The turmoil inside the Republican Party under Donald Trump's divisive candidacy is being mirrored across the Atlantic in Britain, where another outsider is confounding political experts.

What? Personally, I can think of few WORSE comparisons.

As far as I know, the GOP hasn't been infiltrated by far-Left Trots, Useful Idiots - or Tories and Kippers joining to wreck it for the bargain price of £3.........

And Trump stands a good chance of being elected, unlike Jezza.

Derek Hatton returns to first Labour Party conference since 1985
12:41, 25 SEP 2016 UPDATED 12:41, 25 SEP 2016
BY LIAM MURPHY
Former deputy leader of Liverpool council says Jeremy Corbyn not bothered by him being there

Derek Hatton has made his first return to a Labour Conference since 1985 as the annual party bash hit Liverpool.

The former deputy leader of the city council made the headlines in the 1980s as he became the face of Militant.

Mr Hatton said it is the first time he has attended a Labour conference "as an audience member" in more than 30 years - although he did briefly attend one in the late 1990s working for radio.

Asked how he thought Labour members would react he said "some will be bothered, but not Jeremy" - in reference to the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn who secured his re-election to the party's top job yesterday.

Mr Hatton said the event seemed "very like it was" in the main conference hall but added that many people remain in the party "who are disconnected" from ordinary people.

He joined in the applause when speakers congratulated Jeremy Corbyn on his leadership victory.

Derek Hatton applied last year to re-join the Labour party but said the issue is still not resolved and he is not a party member.
..etc.

Oh, he'll get his card in no time - and I am happy to bet that Galloway will be welcomed back, too.

Jeremy Corbyn says criminal investigations into British Iraq veterans should continue - and UK must 'recognise international laws'
The Iraq Historic Allegations Team (Ihat) which was set up by Gordon Brown is investigating almost 1,500 allegations of mistreatment and unlawful killing of Iraqis while a separate inquiry, Operation Northmoor, is looking at more than 550 allegations of abuse in Afghanistan dating back to 2005.

Why can’t I get behind Corbyn, when we want the same things? Here’s why - Polly Toynbee
At the Labour conference I am besieged by good people who feel they are part of a great wave for a better society. My response to this passion sounds cynical – but realistic

On his office balcony Jeremy Corbyn has a small olive tree, and he once promised branches for his opponents. But the little tree need not fear being stripped bare: not one branch has yet been proffered. The man of peace shows no magnanimity in his great victory. Instead his gentler, kinder politics is bent on securing an absolute grip on the party, seizing all levers through control over the party’s rule-making body – the national executive committee (NEC). His calls for “unity” are only a call for capitulation and obedience.

I'm not a fan of Ms Toynbee, LL, but that's a thoughtful piece.

The thing is - Corbyn ISN'T a good man. Ignore the weasel words, look at what he does. He would drive the UK into chaos, division and poverty that would make the 70s look calm and orderly. Under that geography teacher facade, he's a bullying control freak.

And he's never yet seen a Lefty dictator or terrorist he didn't like. No, Corbyn is not a good man.

From last year but even more pertinent today.   LL

Corbyn’s new Stalinist voice
Meet Seumas Milne, the Labour party’s new spokesman.
http://www.politico.eu/article/stalinist-voice-of-labour-seumas-milne-jeremy-corbyn-putin/
The one man who seemed absolutely delighted with these recent events is the former MP and current London mayoral Candidate George Galloway, who was, it should be remembered, expelled from the Labour Party for bringing the party into disrepute. Galloway defers to no one, not even Corbyn, in his support of anti-U.S. dictators and is Milne’s unashamed ideological bedfellow. “Just what the doctor ordered,” he tweeted in response to Milne’s appointment. The tweet’s geolocation? Moscow.
From wikipedia:
After graduating from Oxford University, Milne became the business manager of Straight Left, a monthly publication produced from 1979 by a faction in the Communist Party of Great Britain. According to Standpoint magazine's Michael Mosbacher, the group wanted the CPGB to remain "on a solidly Stalinist path". Its supporters were not exclusively communists: several left-wing Labour MPs with pro-Soviet bloc sympathies (all now deceased) sat on its editorial committee; Milne was not a Communist Party member. Peter Popham wrote in a 1997 article for The Independent that "there is no mistaking that Seumas is on the far left of the Labour Party, of which he has been a member for 20 years".

Jeremy Corbyn expected to lose majority support of Labour NEC
Nominations from Scottish and Welsh Labour leaders set to tip the balance in favour of anti-Corbyn faction.

Jeremy Corbyn is set to lose his majority on Labour’s national executive committee after a fierce debate at the party conference in Liverpool, where it was accused of trying to rig the balance of the party executive.

Conference will vote on Tuesday on controversial rule changes to let Labour leaders in Scotland and Wales nominate one person each to sit on the NEC.
