I certainly remember some dirty trains and filthy bathrooms as a child. Not to mention frequent long delays etc.

Corbyn joins seatless commuters on floor for three-hour train journey
Labour leader is filmed during trip from London to Newcastle, on his way to meet Owen Smith for leadership hustings
In a video shot as he was on his way to debate with Owen Smith in the Labour leadership hustings in Gateshead, Corbyn is seen sitting on the floor of the train, a coffee and brown paper bag at his feet, reading Private Eye. The freelance filmmaker Yannis Mendez, who has been following Corbyn and volunteers for his campaign, filmed the footage.
From his spot on the floor, which he chose rather than upgrading to first class, Corbyn turns to the camera and says: “This is a problem that many passengers face every day, commuters and long-distance travellers. Today this train is completely ram-packed. The staff are absolutely brilliant, working really hard to help everybody.
“The reality is there are not enough trains, we need more of them – and they’re also incredibly expensive.” He said the whole experience was a good case for public ownership.
Later, Corbyn said: “Is it fair that I should upgrade my ticket whilst others who might not be able to afford such a luxury should have to sit on the floor? It’s their money I would be spending after all.”
If the silly old Lefty fool and his camera crew and other hangers-on got out of the way, it would at least make a bit of room for other people.
Or, even better, what with him being such a martyr, he could have dipped into his vast salary and paid for a few of the standees to travel in First Class.

I have NO idea where he imagines the UK would get the money to pay, say, Virgin for their gleaming, modern, long-haul trains, Lily. Unless he thinks confiscating them would be a good idea?

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/labour-leadership-poll-majority-of-public-think-own-smith-would-be-better-leader-and-pm-than-jeremy-a3321461.html
A clear majority of the British public believe Jeremy Corbyn should be replaced by challenger Owen Smith despite growing evidence that the Left-winger is heading for victory in the leadership ballot, a poll shows today.
The BMG Research survey for the Evening Standard exposes a glaring gap between the general public and Labour Party activists, who appear set to confirm the Islington North MP as leader next month.
Asked who would make the best Labour leader, Mr Smith was ahead by 58 per cent to 42. Asked who would be the best prime minister, the result was even more decisive: 62 to 38 for Mr Smith.
The poll also suggested that a renewed Corbyn leadership would deter a significant number of people from voting Labour at the next general election.
About three in 10 said they would be less likely to vote Labour with Mr Corbyn in charge in 2020, compared with about two in 10 who said they would be more likely. Under Smith, some 18 per cent would be more attracted to the party and 17 per cent deterred.
The research found backing for Mr Corbyn as leader was 57 per cent among under-24s — but crashed to just 21 per cent among over-65s. Among people who voted Labour at last year’s general election, the rivals were neck and neck, at 51-49 to Mr Corbyn. But among non-voters and supporters of other major parties — whose votes Labour will need to attract — Mr Smith was ahead.
Well, as younger voters are far more interested in chasing imaginary Pokemons than actually going to a polling station.....

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/owen-smith-says-isis-should-be-brought-round-the-table-for-syria-peace-talks-a7195276.html
The Labour leadership contender Owen Smith has sparked controversy by suggesting that “at some point” there may need to be negotiations involving Isis to end the Syrian civil war.
Follow the latest updates on the Labour debate
While being quizzed over the issue during a debate with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, he said “all of the actors” needed to be involved in any talks to stop the conflict which has claimed thousands of lives.
Both Mr Smith and Mr Corbyn were asked whether they thought the brutal terror group should take part in talks.
While Mr Corbyn replied “no, they’re not going to be round the table, no,” his rival gave a more equivocal answer.
Mr Smith said: “Ultimately all solutions to these crises do come about through dialogue.
“So eventually if we are to try and solve this, all of the actors do need to be involved.
“At the moment, ISIL are clearly not interested in negotiating.”..etc
Well, that's the end of his career, then.

