I have NO idea which faction of the Labour party has been abusing which other faction.

Love the interpretive dance. They should do more of that. It could be the next big thing in politics.......

In a stinging article, the former Foreign Secretary blames the Labour Party’s own bad choices for its current fate
David Miliband savages 'unelectable' Jeremy Corbyn, and his own brother too.
David Miliband has said the Labour Party has “never been further from power” in a stinging article that also blames his brother Ed Miliband for the “result of choices” that have damaged the left in Britain a way that was not inevitable.

Jeremy Corbyn says he wants to "wipe the slate clean" if he retains his position as Labour leader.
Mr Corbyn told the BBC he had never responded to the "unpleasant remarks" directed at him by a "very large number of Labour MPs" during the campaign.
And he said "an awful lot" of MPs had called him keen to "play their part" in the party after the leadership contest.

Labour is giving every impression of being in its death throes, IMO, LL.
Meanwhile, another critic surfaces:

Jeremy Corbyn’s ex-wife: I voted Owen Smith for Labour leader
Written by: Sebastian Whale Posted On: 21st September 2016
Jeremy Corbyn’s first wife has revealed she voted for Owen Smith in the Labour leadership contest.
Quote:
She said Mr Corbyn had not “changed much politically” since they first met, adding: “That begs the question, are the politics of the 1970s relevant to the 21st Century and to post-Brexit Britain?”
Nope, not in the slightest. Anyone that remembers the chaos and misery caused by Labour and 'socialism' in the 70s will never, ever vote for Corbyn.
And the Corbyinistas would do well to remember how that ended up - with Maggie Thatcher.

If politics consumes a huge portion of your life – as it does mine – then it can be easy to forget just how little enthusiasm most people have about it. Coups, purges, Labour’s NEC, memes about the rival candidates pepper my social media timelines every day. Most people have spent the last three months slogging away at their job, going to the seaside, having after-work drinks, picking their kids up after school – getting on with their lives. Let’s be blunt. If members of the public are even paying attention to Labour’s car crash – and most have switched channel – “freakshow” is probably one of their kinder words.

When Corbyn triumphs, Labour's real civil war will begin
The hard left is now poised to gain control from top to bottom, something the Blairites never did.

Re: Anti-Corbyn coup fails - so far!
Thanks, LL - that piece in the Spectator is good, though the cartoon is scarey.
I really don't see any future for the Labour party, outside of its niche market of irritating, dreadlocked activists and the permanently aggrieved. It certainly has no appeal to the working class.
I think there is a council by-election tonight; that may give some idea which way the wind is blowing, though so far, Labour has had some terrible trouncings by the LibDems - presumably voted for by people who detest what Labour has turned into, but can't bring themselves to vote Tory.

Hmm. I may be cynical, but I really don't see Labour MPs voluntarily choosing years in the political wilderness because of Jezza...
Britain Elects @britainelects Sep 19
Jeremy Corbyn is to instruct Lab MPs to support an early General Election (requires 2/3 majority) if Theresa May seeks one.
(via Newsnight)
Hmm again. Last night's by elections were too much of a mixed bag, with local issues thrown in, to come to any firm conclusion:
https://twitter.com/britainelects/with_replies
Though this business of people seemingly voting LibDem to get rid of Labour seems to be ongoing in some areas.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/2016/09/24/what-would-george-orwell-think-of-jeremy-corbyn/
“Socialism is such elementary common sense,” wrote Orwell, “that I am sometimes amazed that it has not established itself already.” The working class, he said, “ought to be flocking” to the socialist cause. And yet, to Orwell’s frustration, they weren’t. Why not?
One major reason, he argued, was that the working class were being “driven away” by a certain type of socialist – a type they believed to be utterly out of touch with their lives, views and interests. Orwell agreed. This type of socialist, he complained bitterly, was “bearded”, “vegetarian”, “teetotal”, “prim”, “middle-class”, “a crank” and “a pacifist”.
I’m sure that description reminds me of someone. But for the life of me I can’t think who.

Well, that's Jezza anointed, and the Labour party f*cked. The vote split 60%-40% - a huge rump of non-fanatics, and nothing like the overwhelming majority the Bearded One needed to hold it together.
Theresa May right now.....

An exit poll of the result suggested Smith beat Corbyn among Labour party members who joined the party before 2015. Although he was defeated in the overall election, the YouGov/ElectionData survey found that Smith also won among 18-24 year-olds and Scottish party members.
So, he's been elected by the leftie entryists, and by naughty Tories who have been praying for this day.
And as Militant Tendency, sorry, Momentum, are already calling people 'Blairite scum' and planning purges, I don't see the Labour party surviving, frankly.
PS - an increased vote of less than 2% is NOT a landslide, and a 60-40 split is the worst of all possible worlds.
