TO listen to the BBC, you might believe that every one of the hundreds of thousands of migrants clamouring to get into the EU was a Syrian refugee fleeing the horror of Islamic State or tyrannical president Bashar al-Assad.
But new Eurostat figures show the truth: 80 per cent are economic migrants from as far afield as Pakistan, Nigeria and Albania simply looking for a better life.
The Mail does not underestimate the agony and desperation of genuine Syrian asylum seekers who, of course, deserve care and compassion. That’s why David Cameron was right to ensure that those granted refuge in Britain come from camps on the Syrian border, rather than from among those already in Europe – who may not be Syrian.
But Germany – by first extending a welcome to all migrants, then slamming its borders shut when overwhelming numbers responded to the invitation – has created chaos for all its neighbours, where untold numbers are now stranded.
Through her naive and muddled policy, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has placed the very future of the EU in jeopardy.

That's better although I still don't understand why many of the young men would not stay behind and help their country like other people have done before them.

Surprise, surprise.  I wonder how long it will take to filter out to the rest of the world.....

It has more in common with the Mariel boatlift, Lily, than it has with genuine fleeing refugees.

Gov’t declares state of crisis for six counties altogether

The government has declared a state of crisis due to mass migration for Zala and Vas counties in western Hungary, and Baranya and Somogy counties in south-western Hungary, the latest issue of the official gazette Magyar Közlöny reported.Hungary has now declared a state of crisis in a total of six counties. Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced on Thursday evening that the state of crisis would be extended to Baranya and Somogy counties because Croatia’s immigration system “collapsed within a single day”.The state of crisis for Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád counties took effect earlier in the week.

I do wish the media would stop calling them 'Syrian refugees', as the overwhelming majority are neither Syrian nor refugees.

Well, if you want your paycheck you will do as we tell you to....  I think that's why Bonny?

And I bet that, once things have settled down, that woman and her children have a better life, away from those thuggish men, than the rest of the horde trying to force their way into an increasingly-unwelcoming Germany.

Still, at least Germany is being thrifty and making use of previously-built facilities!

That alone should be a clue that Germany is totally out of its depth.

Now, what would happen if hundreds of thousands of Europeans, without papers, marched into Iran or Saudi, and demanded to be fed, clothed and housed? And that Iran and Saudi had to change their culture to suit us?

We'd be chased out at bayonet point - and quite rightly. This is beyond a joke now.

Hate to say it but it is only going to get worse before it gets better? 

I have NO doubt that it is going to end in appalling violence in Europe, Lily - it's just a matter of time before this powderkeg blows up.

Frankly, IMO, the only answer is to send all but the most genuine and vulnerable back to Turkey - Greece should never, ever have let them in, and I do wonder about Greece's motives for doing so. Remember, the one branch of Greek government that has not been slashed is the military.

The do-gooders that have been polishing their halos by 'rescuing' them from the Med and depositing them in Italy have a lot to answer for, too. If the first couple of boatloads had been fed, watered and taken back to North Africa, the message would have quickly got through.

Instead, the bleeding hearts have been competing to prove who's the most compassionate and caring. In reality, none of them are - they are hypocrisy personified. They have been inciting people to risk their lives and enriching human traffickers, all so they can polish their halos.

US Secretary of State John Kerry has called on Russia and Iran to bring Syria's Bashar al Assad to the negotiating table.

Mr Kerry spoke after talks in London with British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond over the Syria war, which has sparked a migration crisis across Europe.

The US diplomat said America was prepared to negotiate.

"We need to get to the negotiation," he said.

"That is what we're looking for and we hope Russia and Iran, and any other countries with influence, will help to bring about that, because that's what is preventing this crisis from ending.

"We're prepared to negotiate. Is Assad prepared to negotiate, really negotiate? Is Russia prepared to bring him to the table?"

He said Mr Assad needs to be removed, but added that "it doesn't have to be on day one or month one".

"There is a process by which all the parties have to come together to reach an understanding of how this can best be achieved."

The London talks came shortly after US officials said Russia had sent at least four fighter jets to Syria to bolster Mr Assad's embattled forces....more at link.

Kerry still hasn't grasped that it's got feck-all to do with him who Syria elects - have they forgotten the last Syrian election already?

I hope Trump does become President - he seems to have zero interest in regime-changing other sovereign nations just to suit elites and globalist.

People I speak to here, say a similar thing, Bonny.  Send them all back except the genuine asylum seekers.  They also think it has all been carefully coordinated. 

Those do-gooders don't seem to live in the real world.  They are off in a world of fantasy unfortunately.  Yes, they are creating misery for too many people trying to flee the REAL horror and encouraging more to come.

This is a nightmare for the Western world.

I am sure German taxpayers won't mind, we all saw those cheery signs with rainbows and unicorns to welcome the 'migrants'.....the first wave, that is.....

Yes, until the free stuff dries up, or they don't get their own way, then it will be back to rioting and throwing babies at policemen. Don't blame Hungary one bit for having Humvees and large weapons on standby.