They currently command audiences in excess of 7 million for their own show, Saturday Night Takeaway.
That's more than 10% of the UK population.
And I am NOT one of them. I couldn't care less if Jezza isn't interested in showbiz rubbish.
What does concern me is his bleak socialist ideology, and the bullying and anti-semitism rampant in his section of the Labour party.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/08/15/jeremy-corbyn-called-for-complete-rehabilitation-of-leon-trotsky/
Jeremy Corbyn used his position in Parliament to call for the “complete rehabilitation” of Leon Trotsky, it has emerged despite dismissing concerns about hard-Left entryism as “nonsense”.
In 1988, the Labour leader – then a backbencher – demanded the Marxist revolutionary and other communists have their achievements formally recognised by the Russian state.
Mr Corbyn was one of a series of prominent left-wingers who put their name to an Early Day Motion, a form of parliamentary petition with no standing in law, which made the call.
It came to light after parliamentary staff on Monday uncovered a paper record of the demand in an underground archive in Westminster.
While the views date to another era when the Soviet Union still existed and the Cold War was ongoing, Labour sources have used the comments to question Mr Corbyn’s current stance on entryism.
Last week Tom Watson, the deputy leader, warned that the party was being targeted by “Trotsky entryists” linked to organisations previously banned from joining Labour.
However Mr Corbyn’s campaign dismissed the claims as “baseless conspiracy theories” while the Labour leader called them “nonsense” on Monday. ..etc

Labour leadership: Corbyn and Smith clash on winning power
Jeremy Corbyn has insisted he can reach out beyond his core supporters as his leadership rival said Labour was not on a "trajectory to win power".
At a hustings event, he said his policies would win over "some people that have been tempted to vote Tory".

Somewhere or other, I saw a rumour that Labour moderates have been speaking to the Tories quietly, in the hope of persuading May to hold a snap election.
Which seems crazy, but the hammering Labour would get would crowbar Corbyn out of office, and then they could spend five years trying to rebuild their party.

SPLASHING THE CASH Labour leftie Diane Abbott spends £29k of her education charity’s £35k budget on lavish parliament bash
Abbott boasted she can help youngsters achieve their dreams and denies the money was squandered

DIANE Abbott spent nearly all her charity’s annual £35,000 income on a lavish Parliament bash – then boasted she could help youngsters “achieve their dreams”.
The Labour frontbencher hosted a ceremony in three of Westminster’s plushest rooms – but left less than £2,000 for awards winners.
Shadow health secretary Abbott’s self-titled education foundation spent just over £29,000 on hosting the event for aspiring children.
The revelations come just months after the leftie said she wanted to use her charity “to build some specific legacies around education” and “do international works”.
She also revealed she wanted to “support families on how to help black boys, in particular, to achieve their dreams”.
Accounts filed show she spent £12,539 on room hire and catering, £8,360 on event production, sound and lighting and another £3,000 on marketing for the invitation-only free event.
The breakdown also includes £1,775 on stationery and mailing and a staggering £700 on “artist performance fees” for the London Schools and the Black Child event in October 2014.
At the end of the year, it was left with more than £5,000 in its accounts.
Their objectives, as detailed on the Charity Commission website, includes “the advancement of education” and “promotion of equality and diversity” and makes grants to organisations.
The first year of accounts showed the Diane Abbott Foundation received £35,000 made up of £25,000 from City firm Prudential and £10,000 from law firm Linklaters.
The accounts have only recently been filed after she faced a fine for late reporting.
The first few months showed she hadn’t personally donated any money to her foundation despite declaring £2,000 for an appearance on quiz show Fifteen to One that year and £700 for each appearance on late night political programme This Week.
She was heavily criticised in 2003 for sending her son to the £10,000-a-year City of London school.
Abbott has risen to the front bench under the leadership of her former lover and current Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
A statement from Diane Abbott claimed the allegation that “money was somehow squandered is a malign attempt to diminish” the LSBC awards scheme.
Turnips for you, caviare for me, comrade!
