Re: Brexit about to be triggered?
https://www.euractiv.com/section/central-europe/news/meps-demand-action-against-hungary-after-law-targets-soros/
A group representing a majority of European Union lawmakers said on Wednesday (5 April) that they want the Parliament to start disciplinary proceedings against Hungary after a crackdown on foreign universities by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Hungary’s parliament approved a law on Tuesday (4 April) that could force out a university founded by financier George Soros – the Central European University (CEU) – despite international condemnation and protests by thousands of Hungarians....etc
Just look at them - a shower of corrupt troughers, too blind to see that it is the likes of their arrogant selves that is destroying the EU. You can't sink much lower than trying to protect that scumbag Soros - doubtless they're all on his payroll.

Re: Brexit about to be triggered?
Faroe Islands eye fishing agreement with UK after Brexit.
The Faroe Islands, an autonomous archipelago in Denmark, said on Wednesday it wanted to negotiate on a fisheries agreement with the Britain after its exit from the EU, a concern for the Faroese economy.
"The UK remains one of the most important markets for Faroese seafood exports. A new trade agreement with the UK to ensure future exports is therefore a priority of the Faroese government," it wrote in a statement.
The Faroe Islands, a territory of nearly 50,000 inhabitants in the North Atlantic between Iceland, Scotland, and Norway, chose to remain outside the European Union when Denmark joined the bloc in 1973.
The archipelago has rejected the Common Fisheries Policy, a set of rules that manage European fishing fleets, to freely decide its own quotas.
The Faroe Islands, heavily dependent on fisheries, seek to find a new agreement with Britain when it has left the EU in order to continue to export its fish to the nation.
The agreement should also regulate the Faroese fishermen's access to British waters and vice versa, currently allowed by the EU, according to the Faroese government.
Fishing (mainly herring and mackerel) and fish farming (salmon) are vital sectors for the archipelago, accounting for 98 percent of its goods exports.
In the summer of 2014, the Faroe Islands settled a dispute with the EU, known as the "herring war", which prevented it from exporting fish to the EU for one year because of quotas deemed excessive by Brussels.

That's good, the sooner trade agreements are sorted out, and the public sabre-rattling ends, the better.

NATS IN A SPIN SNP chiefs accused of falsely claiming Nicola Sturgeon clinched millions in investment on US trip
Nats No2 Angus Robertson was among bigwigs who heaped praise on the First Minister, telling her 'congrats' for 'securing £6.3million deal for jobs'
EXCLUSIVE

SNP chiefs have been accused of falsely claiming Nicola Sturgeon clinched millions of pounds of investment on her US trip.
Nats No2 Angus Robertson was among bigwigs who heaped praise on the First Minister, telling her “congrats” for “securing £6.3million deal for jobs”.
And her husband Peter Murrell, the SNP’s chief exec, tweeted: “Nicola Sturgeon nets £6.3million deal for Scots jobs on first day of US visit.”
But we can reveal that three tie-ups bosses suggested were her responsibility were brokered earlier by development agency Scottish Enterprise.
There is no evidence Ms Sturgeon had anything to do with any of the deals.
And out of the £6.3million pledged, £1.5million comes from the public purse through grants from Scottish Enterprise. Tory MSP Dean Lockhart insisted the public would feel “misled”.
He said: “If SNP figures claim Nicola Sturgeon secured this cash, they should be able to prove it.”
And Labour’s James Kelly accused the Nats of being guilty of “shameful spin”, adding: “This insults people’s intelligence.”...etc.

Re: Brexit about to be triggered?
This drivel:
is currently being taught in our school as 'the Scottish language', which may go a long way to explaining why our schools are failing and literacy levels falling.
It bears NO resemblance to any actual Scots dialect I've ever seen, it's just mis-spelled Glasgow ned slang. If I was of a cynical nature, I would say Scots children are being deliberately dumbed down for political ends.

http://www.scotsman.com/news/barack-obama-to-visit-edinburgh-1-4413199
The 44th US president will address philanthropy and business leaders at a dinner in Edinburgh on May 26 at the EICC hosted by The Hunter Foundation. It is understood that it is the President’s first visit to Scotland. A competition is also being arranged offering one secondary school the chance to win a table at the dinner.
Can't wait to see Sturgeon grovelling to Obungle; they have a lot in common, both being incompetent, empty shells.

Re: Brexit about to be triggered?
Scotland's leader won't call unilateral independence vote
UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says Britain's prime minister is doing nothing to break an impasse over Scotland's future after Brexit, but she ruled out holding a referendum on independence without the British government's support.
Prime Minister Theresa May has rejected Sturgeon's request for a legally binding vote on independence within two years. Sturgeon could ignore her and call a consultative vote, but she told The Associated Press in an interview that a new referendum "should be on the same basis as the last referendum in Scotland, which was by agreement and consensus."

Of course they are. They have not spent all this time and all that money to be rebuffed?

Re: Brexit about to be triggered?
She's made a complete mess of everything to do with Brexit.
She 'forgets' just how low the turnout for Brexit was here; she 'forgets' that all the non-SNP Remainers are furious that she's hi-jacked their votes for her own ends; she 'forgets' that over a million Scots - some 400,000 of them now ex-SNP voters - voted Leave.
Oh, she can do no wrong with the hard-core numpties, but a great many people are enraged with her and the mess she's made, especially in the former SNP heartlands in the fishing, farming, etc., communities, who have all been royally shafted by her.
All May has to do is stall until after the 2020/21 elections, because Sturgeon and co are going to be out on their ears in a great many non-Central Belt communities. They will hang on in the Central Belt, because there is no sign of Labour pulling themselves together, but the rest of Scotland? They're as good as finished, and jaunts to sign blank bits of paper with Governor Moonbeam are making people MORE angry, not less.
Her incompetence in office beggars belief - I have never, ever seen anything like it before.

Re: Brexit about to be triggered?
UKIP's Mark Reckless defects back to Conservative Party.
UKIP says Mark Reckless must give up his seat on the Welsh Assembly after he quits to pledge his support to the Prime Minister.
UKIP's Mark Reckless has quit the party and pledged his support to Theresa May and her Brexit ministers.
Mr Reckless, a member of the Welsh Assembly, sensationally left the Conservatives in 2014 for Nigel Farage's party causing David Cameron to apparently brand him a "fat ****".
His defection was a coup for Mr Farage, who also poached Clacton MP Douglas Carswell at the same time, in a significant blow to the Conservatives.

Just look at the state of them! Someone, please tell them the 70s are over.
And why don't they try something different, like producing their own political publication? They can have as many pages praising Jezza as they want.
Oh wait - no-one will read it, no-one ever does read their turgid, ranting nonsense.

Yes. Although he is supposed to be the Leader of the Opposition. There was another huge row in the Labour party this week, something to do with Ken Livingston and Hitler again. I didn't follow it all, it was making me lose the will to live.
At this rate, the Tories will be in power till the 22nd century......

Re: Brexit about to be triggered?
Try the Orkney and Shetlands community councils, LL.
They - and the Borders, and other areas of Scotland - are making it clear that if there should ever be another referendum and the SNP scrape a win by weight of numbers in the Central Belt, they're off, as they have no desire o be dragged out of the UK against their will.
Especially as they are the areas of Scotland that are prosperous, and also have no desire to subsidise Ms Sturgeon's magic money tree, republican cult in Glasgow.
