A large alligator has attacked and killed a man who ignored warnings not to swim at a Texas marina.
Tommie Woodward had just begun a late-night dip at a bayou when the attack occurred early on Friday, said police.
Orange County sheriff's deputies and a Texas game warden recovered the 28-year-old's body nearby about two hours later.
ustice of the Peace Rodney Price said Mr Woodward was at the Adams Bayou dock with a woman when he took off his shirt and shoes.
An onlooker at Burkart's Marina warned the man not to jump in the water, and a nearby sign reads: "No Swimming: Alligators."
But Mr Woodward took the plunge anyway, the judge says.
He was immediately attacked by the alligator.
Judge Price said the woman jumped in the water to try to rescue him as he screamed for help.
She felt something brush against her, which the judge said was probably the alligator's tail.
The woman was unhurt.
A warning sign at the marina
You really can't fix stupid.

Man Dies After Lighting Firework On His Head
Devon Staples dies instantly after setting off a firework mortar tube on top of his head while drinking with friends.
By Sky News US Team
A man has been killed after he placed a fireworks mortar tube on his head and set it off, authorities have revealed.
Devon Staples had been drinking with his friends to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday on Saturday at a house in Calais, Maine.
The 22-year-old then placed a reloadable fireworks mortar tube on his head before setting it off.
Stephen McCausland, a spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said: "Apparently, he thought it was a great idea.
"His friends thought [they had] dissuaded him from doing it, and the next thing they knew, he ignited the fireworks and he was killed instantly."
Cody Staples, Devon's brother, was just feet away from him when the firework exploded.
He told the New York Daily News: "There was no rushing him to the hospital. There was no Devon left when I got there.
"It was a freak accident... but Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid.
"He was the kind of person who would pretend to do something stupid to make people laugh."
Mr Staples' death is the first fireworks fatality in Maine since the state legalised fireworks in 2012.
Devon was not the kind of person who would do something stupid.
Famous last words.

You just think, Why? Why would anyone think sticking a large explosive on his head and lighting it was going to end well?

Pine marten orphan Edan becomes a house guest
JULY 29TH, 2015 - 12:30 AM BRIDGET MORRIS NO COMMENTS
An orphaned pine marten that wandered into a family home through the cat flap is being cared for at an animal rescue centre.
The animal tucked into some pet food and then curled up for a nap in a cat bed after strolling into the house in Gartness, Stirlingshire.
Ann Paterson called the Scottish SPCA when she discovered the cub, which has been named Edan by staff at the charity's National Wildlife Rescue Centre in Fishcross, Clackmannanshire, where it is now being cared for.
She said: "I had spotted the pine marten in the garden a few times but I didn't think anything of it.
"Then one day my daughter and I watched him go into the house through the cat flap.
"Our cats weren't around at the time and he started munching away on their food before curling up in one of their beds. I'm glad to hear Edan is doing well after being rescued."
