Labour Members Win Court Battle Over Vote
They had accused the party of unlawfully "freezing" them and others out of the contest between Owen Smith and Jeremy Corbyn.
ive new Labour members have won a High Court battle over their legal right to vote in the forthcoming leadership election.
The members accused the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) of unlawfully "freezing" them and many others out of the contest between Jeremy Corbyn and Owen Smith even though they had "paid their dues".
The NEC decided that full members would not be able to vote if they had not had at least six months' continuous membership up to 12 July - the "freeze date".
But Mr Justice Hickinbottom ruled that refusing the five the vote "would be unlawful as in breach of contract".
The court action affects almost 130,000 Labour supporters who were impacted by the freeze.
It is unclear whether the ruling means these all of these supporters will now be able to vote in the contest.
Kate Harrison, solicitor for the claimants told Sky News they "should" be able to cast a ballot.
Sky's Sophy Ridge, who was in court, said there was surprise within the party at the ruling.
She said: "The party will be in a state of shock after the judgment that was brought down today, which effectively says that those members who tried to challenge the fact that Labour was denying them a vote in the leadership contest were in the right and that they now can presumably go forward and have a vote in that election."..etc.
The champagne corks will be popping in Downing Street - that's Labour screwed for years.

Re: Anti-Corbyn coup fails - so far!
One of the problems for Labour is that the faithful have made sure that Corbyn only attends meetings and rallies where he will be applauded and adored.
That, coupled with Diane Abbott doing her "Comical Ali" impression, may have given him the impression that his fan base is a bit bigger than it actually is.
Its only a matter of time before he is trotted off to the home for the bewildered. in around 2025.
In the meantime, we will have to endure the "darling buds of May".

Yes, Jean-Pierre, they're trapped in Bubble Syndrome. It's leading Labour activists to say things like, Everyone I speak to agrees with me, Jeremy will be the next PM. Forgetting, of course, that they only speak to other Labour activists, and not to the millions of other people who make rude remarks about scruffy old socialists whenever he appears on TV.
Mrs May seems to be doing an OK-ish job so far, considering the circumstances.

http://news.sky.com/story/labour-to-appeal-over-vote-court-judgment-10527774
Labour has said it will appeal after five new party members won a High Court battle over their legal right to vote in the forthcoming leadership election.
The members accused the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) of unlawfully "freezing" them and many others out of the contest between Jeremy Corbyn and Owen Smith, even though they had "paid their dues".

But Mr Justice Hickinbottom ruled that refusing the five the vote "would be unlawful as in breach of contract".
The court action affects almost 130,000 Labour supporters who were affected by the freeze.
A spokesman for the party said: "The Procedures Committee of the NEC has decided that the Labour Party will appeal this ruling in order to defend the NEC's right, as Labour's governing body, to uphold the rule book, including the use of freeze dates."...etc.
This might be a good time to think about splitting the Labour party and leaving Corbyn and co to their electoral fate.
I bet Mrs May is cursing Dave for introducing fixed-term parliaments.

Re: Anti-Corbyn coup fails - so far!
The voting rights of the £3 members vested immediately. And enabled student activists to pack the membership and vote Corbyn in.
The NEC then tried to retrospectively change the rules. Which is perhaps why the judge ruled as he did. And why the appeal should not succeed.

And the non-Labour supporters who joined to vote for Corbyn, knowing he'd be a disaster, have certainly had their money's worth.
I confess I am losing track of who is taking who to court....

What happened to The LabourBristol website?
I think the more important question is, what happened to the Labour party?
Quite simply the party has been under attack by a movement led by two Elitists from privileged backgrounds, portraying themselves as acting on behalf of the working man. Those people are James Schneider, who grew up in a £7 million mansion thanks to proceeds of huge alleged fraud, and Jon Lansman who also grew up in luxury and attended Cambridge, with links to a tax shelter finance group.
The private company they are using as their vehicle to seize power is Momentum Campaigns Ltd.
They promote themselves as a working class peoples movement, as anti-establishment. But they are anything but. Jon Lansman has been involved in politics for many, many years, and is firmly part of the establishment. They say they want an end to career politicians, but Corbyn is a career politician - he was a councillor then an MP, he's never known any other kind of job.
Read on for the truth about Momentum and Corbyn. Now or after you've read more, please sign up to Saving Labour.

The truth about Corbyn
Corbyn presents himself as a man of the working class, but he's anything but. He grew up in a manor, and attended a private school. Despite having high quality private education he left with only two grade E A-levels. Private school students are expected to perform better than state school ones. They are expecting to achieve 3-4 A levels, all A-C. Even the average students will get 3 A-levels grade B-D. Corbyn is very below average, in fact, he would have been at the bottom of the class. He managed to get into university, but dropped out. He became a career politician, first councillor then MP. He's known no other work

Jeremy Corbyn team accuses Tom Watson in Trotsky row
Labour's deputy leader Tom Watson has been accused of "peddling baseless conspiracy theories" by Jeremy Corbyn's leadership campaign.
It came after Mr Watson told the Guardian Labour was being infiltrated by "Trotsky entryists" who had "come back" to bolster Mr Corbyn.

Jeremy Corbyn campaign blames failure to secure GMB nomination on 'right wingers' in union
A spokesperson for Jeremy Corbyn's leadership campaign said the result of the poll - which backed Owen Smith 60% to 40% - was not unexpected
They said: "We heard that there had been a well funded and orchestrated effort from certain right wing political officers at the GMB close to [deputy Labour leader Tom] Watson and [Owen] Smith. But we still have the majority of affiliated trade union support and we didn't have the GMB's nomination last year and we still won."

Jeremy Corbyn allies plan to approve mandatory reselection by end of year in move that could ‘purge’ dozens of Labour moderates
Jeremy Corbyn’s allies are planning to end the parliamentary careers of dozens of critical Labour MPs by approving plans for mandatory reselection by the end of the year.
The Telegraph understands his supporters will use their increased majority on the party’s ruling body to clarify rules about which MPs can stand for election after the 2018 boundary review.

Re: Anti-Corbyn coup fails - so far!
Right-wing trades unions now, is it? The paranoia is strong with this one....
If anyone wants to see what happens when Trots like Corbyn and his chums get power, they only have to look at the socialist paradise of Venezuela. You know, the one with the empty supermarkets, where the Army is trying to force people to work in the fields to grow food.
Socialism has NEVER worked, not once, not ever, nowhere.

The whole of Eastern Europe can testify to the evil of socialism - here after over 20 years since the demise of communism the people are still struggling, not with food but the decaying infrastructure. LL
