as 'proof'; trying to start wars over gas attacks that have actually been carried out by your own allies; and the cream of the crop -
Supplying your country's worst enemies, Al Quaeda, with high-tech weapons and letting an American ambassador and others get murdered in the course of your dirty dealings.
Does Kerry imagine that the governments of every nation on earth don't know all this, and worse that isn't in the public domain? Does he think anyone trusts him and Obama?
Maybe he needs Sanctioned? The rest of the world should stop buying Heinz products for a week.....

So , if you are the parent of a son or daughter killed by Al Qaeda in Iraq or Afghanistan , you are now funding the organisation responsible for the death of your child, thats gotta hurt, hope you didn't vote for Obama.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
If Obama had the slightest bit of sense, he would sack Kerry and blame him for every single mess the US has wandered into recently.
I know the buck stops with Obama, but making Kerry the scapegoat and then:
1. Not trying to overthrow other nations' governments.
2. Not arming terrorists that loathe the US.
3. Not insulting any more friendly nations.
would at least be a start.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
When nations are about to boil over into chaos, the statesmanly thing to do is try to help the situation stablize, not sh*t-stir and cause bloodshed, surely?
And IMO Kerry is outright evil. Those were real Syrian civilians killed in the gas attack by his Turkish chums, just as it would have been real civilians, who have done NOTHING to the US, who would have died if he had got his war.
Would Ukraine have got as bad as it did if Nuland hadn't been handing out cakes to rioters? Probably not.

Nixon was impeached for less. And at least he didn't get anyone killed, especially not US ambassadors.

And how long can Kerry hang on?

I'm not going into the politics of that troubled region, but how DUMB was it to insult America's only allies in the Middle East?

Lots of people I know are discussing this. They too said to take politics and religion out, they are our one friend in the region. They also do not believe his excuse.

Re: Nevada rancher V US Government
It would have been an insult to an enemy; to a supposed ally, it's unforgivable. That's one more government that knows better than to trust the Obama administration.
