Looking at all that, I am glad my son left Glasgow this afternoon on his way to London by train. I would be frantic if he had stayed. LL

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Glad to hear that, LL. Just look at them - and remember the trouble-free parties that have been going on all over Scotland until today.

And the Better Togethers needn't pretend this is nothing to do with them - this is the same bunch of thugs as marched through Edinburgh last week to 'save the Union'.

My son is very strong willed, but he knows that if I urge him to a course of action then I am usually right and that I do it for his good.   He was originally going to stay on for a few days - he's been staying with relatives - but he realised my advice was sound so went south to stay with friends in London.    As for what is happening, my idea of a Federation looks very viable.   I am glad to be here, even though our PM is a bad thing!   LL

Amazing, the Mail is reporting it:

Nazi-saluting thugs mar No-vote victory celebrations in Glasgow as tensions rise after divisive referendum sees Scotland stay in union

Hundreds of men waving Union flags sang Rule Britannia as police contained them in a 'loose kettle'.

An estimated 80 police officers are trying to contain the demonstrators who are singing 'You can stick your independence up your a***'.

The men also sang 'If you hate Alex Salmond clap your hands' and 'God Save the Queen'.

Many of the protester, who are mostly aged between 20 and 40, appear to be quite intoxicated. One drunken protester boasted that 'Glasgow would burn for voting Yes,' claiming it was now 'payback time'.

Police Scotland confirmed that they have been dealing with 'disorder' in the area.

There was always a huge input from the Orange order and the unionist/loyalist support from Northern Ireland being put into the no campaign. Sad to see these pictures from Glasgow.

The yes supporters there should just walk away but sadly there will be idiots on that side too.

Agree, erngath, the police are best left to deal with these thugs. I actually shudder to think what they've had done if they'd lost, seeing them after they've won.

Onwards and upwards, LL! Once your son has recovered a bit, this might cheer him up:

Here's why so many Scots have a soft spot for Alex Salmond:

Just over 24 hours since the polls closed, and already the Vows have been torn up and thrown in the bin. And the para-military wing of Better Together is giving Nazi salutes in George Square.

So, what happened to the 'timetable' we were supposed to get today? And the UK parties have gone back on their Vows already. Oh, and the only party leader with integrity has resigned.

ETA, I've just read that to top it all off, there's an Orange March in Glasgow tomorrow. This is ghastly.

I did mention the possibility of a riot a couple of days ago, and I meant The Unionists Orangemen. But I was joking, sort of.

I once had a nasty incident with a male, Scottish Naval Air Mechanic working in my hangar at RNAS Abbotsinch over the fact that quite coincidentally I had painted my tool box green. I was told to change the colour, or else, which to my shame, I did. But I was only nineteen at the time and scared witless over something that I really didn't understand. And aircraft hangers aren't the safest places to work in.
That was my first experience of Orangemen nearly sixty years ago.

Utterly vile people, Sabot, and the unionists needn't bother pretending the scum are nothing to do with them - and neither need the media.

The supposedly-liberal Guardian in particular was fawning all over the 'colourful' Orange parade last weekend in Edinburgh, the UK media was full of praise for these lovely people marching to defend Our Beloved Union. The rest of us knew exactly what they were.

Better Together kept these animals in their kennels during the campaign, but last night they slipped the leash.

Just allowing them to march, anywhere, is provocative. This is what they intend. And don't tell me that Westminster doesn't know this.

The Orange Order is an abomination.
